Bullying/harassment in our public schools of Missouri has gotten Exponentially worse in recent years. We are asking for and greatly need stiffer punishment for Bullying/harassment!  The need has never been in greater demand to control the actions of those students who choose to mentally, emotionally, or physically harm our children. This is caused mostly by their negative mental state and animalistic behaviors. This is having an outpour of not only mental and physical harm but is becoming much more detrimental to our communities. Consequences from the school district itself is just not enough! These aggressive, unacceptable behaviors have hit our family very hard( we have paid the ultimate sacrifice!). In 2007,our daughter in the Fort Zumwalt school district of Saint peters, Missouri took her own life due to mental distress of Bullying at school. Currently our 15-year-old daughter goes to the Fort Zumwalt school district. She was ganged up by a group of girls in the schools bathroom, where they were verbally and mentally trying to destroy her as a group! She fears for her life and safety on a daily basis! And as we all know she is not alone. Numerous other kids deal with this everyday.  It is mentally taking a toll on each and every victim. What has motivated and empowered me to create this petition, is the tremendous number of students and parents sharing “their” stories crying out for help. This is unacceptable! The need for change needs immediate attention! Our children CANNOT focus on their education when they are always internally and mentally scared. This has got to stop. We’re petitioning to the State of Missouri to develop a stricter criminal code that applies to juveniles as pertaining to bullying/harassment.  We’re petitioning to amend the penalty guidelines of bullying / harassment and such offenses to the Missouri state law! We’re petitioning for stronger bullying prevention programs within the schools. Our children today are our future tomorrow!  Let’s not overlook that which has been ignored and insufficiently penalized. We must come together as Missourians to protect our children! It’s their RIGHT to be and feel SAFE.
