I always appreciate a sexy, romantic read and am a sucker for a glowing, redemption-driven HEA. Michaels gets that right.
It's possible I would have liked this book more had I read it as part of the series, because there are numerous references to previous and future MCs. The epilogue is a setup for book 4, which NO. I hate that.
More annoying, however, were the numerous grammatical errors, not typos, but consistent issues, like using the apostrophe to form a plural.
I would hope a published book would elevate itself above a holiday card: May all your wish's come true. Love, the Hansen's.

This great story has our guys romance, and we have a mystery to solve. The characters are flawed yet fabulous. The story flows smoothly, and we get all of the elements we require; sex, a plot, and an HEA.
We see the men tell their pasts, reveal secrets, and find acceptance and understanding.
I love this family and all of the people involved. It's a full-bodied romance, where we get to witness the declarations of love, and see out pair as a couple, bonding and getting stronger.
We have a huge rescue at the end.
I'm thrilled with each new story as the series expands.

This was book 3 in the
"Souls of Chicago"
series. This is a hot book cover Landon Greene is the manger of Carter's Creed and he is also Carter's older brother. When Carter begins getting stalker fan mail the recorder label hires some new security Micah Hamilton. Landon and Micah who is Giovanni's bestfriend also most hooked up and Caleb and Giovanni's bachelor party. Micah is a hot sexy former navy Seal who comes home after going through something horrible he comes home to start his own security firm. Turns out the letters have been causing Landon to have panic attacks he wasn't eating or sleeping and it was starting to show. This was a really good read and listen Micah and Landon have some hot chemistry when these two hook up all the way this time it was hot. As these two begin to spend more time with each other they find that they like spending time together, but both of them have demons in their past that haunt them. Turns out the stalker is not after Carter but Landon and when he tells them about the things in his past he feels so ashamed and that his family and friends won't forgive him Landon had an affair with one of his professor who turned out to be married although he broke up with the man Kyle and stalked him until he left school. Micah fell more in love with Landon he told him about his past as well he was an abused as a kid and ended up living with Giovanni and his family. I loved how the Greene opened up their heart and accepted Micah as one of their sons. When they figured out who was stalking Landon he was kidnapped and almost killed but Micah did what he had to do to protect his man. This was a really good read and a good edition to this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I really want to find out what's going on with Rocko.

How I imagine Annabella maps out her plots. Large wheel with romance cliches pinned around it, spins...
This isn't a terribly bad effort, but there's so many cringeworthy cliche moments that it gets hard to read, for example warning the new man that if he hurts your friend/brother/babysitter/whatever, that they'll hurt him. Errm, disturbing. First, violence isn't romantic. Second, unhinged violence is definitely not romantic. People get hurt in relationships, there's not always cheating or abusive spouses, sometimes it's just the case that the relationship doesn't work and someone gets hurt. Going around like an unhinged lunatic, threatening violence if the relationship doesn't work out is pretty cuckoo.

This was my favorite of the series. Micah and Landon were just amazing. These two have some things in their past that cause them to think they aren't worthy of being with someone or loving someone, but oh how wrong they both are.
Micah had my heart from the beginning. There was just something about him I loved. My heart broke for him as parts of his past started to come out. He really had a rough time throughout his childhood. He had a rough situation happen while he was a SEAL. When it finally came out, I had some tears for him.
Landon was such a genuinely nice person. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them. You could tell that his attraction to Micah wasn't one-sided. I enjoyed seeing him breakdown Micah little by little to let him in.
These two go through some stuff, but I loved them together. I was rooting for them from the beginning.

