Three weddings. No date. What’s a hot stud to do when all the women on his speed dial are either serving dinner to their families or serving time?

Out of all the O’Briens, Seamus is the best-looking, most creative, and, did I mention, best-looking? Single at almost forty wasn’t a big deal until every sibling in his large and loud Irish family found “the one.” Now, he’s desperate for a wedding date, one he doesn’t have to worry will make out with the limo driver or rob the bride and groom blind.

Allie Mendes is the good daughter, who’s spent her life living in her perfect sister’s shadow. But when her sister steals the man Allie was supposed to marry, that shadow she’s lived in threatens to swallow her whole. Allie wants to believe a bright future awaits. But when she begs God to save her from this disastrous twist of fate, the last person she expects Him to send her is Seamus O’Brien.

Allie needs a stand-in boyfriend to avoid appearing as lonely as she feels. Seamus needs a decent woman without an ankle bracelet or a rap sheet as long as his muscular arms. The two make a deal to pose as each other’s perfect date. But weddings mean romance and a chance at forever neither had planned.

*Disclosure Note: This ARC was received with rating conditions. In the interest of transparency as outlined by FTC guidelines, I am disclosing that I received this ARC under the following conditions: “If you cannot rate 3 or above, please refrain from posting your review until after the tour. “ To maintain the integrity of the review system, this blog does NOT withhold reviews. The rating given will be my honest opinion. None the less, beware that you may not be seeing the full selection of reviews from the ARCs distributed till after May 11th!

I should also note that this ARC came with the following strange request: “Do not quote for publication until verifying information with the finished sale-version book.” That’s listed twice.

If a book isn’t ready for reviewers’ eyes, then it shouldn’t be sent out. Sure as ARC reviewers we realize that there’s likely to be a grammatical mistake here and there and some additional formatting to come, but the gist of the text should be pretty final. Reviewers often juggle busy schedules, reviewing one book after the next. We don’t have time to read both the ARC and the finished sale-version or compare the two. It’s also not our job. We’re here to review the content we’re given and this is what I received…

So Seamus O’Brien, 37, is the last of his sibling to find a significant other, and then he’s pressured into bringing a respectable date to the wedding festivities. Real estate agent Allie Mendes, 35, is also knee-deep in wedding woes—not her own but that of her sister to her ex.

This story affirmed why I hate big weddings and overbearing families. So quite possibly that’s also why I found it more annoying than entertaining. In fact, I’m pretty sure the most entertainment I found here was when I entertained fantasies of throttling Mrs. Mendes. Allie mentions biting and yeah, there’s a thought too. But in all seriousness and at the very least, I’d have blocked both my mother and my sister from any form of communication possible and ejected them from my life. Favoring one child over the other is bad enough, but expecting the daughter whose long term boyfriend cheated on her with her sister to not only be her sister’s best friend and bridesmaid but to repeatedly call her up and rub it in your face, well that’s not just bad parenting; it’s emotional abuse.

As for the romantic angle, Seamus is cocky, conceited, and… the heroine even uses the word Neanderthal. His first meeting with the Allie is a total turn-off. Let me break out my Jeff Foxworthy voice here and explain…If a woman approaches you saying, “‘You don’t remember me, do you?’” and your response is to lie that she was a great conquest and treat her like a ONS who you forgot to call, you might be a MANWHORE!

For the record, Allie’s not a former ONS. She’s been his real estate agent on more than one occasion, goes to church with him, and knows his family; yet, he still can’t place her. And how does he finally remember her?

“‘You’re Valentina Mendes’s little sister. She’s smokin’ and damn, what a body! Hey, she still single?’”

That right there, I’d be out.

But it turns out Allie has no backbone so they keep talking. And then to my surprise Seamus actually says something smart in regards to her being the bridesmaid in her sister and ex’s wedding. “‘Why would you do that to yourself?’”

Anyways, the opportunity presents to fake date for the sake of their families and since this premise has been around the block a few times, no need for details there. What follows is Allie and Seamus getting to know each other. It’s fairly low-angst and would be a romantic build-up I might enjoy if the characterization didn’t get in the way. I just couldn’t fall in love with Seamus and Allie together because I didn’t really like them individually.

