Scotrail staff set to wear CCTV cameras in bid to snare yobs
The £300,000 move comes after an 18-month trial of 36 cameras found they cut bad behaviour and resulted in prosecutions
SCOTRAIL staff are to be offered wearable CCTV cameras in a bid to snare yobs.
The devices send footage of anti-social behaviour directly to a secure website and can then be used in prosecutions.
Workers won’t have access to the material, filmed for eight hours at a time by lenses worn round the neck or on uniforms.
The move comes after an 18-month trial of 36 cameras found they cut bad behaviour and resulted in prosecutions.
Transport Scotland and trade unions Aslef, the RMT and TSSA were involved.
ScotRail has spent £300,000 on extra cameras and wearing them will be voluntary.