La recensione di oggi, di Un’anima da proteggere, ci riporta di nuovo in seno alla meravigliosa famiglia Greene, per continuare a seguire le storie d’amore dei due bellissimi gemelli, Carter e Caleb, e scoprire chi farà battere il cuore al fratello maggiore Landon.
Il capitolo precedente della serie, La musica dell’anima, si era concluso con un piccolo cliffhanger. Carter, che ha appena raggiunto il successo con la sua band, ha cominciato a ricevere lettere minacciose da parte di qualcuno che sembra considerarlo una sua proprietà. Landon, nelle vesti di manager oltre che di fratello maggiore, e Lachlan, a capo della casa discografica, si stanno organizzando per proteggere al meglio sia il cantante che il fidanzato Ryan. Per questo è stato assunto Micah, un ex Seal, che ora ha una società di protezione. Se da una parte questo lo rassicura, per Landon è anche un’ulteriore causa di stress che si aggiunge alla paura per il fratello; lui e Micah, infatti, si conoscono e condividono una grande attrazione, a cui però l’ex militare pare intenzionato a resistere a ogni costo. Dopo essersi conosciuti alla festa di addio al celibato di Giovanni e Caleb, e aver avuto qualche ardente approccio, Micah non ha fatto mistero di non voler proseguire la loro conoscenza, convinto di non essere l’uomo giusto per un tipo dolce e stupendo come Landon. Ma il doversi frequentare ogni giorno diventa sempre più difficile e, nonostante Micah tenti in ogni modo di dissuaderlo, ben presto resistere alla tentazione che Landon rappresenta diventa impossibile. I problemi però non sono finiti, le minacce diventano sempre più pressanti e il pericolo si avvicina sempre più.
Landon ha sempre avuto un forte istinto di protezione verso i suoi fratelli e sorelle e il pensiero che Carter si trovi in pericolo lo devasta e acuisce gli attacchi di panico che, all’insaputa dei famigliari, ha da qualche tempo. Se da una parte sapere che un uomo competente come Micah sorveglierà il fratello lo tranquillizza, non può però dimenticare la delusione che ha provato quando il giovane ha liquidato in fretta la loro attrazione, preferendo non dare nessuna possibilità al loro rapporto. È anche arrabbiato con se stesso, specie quando si rende conto che le emozioni che Micah gli suscita sono ancora devastanti e tenta in ogni modo di stargli lontano. Nonostante lo nasconda bene, anche per Micah accettare quel lavoro è stato difficile, ma l’amicizia che lo lega a Lachland, il proprietario della casa discografica, gli ha impedito di rifiutare. Considera Landon bellissimo e affascinante, ma si ritiene inadatto a un uomo così buono; nel suo passato ci sono così tante ombre che ora in un rapporto lui ha bisogno di essere al comando. La sua infanzia infelice e ciò che gli è capitato durante la sua ultima missione lo hanno reso un uomo duro e si considera come rotto, indegno di essere amato. Il fatto poi che Landon sia il cognato di Giovanni lo frena ancora di più, teme di perdere l’unico amico vero che abbia mai avuto, se il loro rapporto dovesse finire male. Eppure, non può resistere al richiamo che il giovane esercita su di lui, specie quando la scoperta delle sue esigenze non solo non spaventa Landon, ma sembra dargli sollievo dalle sue responsabilità. Il loro è un rapporto che giorno dopo giorno diventa più forte, anche se entrambi, in un primo momento, celeranno parte del loro passato e avvenimenti dolorosi, per paura di essere giudicati.
Seppure alla coppia è dedicata una parte rilevante della storia, la Michaels ci delizia facendoci partecipi di ciò che accade anche al resto della loro bellissima e singolare famiglia. Avremo perciò modo di vedere Caleb e Giovanni ricevere un grande regalo, che renderà la loro vita ancora più bella, vedremo Carter e Ryan aspettare il momento migliore per coronare il loro sogno d’amore e scopriremo che ci sono novità anche per le loro sorelle. Non mancherà neanche il momento d’imbarazzo creato dai loro genitori, che ancora una volta riveleranno parte della loro vita sessuale agli orripilati figli, che immediatamente si disperderanno in ogni dove per non sentire. Momenti molto divertenti che danno continuità a questa serie davvero molto bella, i cui personaggi sono sempre pronti a stringersi l’uno all’altro per affrontare le difficoltà. Trame semplici che regalano dolci storie d’amore, condite da scene erotiche intense e caldissime, con una piccola parte suspense che risulta intrigante. Come ormai d’abitudine, l’autrice ci dà anche qualche ragguaglio sul prossimo libro, che vedrà Lachland alle prese con Rocko, il talentuoso batterista dei Carter’s Creed, un ragazzo che si sta perdendo in festini e droga mettendo in grande ansia i suoi amici. Un uomo che dovrà lottare con i suoi demoni per sistemare la propria vita. Una serie estremamente piacevole da leggere, che ha nei suoi personaggi la carta vincente e che a ogni capitolo riesce a rinnovarsi con successo.

