Why this petition matters

Hogan’s Road could very well be known as one of the worst roads in Ballan.

As the town grows, the traffic grows with it. The developments surrounding this road have seen increased traffic conditions which have contributed to the dangerous condition of the road. Especially in the winter months.

The road is currently wide enough for one car only at any given time.

The road consists of multiple, deep and wide pot holes meaning where any car is required to move to the side to allow the passing of another car, you will need to dramatically reduce speed to avoid hitting a pot hole or a gutter of an adjoining street entrance, at a speed high enough to cause damage to your vehicle.

If you are required to give way, you must veer onto loose dirt and gravel to do so. The current state of Hogan’s Road is unacceptable when compared to other developments.

No gutters. No drainage. The road is chipping away.

Given the increased developments, it seems necessary for this road to be resurfaced, as all efforts to patch up a pot hole with loose gravel are quickly ruined once the rain hits.

The corner of Densley Street and Hogan’s Road is dangerous as it only allows room for one car. When approaching this corner, if another car is coming the other way you have seconds to react and veer to the side, which again is loose gravel, and depending which side you’re on, if veering to give way, your car will dip downward on a lean when veering around this corner.
Currently this corner is covered in loose stones from recent patch works, adding the danger of this corner.

Residents should not feel the need to avoid this road based on fear they may cause damage to their vehicles.