Allie is one of those prototypes that crops up way too frequently in the modern romance world. She lacks confidence, can’t emit sex appeal, and has been shackled with a limited history of men who suck in bed. Thus, she’s insecure and gets walked all over. Seamus is the gruff, loud, former manwhore type that’s become a dime a dozen. I definitely didn’t feel any chemistry between them. Ironically though the more the story went on, the more I at least appreciated Seamus’s attempts to read the sister/ex situation for what it was and to urge Allie to stand up for herself. But Allie was such a doormat, and as the story wore on, the more pathetic I found her.

Lastly, I can’t let this story off the hook without a mention of the sexist remarks made about women as well as the poor presentation of many of them. Females are referred to as “sluts” and “skanks.” Yep those are direct quotes. Even the 35 year old heroine is belittled by a client who calls her “little girl.”

Seamus’s younger brother (the hero from book two) exalts his future wife’s “good childbearing hips,” affirming he has faith she can pop out 7 kids.

I don’t know where to begin with that one. Should I start with the lofty notion that women deserve to be valued for more than their potential to reproduce or the fact that hip size and fertility are not directly correlated?

In regard to his own sister, Seamus narrates that "‘…none of us ever thought Wren would meet a man strong enough to tame her.’” Tame her? She’s a woman, not an animal. Then there’s the collection of random women (the neighbor, the baker, etc.) who all want to throw themselves at Seamus while dissing Allie. After a while I began to wonder if the request to withhold direct quotes was to keep the sexist sentiment, espoused by many of the characters, under wraps. I can only hope that this ARC is going through another round of edits and those edits include removing the slut shaming terms and outdated modes of thinking.

Told via Allie and Seamus’s alternating first person POV, this is a friends-to-lovers romance but the lovers part comes very, very, very late in the game and thus the steam level is extremely low.

The H was already skating on very thin ice after salivating in the the h’s face over her sister’s “smokin’” body, so when that comment came it sent him crashing through it. No time for a man like that.

I generally try to work to the mantra of if you’ve nothing good to say, say nothing, but sod that, this has hit a nerve. A shame as I have enjoyed other books in this series (#2 excepted) and was hoping it would end on a high.

Favorite Quotes:

There are a few grays on my temples, too, but for some reason the chest hair seems to bother him more… “It’s what the ladies call dignified.” They really don’t. More to the point, they say things like, “Ride me, cowboy” or “faster, my probation officer will be here soon.” The latter only happened once, okay twice, but in my defense, it was with the same broad.

I wanted to get married on the beach with just us. But no. Ma insists I get married in a church or risk God releasing a plague that will have flying monkeys shooting out of my lady bits. No one needs that…

We just don’t want you to be alone, you know? You hear about those spinster women found dead, their faces half-eaten by their twenty cats. We don’t want that to be you. We don’t want to find you dead, alone, surrounded by asshole cats licking their whiskers.

We’re going to need to drop a few bills on new clothes. The hair, I know someone who can fix it… You look like a Mormon and not the good kind. I mean the cult kind. The one with multiple wives and three hundred kids. The kind that make us Irish look infertile. Seriously, Allie. You’re sexy and everything. But if you told me you’re number four of six sister wives, I’d believe you based on what you’re wearing.

I try to tone down my smirk. It doesn’t work. Smirks are like wolves. You have to let them loose to run free.

She thought the guy was a manager at CBS. Turns out he’s a manager at CVS. She’s freaking out, trying to get it annulled, even though they spent the night banging like grizzlies in the woods with cymbals.

My Review:

I haven’t had this much fun in ages. Save Me was outrageously witty and highly amusing. I smirked and barked aloud more than a few times as I read. This is only my second time reading the delightfully clever words of Cecy Robson, but I am now a devoted and rabid fangirl. I adore and admire her to such a massive degree she could hit me up for a kidney if she were in need of a spare. I gleefully inhaled this engaging tale that not only had me howling with mirthful laughter but also found me choking up with sweet tears during a tenderly written and emotionally moving wedding scene. I am greedy to read all the previous books in this series as well as every other book this talented scribe has produced. I gluttonously covet all her clever words.

The fighting Irish? I think they had the O’Briens in mind when they came up with that saying.

Now when the end of a series has come, said series must end with a bang and Ms. Robson delivered. I’m sad to see the end of them. But there are always rereads.

The Characters.

