ADAO Launches “kNØw Asbestos” Website Resource to Educate about Asbestos Dangers and Prevention

Team ADAO is very proud to share with you the online home of “kNØw Asbestos”, a one-stop resource guide that centralizes existing government information regarding the prevention of asbestos exposure and elimination of asbestos-caused diseases.

ADAO had the pleasure of working with the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency on the design, development, and launch of this collaborative project.

The user-friendly platform offers easy access to asbestos resources and prevention tips and tools, which makes it an ideal educational resource. Site visitors can learn about asbestos, where it can be found, health risks, and the latest in worker safety. Featuring prevention-centric resources, it targets three specific audiences vulnerable to asbestos exposure: homeowners/DIYers, workers, and businesses. The site also provides audience-specific information for emergencies and disasters that cause structural damage, along with links to ADAO and other national and international resources.

Lastly, we are beyond grateful for the brave, progressive, leaders like the Washington Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General who sought out ADAO as a recipient of a restitution award. Furthermore, we are grateful for the collaboration of experts throughout the United States and Australia, including our Partners for Prevention committee, who contributed their expertise to the development of this project.

Committee Members include:

  • Claire Deacon, South Africa Occupational Safety & Health
  • Dr. Arthur Frank, Professor of Public Health and Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Drexel University School of Public Health in Philadelphia
  • Geoff Fary, Deputy Chairman, Institute of Managers and Leaders: Australia/New Zealand
  • Brent Kynoch, Executive Director of the Environmental Information Association (EIA)
  • Tom Laubenthal, Training Supervisor & Technical Chief for The Environmental Institute

ADAO is proud to be in the position to provide and disseminate this crucial asbestos-related information to the general public. As ADAO says, “Hear Asbestos. Think Prevention.”

In unity,

Linda
