RADFORD CLOSES OUT WINTHROP/ADIDAS INVITATIONAL

DAY ONE RECAP

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Radford track & field team closed out the 2018 Winthrop/Adidas Invitational with two more wins and several personal records added to the books.

Building off of yesterday's success, freshmen Amelia Reynolds and Alexis Stafford teamed up with sophomores Kierra Henderson and La'Tisha Chambers to win the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.20. The mark ranks as the second-fastest in program history, just behind the 47.01 run by Brandon, Caple, Carter and Keener at the 2006 Big South Championships.

Reynolds broke the school record in the outdoor 100-meter dash prelims with a blazing fast 11.87 on Friday and came back Saturday to take gold in the finals. The Wales native ran against the wind to cross the finish line in 12.19 seconds. Chambers and Henderson took sixth and eighth respectively.

In her final race of the weekend, Reynolds posted a 24.58 to place second in the 200-meter dash finals. It's the fifth-fastest time in program history.

Posting Radford's first big result of the day was freshman Naomi Brindley, who topped the 22-runner field in the 800m with a lifetime PR of 2:24.00. Fellow freshman Madeline Tilley made her collegiate outdoor debut in the race, placing fourth with a time of 2:30.48. The times are yet another indicator of steady improvement from this young team considering Brindley posted a time of 2:30.79 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational just two weeks ago.

In a later section of the 800-meter run, junior Percie Lyons set a personal record with a time of 2:23.25.

While Alaina Pagliaro and Karryngton Harrison both made the 100-meter hurdles finals, Pagliaro was the lone Highlander to finish, taking fourth place.

Sophomore Tenae Washington added another top-5 finish to Radford's day in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 1:04.78.