Allie Mendes has always been the dutiful daughter. The good daughter although she has been overlooked all her life and has stood in her sisters shadow. Her sister did the unthinkable and stole her boyfriend that cuts deep but seven years later they are to get married and Valentina is to be in the wedding. Her sister is selfish, cruel and well you know what they say, beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes straight to the bone.

I really liked Allie even though she was a goody two shoes. She was just too nice okay she then grew a backbone that is part of the story. She is a successful business owner. And from a young age she looked after the O’Brien kids in Sunday school.

Seamus O’Brien is the last O’Brien standing and his siblings are scared as he is getting old that he is going to die alone and be surrounded by arsehole cats when they find him. Seamus always thought he had time but now he has three weddings to go to and no date. Not the married woman who he thought worked odd hours, or the one who was arrested for larceny and fraud, or the one who stole the microwave. He always goes for the crazy ones because he thinks he doesn’t deserve someone normal.

I loved Seamus he is oblivious, inappropriate, more intelligent than he lets on. He is a good guy and in time of need he will Save You. As he did with Allie.

The Chemistry.

Allie & Seamus go from acquaintances to friends and right at the end from friends to lovers. The beginning is mutual deal where they help one another and if you really look there is an attraction and that attraction grows more and more over time. There is sexual chemistry but that came right at the end.

What doesn’t speak for Seamus is that when he first meets the heroine after so long he thinks that they’d slept with one another. There was this WTF moment but the more I read it the more I realised that it is just Seamus’s personality.

The Writing & Plot.

Ms. Robson delivered a sweet, sexy read where we see Seamus and Allie get a happily ever after where both of them thought it would never happen. We get to revisit all of the O’Brien siblings. Each encounter and wedding was beautifully done. The author’s writing and her banter between the characters had me charmed. I like being charmed.

I had a sense of déjà vu when it came to the plot, now I can’t remember if I’d read the sample or if I read a book similar to it a while back. But seeing as it isn’t an overused plot so all good for me. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because although Seamus realised he liked Allie from the beginning she still got a makeover so that his family thought that they would be dating. Allie’s hang ups on the situation with her bitcharse sister and the ex-douche went on to long.

The Verdict.

The final O’Brien receiving his happily ever after. Such a great ending to the series that I even cried and I. Don’t. Cry. Just saying.

Out of all of the books that I have read I love Wren & Evan the most. I can only recommend this series. I have to read her other books. It is a feel good read with virtually no angst that leaves you with a goofy smile. I love goofy smile books. They’re like catnip for me.

SAVE ME by Cecy Robson is book 5 in the O'Brien Family series. This is the story of Allie Mendes and Seamus O’Brien. I have read the previous book but feel this can be a standalone book.
This was really a sweet romance that was hard to put down for me. Allie is the good girl and is overlooked a lot by her family and has to accept her sister taking her boyfriend. Now they are getting married and Allie has to participate in it. Seamus seems to attract the women that aren't to stable and now he is the last man standing in his family that hasn't taken the step in a permanent relationship. It was fun reading how Seamus and Allie came together. Loved it!

A smidge of Catholic guilt, a series of family weddings, and Seamus finds himself desperately in need of a 'girl I can bring home to my mother' type of date. Too bad, Seamus' contact list is full of quite the opposite, but then a sweet woman desperately whispers, 'Save Me' and he's all in. The final book in the O'Brien Family series was irreverent fun, tender, sensual, and a whole lot of the feels.

Save Me is book five in the O'Brien Family and works as a romance for the last single O'Brien and a follow-up on the lives of all the rest. This is a culmination of a fantastic, deeply satisfying series and its not a good place to start.

The O'Briens are an Irish Philadelphia family who are boisterous, colorful, inappropriate, loyal, and loving. Raised by their mother, there are six brothers and one sister. Seamus is the third born and last to be single. Most think he's a tomcat, but Seamus really does want a wife and family if only the right woman comes along.

Sharing this romance with Seamus is a girl from the old neighborhood who made good, Ally Mendes. Ally has put her life into her real estate business after her gorgeous, family-favorite sister stole her boyfriend right when she was expecting to have the white picket fence and everything Seamus is the first person to see beyond the dowdy clothes, bad hairstyle, and mousy persona she hides behind while staying far away from her toxic mother and sister. When her sister announces that she's marrying Ally's ex, she does something desperate to avoid the misery of still seeming hung up on the guy. Fake relationship time and trusting Seamus to help her with a sexy make over.