Best in the series so far
This one had none of the little typos and editing errors which had been a distraction in the first two books in the series.
I also liked this one a bit better as the MCs were slightly older, although their actual ages weren't given as I recall. Still, both Landon and Micah had clearly defined characters who felt realistic and had issues which didn't get pushed aside.
I liked that they communicated once they'd decided to try and make a go of their relationship. I'm not sure I bought into the plot premise which was used to create the drama but it did have a couple of nice red herring moments which helped it not be obvious.
The secondary characters and the world setting have been nicely established throughout this series and that continued here. I also like it when we get a glimpse into whose story might be coming next and I'm looking forward to book four.
The cover, as with the first two books, is absolutely gorgeous and definitely helps sell the sexiness inside.

Protecting the Soul was my first book by Annabella Michaels and I'm impressed at how much I liked this book. Normally I'm hesitant to read new authors because I never know what to expect but not in this case.
Now, I haven't read the first few books in the series and I was totally fine with this one. It can standalone. Landon and Micah were really good together. You can just feel their chemistry. And this book had the right amount of suspense with a few twists and turns that keep you interested in the story. I look forward to reading Rocko's book next and I'm definitely going to be going back to read the rest of the books in the series.

Sigh, so good. I’m loving this series. Micah is one bad sexy man. The love and commitment between the characters is delicious.

✔ Letto! Finalmente la storia di Landon Greene e Micah Hamilton.
Sono di ritorno tra le bacia della famiglia Greene e sono felicissima di trovarmi qui. Rivedere i gemelli è un piacere, ma devo dirvi che purtroppo Carter si trova in pericolo, c'è un maniaco che lo perseguita con delle inquietante lettere "d'amore". E Micah è arrivato durante il suo tour in Europa per prottegerlo.
Vi ricordate di Micah? Lui è il miglior amico di Giovanni il marito di Caleb Greene di cui abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere nel primo libro. Micah finalmente mi racconterà il perché scappava da Landon, della sua infanzia traumatica e del suo cattivo padre, oltre a un fortissimo trauma che ha subito quando era un Seals.
Pensa che non può permettersi una relazione con Landon dovuto al suo passato. Ha bisogni, che pensa Landon non sia in grado di accettare, ma lui non sa ancora il potere dei fratelli Greene di guarire un'anima ferita.
Landon lo conosco già, il fratello maggiore, il manager di Carter e che sia stato nutrito da pane e amore come tutti nella famiglia. Al momento è sovraccarico di responsabilità e questa cosa comincia a pesare su di lui. E l'epilogo con una anteprima del prossimo libro che non vedo l'ora di leggere, quindi...

