Glasgow cops probing whether three robberies in one day are linked as callous armed thugs target G4S security guards

GLASGOW cops have launched a probe after three robberies and attempted robberies in one day, which they think could be linked.

They all occurred today, between 9.40am and 2.30pm, in the city and surrounding areas.

The first was in the foyer of a TSB branch in Duke Street, when a G4S guard was approached by two thugs who tried to steal a money cassette from him.

But they left empty-handed and drove away on Armadale Street in a grey VG Golf.

The first suspect is white, around 6ft, with a slim build and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and trousers with dark coloured trainers.

The second suspect is around 5ft8in with a medium build. He was wearing a light grey hooded top and black trainers.

Then, at 12.35pm outside Scotmid on Merkland Drive, Kirkintilloch, another worker was threated with a knife and had money stolen from him.

The suspects drove away in a black Skoda Octavia or Superb, towards Waterside.

Both suspects are described as white, between 20-25 years old with one wearing a two toned jacket and grey scarf and the other a blue hoodie.

At 2.30pm, a third security guard was approached outside Ryman Stationary on Byres Road.

The brutes brandished a knife and a 12-inch pole, and demanded the cash box he was carrying.

The first suspect is described as white, 20-30 years old, around 6ft, of a slim build, and was wearing a black baseball cap, body warmer and joggers.

The second man is described as white, 20-30 years old, of medium build and was wearing a grey jacket.

They drove off with two other men in a black Volkswagen Golf, west on Downside Road.

Cops are looking into the possibility that the three incidents are linked.

Detective Inspector Clark Hill, of Glasgow CID said: “We cannot rule that these three incidents may be related however, all lines of enquiry will be considered.

“Each of these robberies has left the staff of G4S evidently shaken and we hope with the public’s help we will be able to catch those responsible.

“If you were in any of the three areas at the time of the incidents or have any information or dashcam footage that may help our investigation, please contact police.”