Much of this story can get unreal, but families and weddings can turn reality on its ear. Seamus is a blue-collar guy, as confident as they come, and honest- brutally so- to a tee, but Seamus is in for as big a shock as Ally. They start out awkwardly faking it, but its not long before they are both secretly longing for the real thing.

In between the scenes of Seamus and Ally spending time together and building a friendship into something else, I had a good time with the O'Brien family encounters. We have beautiful O'Brien weddings and babies. Sigh. On the other end, there are those ugly encounters with Ally's family. Man, where is the bus that needs to run over her narcissistic and horrid sister when you need one.

As has happened with each of these books, when I wasn't embarrassing myself with gut-wrenching laughter or enjoying the sensual friends to lovers fake mates romance, I found the true depth was when this couple had the intense heart to heart in the turning point of the book. Seamus, if I didn't love him already, just tugged on my heart with that story from his past. He grew up hard in ways, but he had his proud loving mother and his wonderful family of siblings, but Ally being stuck as the ignored child and sibling was equally heartbreaking. Seeing Ally come into her own and stand up for herself had me nearly standing on the couch and cheering.

So, yes, this was the end. Only comfort I have is all the O'Brien stories on my Kindle that I can come back and visit later. For those who want a strong element of family in their romances, I can heartily recommend this series and the Shattered Past trio this one spun off of. Do yourselves a solid and don't miss these.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Save Me is the final book in Cecy Robson's O'Brien Family series and it was a fitting ending that gave us a chance to catch up with the previous couples as well as see Seamus finally get his own happily ever after. I have to admit Seamus took a while to grow on me, he has a very high opinion of himself and that makes him come across as rather cocky and arrogant in the beginning of the story but luckily there is more to him than that and he can actually be really sweet when you get to know him.

Seamus always wanted to get married and have a family but the women he's usually attracted to are more likely to steal from him than settle down. With a whole bunch of family wedding's coming up he's sick of his family meddling in his love life so he needs a fake girlfriend to keep them all off his back. Allie is the perfect woman for the job, a successful business woman who takes time out of her life to volunteer at church and help others she's nothing like the normal girls he's brought home to meet his family. She's also in her own sticky situation having to watch her sister marry her own ex-fiance so she could use some back up herself.

Allie was the sweetest girl, she spends all her time and energy helping others but has very little confidence in herself so it was wonderful to see her come out of her shell with Seamus' help. They got on really well and made a perfect couple but he was worried about not being good enough for her so was worried about telling her how he really felt. I love the whole O'Brien family and how welcoming they were towards Allie, the banter has been amusing throughout the whole series and the three family weddings we got to witness were all very heartwarming and fitting for the different couples. Allie's family on the other hand were absolutely awful and I was so glad to see her finally stand up to them. I'm kind of sad that we're not getting a book about the oldest brother Angus, he obviously put a lot of his life on hold to care for his mother and younger siblings and I'd have loved to see him get a happy ending with his finance of 20 years Molly. It did seem like the two of them were happier now but I still feel like that's a bit of an unfinished thread in the series.

I've still enjoyed all of these stories though and I'm looking forward to seeing what Cecy Robson comes up with next.

Bittersweet ending…

What a sweet, funny, snarky, romantic ending to this series! I’ve loved the O’Briens from the beginning, cherishing each sibling’s story, squirreling away all the feels and laughter to take out and hug when needed. I started Seamus’ story knowing this was the last one so I read very, very slowly….

I laughed so much with the antics of Allie and Seamus! Seamus is hot, wicked, with a wonderful, raunchy sense of humour and a protective streak that embraces Allie from the start. He is brash, outspoken – with no filter whatsoever. In other words, perfection.

“I don’t always agree with what you say or how you say it. That doesn’t mean I don’t sense your heart behind every word.”

Allie was his match in every way – strong, independent and not afraid to reach out for what she needed, even as she argued they could never be more than friends. She is the good girl, the complete opposite of any woman Seamus has been with. And those other women, well, the stories had me rolling in laughter… And everyone needs a Shaqwana in their life… Seriously.