Sono di ritorno tra le bacia della famiglia Greene e sono felicissima di trovarmi qui. Rivedere i gemelli è un piacere, ma devo dirvi che purtroppo Carter si trova in pericolo, c'è un maniaco che lo perseguita con delle inquietante lettere "d'amore". E Micah è arrivato durante il suo tour in Europa per prottegerlo.
Vi ricordate di Micah? Lui è il miglior amico di Giovanni il marito di Caleb Greene di cui abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere nel primo libro. Micah finalmente mi racconterà il perché scappava da Landon, della sua infanzia traumatica e del suo cattivo padre, oltre a un fortissimo trauma che ha subito quando era un Seals.
Pensa che non può permettersi una relazione con Landon dovuto al suo passato. Ha bisogni, che pensa Landon non sia in grado di accettare, ma lui non sa ancora il potere dei fratelli Greene di guarire un'anima ferita.
Landon lo conosco già, il fratello maggiore, il manager di Carter e che sia stato nutrito da pane e amore come tutti nella famiglia. Al momento è sovraccarico di responsabilità e questa cosa comincia a pesare su di lui. Nice balance between the attraction, angst, sex, love and suspense. Didn't see that plot twist coming, so that was a nice surprise.
For me, Landon's panic attacks and "hiding" from his family felt a little bit out of proportion with the reason why, but I loved the chemistry between Landon and Micah and how they understood each other. Micah's issues were easier to "understand" to me. And finally I adored Landon's family, maybe a bit quirky, but that only made me laugh. So I want to get to know them better and will probably pick up the rest of the series at some point.

I'm bored with this series, I skimmed over the last chapters, I just wanted it to be over.
After 3 books, I feel like I keep reading the same characters with the same feelings, the same dialogue, the same traumas...
Although I am curious about Rocko, I'm going to give this series a break, read something else and maybe come back to it later.

I enjoyed this one - less fluffy and sugary ! Landon & Micah were great and this was a story with a little more meat to it. Of course there were elements that had me thinking " overboard " but I guess that's fiction !

I'm really enjoying this series so far. All the books have been totally entertaining with a bit extra thrown in for interest's sake. This one is about Gio's best friend Micah and Caleb and Carter's brother Landon who is also their manager. Caleb's been getting threatening letters while on tour with the band so Micah and his team are brought in to protect him and find out what's going on. Micah and Landon had a bit of a interlude before but Micah was a douche and left Landon hanging. Now they have to deal with each other and boy do they. Lovely, if I say so myself. Both damaged, both needing some love and both hiding secrets. Great story and with the stalker line thrown in it was just a fun read. Way to leave us hanging about Rocko. Reading the next book right now.

*Protecting the Soul: Souls of Chicago Series book 3 by Annabella Michaels is a suspenseful read not to be missed. It can be read as a standalone easily but you do have a fuller understanding of the backgrounds of the Greene Family if you have read Books 1 & 2.
Landon Greene is the oldest of the Brothers and has watched out for the Twins, always. Caleb is settled and Carter’s band is a client of Landon’s management company.
Micah Hamilton has left the Navy SEAL to start his own security firm in Chicago and to be closer to his best friend, Giovanni, Caleb’s husband.

Der ehemalige Navy SEAL Micah wird beauftragt, die Band Carter`s Creek zu bschützen. Er ist in deren Manager Landon verliebt, der seine Gefühle erwidert. Leider glaubt Micah aber, er wäre nicht gut genug für Landon und hält sich von ihm fern. Natürlich kommt es doch, wie es kommen soll ...
Das Buch ist recht unterhaltsam zu lesen, die Probleme der Hauptfiguren wirken jedoch wie aus der Retorte. Micah, den Ex-SEAL und Sicherheitschef würde ich nicht für meine Sicherheit engagieren. Wer sich im Sportraum eines Hotels während eines Auftrags Kopfhörer in die Ohren stopft und die Musik so laut aufdreht, dass er die Umgebungsgeräusche nicht mehr wahrnimmt und sich folgerichtig erschreckt, als eine Person auf ihn zutritt, gehört zu SEAL-Nachschulung. Also echt!
Immerhin konnte ich nicht sofort erraten, wer der Stalker ist. Das wurde spannend aufgebaut.

OTHER READERS WILL LOVE THIS BOOK - I MUST BE JADED.
Having looked at the other reviews, I'm going to be unpopular but I stopped reading. I've read it all before. The ex Navy Seal bodyguard. The touring band. The Stalker. The" damaged" men. The grown man who has never before realised that submitting, giving over control, turns him on. No safe word? Repeating scenes in alternative point of view? I'm really sorry to say it, but I got bored. So, how can I give 3 stars? Well, probably if I hadn't already read several similar stories then I would have enjoyed this one. The story itself is well narrated and the editing more polished than the previous books in this series. Others will love it, it's just not for me.

