A video of a Texas police chief swearing in a 6-year-old girl as an honorary police officer is touching hearts on social media.

During the ceremony, Abigail Arias promised to be kind to others and to help her police family at all times. She also promised to continue something she's been doing for two years — to keep fighting until all her cancer is gone.

In the video, Freeport Police Chief Ray Garivey's voice breaks as he stands in front of Abigail, both raising their right hand.

Abigail Arias is sworn in as an honorary Freeport police officer. Abigail has been battling Wilms tumor cancer for the past two years.

People can be heard crying while they watched Garivey announce Abigail, dressed in a police officer uniform, as an honorary officer.

The Freeport Police department took to Facebook to post about the ceremony.

According to the post, Abigail has been battling Wilms tumor cancer, a type of childhood cancer that starts in the kidneys, for two years.

After she expressed her interest in being an officer, Garivey and other community leaders worked to make her dream come true.

"She took an oath today to continue fighting the 'bad guys' until she is cancer-free," the post reads.