They each have weddings that are stressing them out and they look to each other for support, friendship and, soon, mind-blowing sex… They become friends, the best of friends, and their journey to more is full of laughter and seriously sweet moments that made me happier than I can say…

I shed some tears at the last O’Brien wedding, I won’t lie, but it’s no surprise as they’ve been squeezing my heart all the way along… Thank you, Cecy Robson, for a series I will cherish and re-read until the kindle screen fades…

Seamus and Allie's story is my favorite in the O'Brien series. I read it in one sitting. I simply couldn't put it down!

Seamus is the last of the O'Brien family to find his HEA and Allie perfect for him. Their "relationship" starts where she needs saving from her mother and sister and Seamus being the nice guy he that he is, acts like they are together. He doesn't miss the opportunity to grab her butt in the process, he might be sweet but he still a horn dog and Allie is super cute. LOL

These two have tons of attraction but they fight because of their deal to help each other out as dates for family events like weddings. They are both hounded by their families for being "old maids". They grow into each other best friends which later grow into love.

Save Me is full of funny liners, heartbreaking truths and a happy ending for the O'Brien family. I will miss this over the top family.

The O'Brien Family series by Cecy Robson has been a very enjoyable read.
I've enjoyed watching the O'Brien siblings find their soul mates and couldn't wait to read Seamus's book.
Now having read Save Me I'm struggling with my feelings.
The things I loved were getting to spend time with all the O'Brien's again. They continued to make me laugh and swoon and they reminded me why I've enjoyed this series so much.

Then I think of Seamus and I feel a little let down, I wanted to love him as much as I've loved his brothers but I struggled with his character. While he had the biggest heart and would do anything for his family or loved ones I failed to connect with him.

I really liked Allie, I found myself connecting with her and I hated watching her mother and sister taking advantage of her sweet and giving personality to make themselves feel more important than what they were.
I have no idea how Allie didn't slap her sister and just cut ties with her after what she did. I wish she had found her voice a little earlier but I'm happy by the end of the book she had the love and support of Seamus and life was going to be good.

I just wished I had more fuzzy feels throughout the book.

So while I didn't enjoy Save Me as much as I've loved the previous books I am happy to have read Seamus's and Allie's story and I was happy with how author Cecy Robson brought the series to a close.
The epilogue was a beautiful and heartwarming way to say goodbye to the O'Brien siblings and the partners.

This is a funny story of fake to real romance with a notorious Irish/American Catholic family, the O'Briens, at its heart. In this story it is the oldest son, Seamus, who is being pressured by his younger siblings finding the loves of their lives and planning to get married. He wants to bring his own date to their weddings but most of his recent dates have really not been the kind you bring to your family - not if you want their possessions to be safe, anyway!

When tasting potential cakes for his sister's wedding Allie Mendes greets him. He initially assumes she's someone he's had a one night stand with but she reminds him of their shared school days and how she's helped him and his brothers buy real estate. That's when her sister and her fiancé, who was actually the man who Allie was supposed to marry, arrive. Seamus hears Allie whisper "Save me!" and steps in to do just that. That's the start of their fake relationship. Both need dates for their sibling's weddings. The only problem is, the more time they spend together the more the attraction between the two grows. Can this fake romance develop into real love?

A hilarious story, this definitely has laugh out loud moments but it also has some heartwarming relationships and emotive events. The interpersonal relationships in the two families are so different! I was particularly impressed with how Seamus gave Allie the support and strength to stand up for herself and show her family how badly they were treating her. The weddings were each very moving for very different reasons . . . two you'll probably need tissues handy for whilst the third is so funny!

Save Me is a steamy romance during which past aspirations are explored and found wanting whilst new opportunities develop to show love can arrive when and how you least expect it.

I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

So... This story. It was okay. At times. Other times, it was overwhelming. The characters were, to be precise.

Seamus is not my ideal hero. He's crass, brash, conceited, and arrogant. His age, experience, and wealth might be reason enough to be the way he is but it was cringe-worthy reading about him. Two qualities I did like: his age and his persistence. But even those things didn't sway me towards me him anymore by the time I reached the end.

Allie was a perfect opposite to Seamus. She is the epitome good girl/daughter. She played by the rules and ended up being left behind by a rotten man and horrible family. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, nice about her family. She should have disowned them long ago, consequences be damned. She deserved happiness; I wasn't all that confident Seamus could show her what that was.

