I'm Simon, one of the owners of <a href="http://www.biggreenbookshop.com/">The Big Green Bookshop</a>, a glorious independent bookshop in North London. We have the very best customers, who've supported the Bookshop every day, from the very moment it opened back in 2008. I absolutely love it.  But sometimes things have to change. So it’s time for a new adventure. My family and I have moved out of London and are starting a new and exciting online version of The Big Green Bookshop by the seaside. It's all new and very scary and we'd absolutely love some help to get it off the ground! Over the last few years, the shop's been lucky enough to have gained the support of an online community of friends who've supported many of our projects . These have included; A <a href="https://www.thebookseller.com/news/big-green-bookshop-gets-lost-words-haringey-schools-759551">Crowdfunding</a> campaign to get Lost Words (a beautiful book about nature), sent to every school in the borough <a href="https://www.thebookseller.com/news/bookshop-appeals-calais-camp-book-donations-311464">Books and money raised</a> to help refugees in The Calais Jungle. <a href="https://thisisgoodwork.org/big-green-bookshop/">Raising over £2,500</a> to buy books and toys for the homelessness charity Shelter last Christmas. The weekly <a href="https://www.bigissue.com/latest/an-indie-bookshop-is-getting-strangers-to-buy-each-other-books-on-twitter/">#BuyAStrangerABook</a> initiative on Twitter I've also set up <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/jan/29/independent-booksellers-could-join-forces-to-compete-with-chains">The Independent Bookshop Alliance</a>, a project in which Independent Bookshops 'join forces' to give them a better opportunity to compete with the big chain stores. Oh yeah, I also try and sell books! I'm setting up this Patreon, because I love doing these projects (and I want to do loads more of them). Now that i'm working more online, I'll have the opportunity to devote more time and energy to them. I'd also like to be able to put on literary based events and workshops, set up national online book clubs and work with schools and other organisations to help promote the love of reading and also expand our incredibly popular <a href="http://www.biggreenbookshop.com/book-club/info_19.html">Big Green Book Club</a> scheme.  But in order to do this, i'm going to need a bit of support. If you can spare a little bit of dosh each month, it'll give me the opportunity to not only continue doing the stuff i'm already doing, but also it'll allow me to take on some more ambitious projects, which will hopefully do a little bit of good.  I'm still selling books too, so please get in touch if there's something you'd like.  Thanks for reading this.
