Burger King’s viral Tweet inception

These days, many of the big fast food brands exhibit some degree of sassiness on social media (see: here, here, here, here), but the UK branch of Burger King is feistier than most on Twitter. Yesterday, the brand decided to use a tweet from Kanye West to drag its forever-enemy, McDonald’s.

So far this message has received over 650K, likes, prompting a follow-up tweet: “If we knew this was going to blow up we would have made a soundcloud.” West’s admission that he loves McDonald’s shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise since he actually wrote a poem about the chain two years ago. But the hip-hop mega-star also appears to be a fan of several other chains as well: West purchased the rights to franchise 10 Fatburger locations in Chicago a few years ago, and he also bought his wife Kim Kardashian the rights to open a bunch of Burger King outposts in the UK (though Business Insider notes that the duo never actually opened any of them).

New vaccine could help celiac disease sufferers eat gluten

Scientists at Massachusetts-based pharmaceutical company ImmusanT are developing a vaccine that could help stop the inflammation that occurs when people with celiac disease consume gluten. Food & Wine notes that the drug, Nexvax2, was first tested in 2011 and found to be safe. ImmusanT recently received $40 million in funding that will allow the company to begin a second round of testing. Even if everything goes according to plan, there’s still no word yet on when this vaccine might be available to celiac disease patients.