I'm not sure if the portrayal of characters is accurate of people in Philly, men and women, but, aside from Allie, I had a hard time connecting to everyone, and even my connection with Allie was marginal. She was lovely in a downcast woe-is-me way, but she was too much wallflower and not enough fire regardless of Seamus's tutoring her into being the woman he seemed to know was hiding behind the frumpy clothes and hairdo.

I read this a few times, wondering if my opinion would change after reading, hoping it would. It didn't. It is a friends-to-lovers story, a nerdy-girl-falls-for-popular-boy story, an ugly-duckling-to-beautiful swan story, all tropes I enjoy reading from time to time. But it also left a lot to be desired.

Cecy Robson is an author that hit the mark with her Weird Girls series. "Save Me" is the fifth in the O'Brien Family collection. Seamus O'Brien is the oldest in a family whose sibling are all paired up with the loves of their lives. Allie Mendes is a successful business women who resides in the shadow of her sister Valentina who is marrying her previous boyfriend Andres. This is a stand alone novel but it spent a great deal of time revisiting the prior O'Brien couples. Characters just fell short for me as did some of the over the top unrealistic events. This was an easy read but one of the books you wish would have been shorter. "A copy of this book was provided by Crushstar Media, LLC via Netgalley with no requirement for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

A sweet goodbye to a wonderful series. I will miss the O’Briens greatly.

Saying goodbye to the O’Briens is like finding out your favorite cousin is moving across the country. I am going to miss them so much. The romances were sweet, the characters were delightful and the stories of their crazy childhood always made me laugh out loud.

In this final story, Seamus is taking some slack from his siblings for being thirty-seven and still spending his time with non-virtuous ladies of questionable upbringing, or as Wren would say, skanks. While his choices might be been perfect for a night of fun in his twenties, it seems a little sadder as he approaches forty.

The fact that Seamus will be attending the weddings of two of his younger siblings, and that all his siblings have found love and are settling down are causing Seamus to be a bit introspective…or as introspective as Seamus can be. No matter how handsome Seamus believes himself to be, part of his insecurity is that after their father died, it was Angus and Seamus who dropped out of school to provide for their younger siblings. Seamus doesn’t begrudge the sacrifice made for his siblings, but there still is a small part of him that doesn’t feel worthy of a better class of woman. Plus, he likes the way the skanks dress. It is while helping Wren with pre-wedding errands that Seamus stumbles into Allie and learns that he isn’t the only one with sibling issues and desperate need of a date.

Allie Mendes grew up in the same neighborhood as the O’Briens. In fact, she attempted to teach religious education to several of the younger O’Briens. Of course, Seamus only remembers Allie’s hot sister, Valentina, which makes Allie’s day all that much worse. Her sister is the only one anyone remembers and the only one her mother seems to care about. Valentina is the one who went on to become a successful model, the one who is an international success, and the one who stole the man Allie was going to marry. The man Valentina is now going to marry. Allie and Andres were both awkward geeks in high school. They lived together as they finished college, and Allie worked to support Andres through his masters. After Andres sold his invention to the government and became a multi-millionaire, Valentine stepped in and seduced him away. As Valentine was also Andres dream girl it wasn’t that hard to do, and that little bit of knowledge hurt Allie even more.

Allie is a successful real estate agent, but her mother measures Allie’s every success against her sister, who is more beautiful and more beloved by all. Her mother is also forcing Allie to be part of the wedding party of her sister and her former lover, with no sympathy for Allie’s feelings.

Seamus and Allie join forces to support and shield each other against the overwhelming happiness of their siblings. And while we celebrate the happiness and love of the O’Briens and their new spouses, we also enjoy the train-wreck coming in the form of Valentina’s wedding.

Seamus helps Allie stand up to her mother and step out her sister’s shadow, and as they spend time together, Seamus remembers the deeds of the sweet, lovely woman at his side and realizes that Allie outshown her sister as a person once you strip away the shallow fascade. If only Seamus can see beyond his own “shortcomings” and maybe they can find their own happiness.

I am really going to miss spending time with the O’Brien clan.

This series is just epic and awesome – I’ve loved each of the books a little more than the last! Seamus and Allie are probably my favorite couple so far, they’re just such a perfect balance for one another and their camaraderie had me in stitches.