I loved this series, and I was so happy that Landon finally got his soulmate. This story was very interesting, and I always love the way the extended family is constantly weaved into the story. I loved Micah, and his background was very heartbreaking. I am excited that we will get another book. I cannot wait to read Rocko's and Lachlan's story.

Siamo giunti al terzo capitolo di questa serie e finalmente troviamo la storia di Landon, il maggiore dei fratelli Greene, che avevamo lasciato alla fine del secondo capitolo con molte domande sul suo conto.
Devo dire che questo libro regala molti momenti di patos in più rispetto ai precedenti; troviamo un Landon estremamente preoccupato per il fratello Carter, destinatario di lettere minatorie che costringono a un rinforzo di agenti per salvaguardare la sua sicurezza. È in questo contesto che fa la sua entrata in scena Micah, un ex Navy SEAL, ma soprattutto l’uomo che Landon non ha mai dimenticato, che l’ha respinto nonostante un’attrazione dirompente reciproca.
Micah ci viene presentato come un uomo “danneggiato” da un passato difficile, fatto di abbandoni e violenza; viene infatti lasciato dalla madre, ancora molto piccolo, alla custodia del padre, un uomo che si rivela alcolizzato e violento e che farà sentire il giovane Micah costantemente sbagliato. Crescerà in un contesto in cui la parola “famiglia” non è una definizione di amore e porto sicuro, bensì il contrario e sarà solo con l’aiuto del suo migliore amico Giovanni, già incontrato nel primo libro, che riuscirà a salvarsi da questa situazione devastante. È perciò chiaro che il suo passato e l’arruolamento in Marina hanno determinato le sue scelte, spingendolo a chiudersi in se stesso e a pensare di non meritarsi l’amore degli altri.
Landon invece è un uomo amorevole, che ha sacrificato buona parte della sua vita a proteggere i suoi fratelli, la sua famiglia; è un manager affermato, quindi costretto costantemente a prendere decisioni per gli altri, ma nasconde dolori, mai rivelati, che non fanno altro che sviluppare in lui un costante stato di ansia.
È così che si incontrano questi due uomini, con i loro fantasmi che li accompagnano, ma con la consapevolezza, mano a mano che vanno avanti, di poter trovare nell’altro la propria salvezza. Nei libri dell’autrice troviamo sempre questa prerogativa e grazie al suo stile pulito riusciamo non solo a provare empatia verso i protagonisti, ma a comprendere che il vero amore può essere raggiunto anche dopo mille difficoltà. In questo viaggio ne troveremo tante e di difficili, saranno così complicate da far perdere a Landon le speranze di aver trovato la sua possibilità di essere finalmente felice con l’uomo che ama, ma soprattutto porteranno Micah a combattere per lui, l’unico che è stato in grado di dargli speranza e fiducia nel futuro, l’unico che può considerare suo col cuore e con l’anima.
La storia coinvolge, i protagonisti sono ben delineati e la scrittura di Annabella Michaels è sempre molto fluida e attenta. E’ una storia positiva, che fa bene all’umore, mi sento di consigliarla.

