Just removed from the busy Tokyo shopping district lined with television stations and offices is sushi restaurant "Sushi Haru". The owner-chef, Haruhiko Sato is originally from Miyagi prefecture. He decided to become a sushi chef in junior high school, and after learning the ropes at a veteran sushi restaurant for 10 years starting at the age of 18, he further honed his skills working at a Japanese restaurant in Waseda and a sushi restaurant in Nishi-Azabu for 10 more years before finally establishing his own restaurant in 2018.

The reason, Sato chose Asakusa for the location of "Sushi Haru" was that it is a little hidden away, making it the perfect place for small groups of diners to relax and enjoy delicious sushi and drinks. Sato visits Tsukiji Fish market himself every morning to hand-pick the seafood for his restaurant. The tuna is sourced from Yamayuki, one of the most famous tuna brokers of Tsukiji. In summer the "Sushi Haru" serves sea urchin from Hokkaido and the Sanriku Coast, in autumn silver-skinned Pacific saury and mackerel, and in winter leatherfish, milt, and fresh salmon roe. The menu has a strong focus on seasonal ingredients, with courses designed to give diners a sense of the four seasons. Also worth mention is the restaurant's delicious sushi rice. A blend of Toyama Koshihikari and Miyagi Sasanishiki rice is cooked in a traditional Japanese rice cooker. The result is firm grains of rice which retain their original shape and have a brilliant glisten. The best companion for this delicious rice is sake, as it is itself made from rice. Sato offers a range of sake which pairs excellently with the food, including sake from his native Miyagi.

Inside the restaurant, 9 stylish modern seats are arranged around a counter made from a single piece of Japanese cypress. From the comfortable seats with large armrests, one gets a sense of Sato's desire for diners to take the time to enjoy their meals. "Sushi Haru" is the perfect choice for anniversaries, dates, business dinners meetings with important guests, or any other occasion when you have someone you want to impress.

    おまかせコース全体の流れが良かったです。小肌、トロ、のどぐろなどの鮨として目玉になるところと、カマ焼きやアラの出汁など、お魚を使い切ってる感じでした。大将とのお話も楽しくて、大満足です。