Seamus is always being bugged by his 6 siblings and his mother about the fact that he’s not settled down yet, Seamus is just happy being a playboy. Until his families comments start to break through his thick exterior and Seamus starts to think that maybe he does need someone in his life, especially with all his siblings settling down. Allie has been dealt a crappy hand in both the relationship department as well as the family department – the only serious boyfriend she’s ever had cheated on her with her sister. Now, her ex and her sister are engaged to be married and Allie is expected to put on a happy face and be involved. Seamus saves Allie from an awkward situation with her family and the two wind up scheming that Seamus will help Allie with her “image” and be her fake boyfriend around her family if she’ll be his fake girlfriend/date to his siblings weddings. The two have to spend a ton of time together developing an incredible friendship that begins to turn into an epic love story.

I absolutely love Seamus and his family, they’re written so well I just want to be adopted into their family! I also love Allie’s character, she’s fierce, funny and though it takes some coaxing from Seamus, has backbone that she uses to keep her family from walking all over. I’m really looking forward to more from Cecy Robson!

I didn't realize when I clicked on this that it was book #5 in a series. I read the description and I thought it would be interesting, and it certainly was. OMG Seamus is one of 7 in a big Irish family. Since I didn't read the other 4, I totally need to read the others because the O'Brien's are something else. So many shenanigans between the brothers. I was cracking up at Seamus. I just couldn't get over some of the things that would come out of his mouth. Now, he has horrible taste in women and he basically has no filter. But if you can look past the big ego and his in your face ways, he is absolutely 100% all heart. Especially when it comes to Allie and his family. Allie is such a sweetheart and a giver. I hated her relationship with her family and I loved how Seamus helped her navigate through all of the b.s. her sister was putting her though and man up. Even though they really don't get together until basically the end, I found myself really entertained by it all so it didn't really bother me. I some more O'Brien's in my life so I'm going to go check out book #1.

Shamelessly sexy. Utterly clueless. Hard to resist. Seamus O'Brien feels like the last man standing in a family that's dropping like flies. Love is reeking havoc in his family and he seems to keep missing the blow. That is until the girl he never saw, becomes the woman he can't forget. A chance encounter and a desperate favor have Allie Mendes and Seamus O'Brien rethinking everything they thought they knew about love. Cecy Robson is an emotional writer. She targets the heart with humorous dialogue, tempting romance and a heaping level of sex appeal. Save Me is a saucy tale of lost dreams and second chances that proves happiness is usually where you least expect.

I think this is a love-it or hate-it book. I veered between three and a half and four stars but in the end I decided on four stars.

Seamus O'Brien is (I think) the third oldest of the seven O'Brien siblings. This is the fifth book in the series and I have only read one previously, Feel Me which features Seamus' older brother Declan, the DA.

Seamus is a big contrast to Declan. He's loud, opinionated, attracted to crazy women and has a VERY high opinion of himself. His little sister Wren is getting married and she (and his mother) are badgering him about bringing a 'nice' date to the wedding. One who isn't already married, or on parole, or will set the church on fire, literally. When cornered Seamus can't stop talking and so he makes up a fake girlfriend, someone 'nice'.

Forced to assist in Wren's wedding plans by choosing various pastries for one of the events he is queueing at a local bakery when he runs into Allie Mendes. Although he doesn't recognise or remember Allie they grew up together, she taught his younger siblings at Sunday School, they went to the same school etc. Allie too has a wedding-related problem. Her sister Valentina is getting married, to Allie's high school sweetheart, the man Allie thought she was going to marry. So Seamus and Allie agree to help each other out. Seamus will help make Allie look and feel more attractive and in return Allie will be Seamus' date to three weddings due to take place.

Seamus was a problem character for me. At first he was just a bit blunt, a 'say it as I see it' kind of guy. Then around the halfway mark he and his family became that obnoxious group of loud mouthed people who make offensive comments - you know the ones that you ALWAYS get sat next to in a family restaurant. None of them seemed to have filters and all of them felt it was appropriate to say whatever the hell they wanted. Maybe that's what people are like in Philly? Anyway I started to get that Elle Casey feel about the book but I persevered. And what do you know? Under that uber-confident exterior is a man who thinks all he deserves are skanks and crazies, that nice women only want one or two 'dates' before they leave him for a real man with prospects, like a doctor or a lawyer.

