How To Prepare My Kindergartner For Catholic High School and Beyond - Principals Edition (3rd Annual)
Holy Rosary Regional Catholic School will be holding a panel of 5 Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic high school principals on February 15, 2018 at 7pm at our school gym. Please see the following description and RSVP with the form below by February 8, 2018.

Our Principals for the panel include:
Pope John Paul II High School (http://www.pjphs.org) - Father Brian Kean
Father Brian Kean was named the principal of Pope John Paul II High School (PJP) in July of 2017. Prior to that time he served as the School Minister of PJP and a member of the Theology Department for three years.  He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2008. He previously served as a member of the faculty at Archbishop Carroll High School.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Masters degree in Theology from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbook.  He is a proud product of the Archdiocesan Catholic elementary and secondary school system.  

Lansdale Catholic High School (http://www.lansdalecatholic.com) - Rita McGovern
Rita McGovern is currently the Principal at Lansdale Catholic High School. She has served the LC
Community in her current position for five years. Prior to her appointment as Principal, she taught Social Studies and Math at Archbishop Wood High School and St. Hubert’s High School, and served as an Assistant Principal at Little Flower High School. She is a product of the Catholic Educational System of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, having attended St. William Grade School, Cardinal Dougherty High School. LaSalle University for Undergraduate and Graduate degrees and St. Joseph’s University for her post graduate work. Rita feels blessed to be a part of the parochial system of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for her entire career.

Archbishop John Carroll High School (http://www.jcarroll.org) - Dr. Anchen Schulz
Dr. Schulz was appointed Principal of Archbishop John Carroll High School in August of 2016. She came from Seton Catholic Central in Binghamton, NY, the Diocese of Syracuse, where she served as Vice Principal and World Language Department Chair. She received her B.A. from Texas Tech University in Latin American Area Studies as well as her M.A. in Spanish Literature and Linguistics. Anchen then earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Cornell University. She taught Linguistics, Spanish, and Portuguese as an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, Rutgers University-New Brunswick, Binghamton University, and at the University at Albany (NY). Anchen has also taught remedial reading to 4th through 6th-grade students, Spanish to 6th through 8th-grade students, and English to non-English-speaking children and adults. She has studied Latin and French, and most recently Korean. In addition she served as Assistant Director in the NJ Department of Higher Education in such diverse areas as Bilingual Education, Professional Development and Curriculum Development, Grants Administration, Institutional Budgets, Statewide Strategic Planning, and as the Special Assistant to the Chancellor. Anchen has written grants for public schools, universities, religious organizations, federally registered buildings, and Catholic schools. She has also worked for the Board of Elections, in soup kitchens, and as a DRE. Anchen feels that God's plan was to send her to many different places to be with diverse people to prepare her for the role she now has at Archbishop Carroll. It is an honor to be here.

John W Hallahan High School (http://jwhallahan.com) [All Girls] - Michele Beachy
Michele Beachy moved to Philadelphia in 1986 and began working as a chemistry teacher at Archbishop Prendergast High School in 1989.  In 2000, she moved into the position of Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs at Prendergast.  Mrs. Beachy transitioned to Bonner-Prendergast for one year in 2006.  In 2007, she moved to Hallahan as APAA and in the fall of 2012 became principal at Hallahan. Mrs. Beachy has a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Mathematics and Computer science and a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Cabrini University.  Mrs. Beachy is married and has three children and seven grandchildren.

Bishop McDevitt High School (https://mcdevitths.org) - Patricia Rooney
Patricia Rooney was named the principal of Bishop McDevitt High School in September, 2017. Since 2013, Ms. Rooney has served as a Regional principal for Camelot Education, which partners with the Camden City School District and Mastery Charter Schools in Camden, New Jersey.  In her position, she supervises the academic programs for four alternative programs, servicing students in kindergarten through 12th grades.  She also worked for Camelot Education in two previous administrative roles including principal of the MAPS Program at Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia and Vice principal of Camelot Academy at the Daniel Boone School in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia.
Prior to her time with Camelot Academy Ms. Rooney served as a teacher at several Philadelphia area schools including Math, Science, and Technology (MaST) Charter School and Maternity B.V.M. Catholic School. Her teaching roster included Math and Language Arts Literacy.  

Ms. Rooney holds a Master of Education degree in Special Education from Holy Family University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph’s University as well as her Pennsylvania Principal Certification.  She currently serves as a 5th grade Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) teacher at Saint Dominic Parish in Philadelphia. Ms. Rooney has volunteered with the Aid for Friends organization since 2004 and prepares, packages, and delivers meals to community shut-ins.

Ms. Rooney is joining the Bishop McDevitt Community at such an exciting time in its almost 60 year school history of proudly delivering Catholic secondary education to the students of Montgomery County and its surrounding communities.