Ancora una volta una storia dolcissima di questa autrice che riesce a raccontare una storia d'amore tra due anime tormentate, Landon e Micah, in maniera delicata e romantica. Una storia che ci parla della nascita di un rapporto che va oltre la passione momentanea, ma che vede due uomini, entrambi apparentemente forti, con le loro paure e le loro insicurezze che si trovano e si completano a vicenda. Sia Landon che Micah, infatti, sono due personaggi che celano dietro una maschera di forza e sicurezza, mille sfaccettature di sentimenti e fragilità, di dolcezza e gentilezza e che si fanno carico di responsabilità più grandi per essere di suporto agli altri arrivando quasi a danneggiare se stessi. Dovranno però imparare a conoscersi, ad aprirsi e a condividere preoccupazioni e paure, ad appoggiarsi l'uno all'altro per far sbocciare il loro amore. Impareranno a cedere il controllo e a fidarsi e allo stesso tempo capiranno di essere due anime capaci di amare e degne di essere amate, superando la vergogna degli errori passati. Il loro percorso non sarà semplice e spesso faranno dei passi indietro, ma alla fine capiranno che con la persona giusta possono essere sia forti che deboli e il loro amore rafforzerà la stima che hanno in se stessi anche grazie all'affetto sincero della loro famiglia e degli amici.
Il libro presenta una componente di suspense e mistery che si intreccia perfettamente con quella erotica e sensuale dando vita a una storia che sa essere dolce e romantica nei momenti giusti così come introspettiva ed emozionante in altri. Il tutto condito da uno stile fluido ed elegante che ci racconta sempre con molta delicatezza sia i momenti più dolorosi, sia le scene di sesso più spinte che sono raccontate in maniera perfetta senza essere mai volgari.
Tutto questo, insieme all'enorme positività della storia, ha fatto si che io abbia amato moltissimo sia Landon che Micah, ma anche tutta la loro famiglia allargata e gli amici in quanto il libro è anche una storia corale come i precedenti della serie. Per me è una storia stupenda che consiglio vivamente.

Avevo già letto questo titolo e mi era piaciuto tanto, rileggendo adesso, dopo aver iniziato la serie a partire dal primo libro, posso dire che Un'anima da proteggere è una storia che tutti dovrebbero leggere per poter apprezzare cosa significa amicizia, amore e avere alle spalle una famiglia amorevole che supporta ogni scelta dei propri figli.
Landon e Micah vi faranno innamorare perché sono uomini che hanno saputo rialzarsi nonostante tutto, anche se rimane ancora da smussare qualche angolo per potersi dare una possibilità in amore.
Se Landon ha alle spalle una famiglia che dispensa amore in ogni gesto, Micah ha avuto invece un'infanzia infelice e dolorosa e solo l'amicizia con Giovanni Romero gli ha regalato attimi di vita in una vera famiglia.
Già dal primo sguardo tra i due c'è chimica e elettricità, ma i segreti di entrambi li tengono a distanza fino a quando si arrendono a ciò che desiderano e decidono di ottenere il massimo prima che l'incarico si concluda.

Già dal primo sguardo tra i due c'è chimica e elettricità, ma i segreti di entrambi li tengono a distanza fino a quando si arrendono a ciò che desiderano e decidono di ottenere il massimo prima che l'incarico si concluda.
Colpi di scena si susseguono in un crescendo di forti emozioni, per cui la lettura va spedita e coinvolge il lettore pagina dopo pagina.
Un epilogo che fa tremare il cuore proiettandoci al quarto libro della serie e alla scoperta di chi è Rocko.

Riveting and Explosive.

This series is one of my favorites. This is book 3 in the series and I was thrilled when it came out on Audio. Even though I really love all the guys in this series, I knew Micah would probably be my favorite. Now after listening to Michael Pauley bring him to life, I was not disappointed. Book three is about Landon Greene, manager for Carter (his baby brother) and his band, and Micah Hamilton, who is heading up security for the band. Not only was this story well written but it ticked off many of my boxes...Erotic romance, hot Alpha Control freak male, and a who done it mystery with a serious twist. Ms. Michael’s has a very clever writing style that is very intriguing. I was riveted to the unforlding story while trying to figure out who was behind the threats.
As I listened to Michael Pauley bring all the characters to life, he totally nailed it especially my man-hunk Micah. I was swooning all over the place. I seemingly love the hard nosed, broken, undeserving of love characters and poor Micah is all that and then some. I enjoyed the way the story of these two men coming together through pain and heartache unfolded. They are both flawed and vulnerable but perfect for each other. I also continue to marvel at the Greene family members, how loving and accepting they are with everyone in their own family as well as the newly added members.
This book had me by the throat at times, while my heart bleed at others. But I loved each and every minute. On a scale of 1-5 I give this one a 10.