Despite my mid-book misgivings about Seamus I really enjoyed this book, I liked the way that Seamus and Allie fell in love quietly and almost unnoticed. I liked the way their fake relationship went on, not a two week insta-lurve thing but weeks of texts and calls and dinner with Seamus' family and wedding rehearsals and dress shopping - yeah they were dating and they didn't even realise!

I think Cecy Robson may have a tendency to draw her characters a little too broad - you know the baddies have no redeeming qualities and everyone is a Character with a big C - but this was still a charming and thoughtful romance where I really felt they way that Allie and Seamus got to know each other slowly, supported each other and most of all made each other laugh.

I am definitely going to go back and find the first three books to see how Seamus' other siblings found love.

Wow let me tell you why I love this book! Seamus and his family are SO FUNNY. They all are full of sarcastic whit and no filter. Allie is such a sweet soul who is trying to live through the hurts of the past that she now is reliving due to her thoughtless, selfish family. I spent the majority of this book wanting to harm them (eekk). Seamus and Allie together take us on a magical journey, full of emotion, crazy conversations, and wild events. Love the very different family weddings they attend. One touched my heart SO MUCH I wanted to cry. What a testament to the beauty of having siblings. The other, tears were produced though it was a result of laughter. Two words FREAK SHOW... Oh I forget to mention Seamus has some extra naughty, and knows how to turn up the heat with Allie (wink wink). Alright no more discussing the storyline other than to say, you will not be disappointed. My heart is a gooey mess. Reading this story I became aware that Seamus’ sibs have their own books. This is my first read from this author and obviously I am able to say it really held its own as a stand-alone. I definitely have plans to check out the others though. Happy Reading!

This book!!! It was so incredibly good. Seamus has to be the best male lead character I have read this year. He is just so gloriously inappropriate. From the thoughts in his head, to the times he actually voices them, he had me chuckling along page after page. He is very confident in not only his looks, but how he is as a person. And deservedly so. When Allie and Seamus meet in the bakery it was absolutely hilarious.
But with all the laughter, I did find myself having a cry when Wren was walking up the aisle, what she said to her brothers was just beautiful, but the words she spoke to her mother had me sobbing.
Allie has a beautiful soul. But she has become her families doormat. She needed Seamus in her life to show her that she is better than that, and even if they are family, she should not be treated that way.
These two are fantastic together, add in the rest of the O'Brien clan, and what you end up with is a story that was nothing short of perfect

Mon avis en Français

My English review

It’s finally Seamus’ turn to present his story and as for all the novels in the series, I was really looking forward to immerse myself in this new story! It must be said that Cecy Robson rarely disappoints!

We discover this O’Brien brother and Allie, two characters that everything seems to oppose! While all his siblings have found their half and are about to get married, the oldest of all seems irretrievably alone. But now, the marriage is approaching, he is spoiled and he is determined to prove to them that he can find a nice girl! For her part, Allie is a pretty lonely young woman and while her sister is the one who has everything “beautiful, intelligent, famous”, she seems to live in her shadow, while she doesn’t say a thing because “this is family”. But the marriage of her sister with her ex, an ex she thought to marry before is difficult for her. Therefore she sees an opportunity when Seamus agrees to make an agreement and passes for her boyfriend, if she wants to do the same for him!

I really liked this novel and I must say that I easily connected to Allie. She tries to do her best in her family and yet she is treated in an execrable way by her mother or even by her sister. I was happy to see her change, to gain confidence and finally to manage to say stop even if it’s not easy. Her meeting with Seamus will change everything. It must be said that he has everything for him! Yet he must overcome his past as well.

It was a great novel! As I said Cecy Robson always manages to get me into her stories and Save Me is a perfect example! I strongly advise you to try her series. They are all fantastic!

Save Me (O’Brien Family #5) by Cecy Robson
•Pressure
Another amazing HEA O'Brien story! Cecy has done a wonderful job with this family s series. Is believable and makes you not only shake your head along with the characters but she makes you wanna scream oh and don't forget crying, and laughing... Just a rainbow of emotions, but oh SOOOOOO worth it!! I still have to read the first 2 within this series but know I'll reread the entire series from the beginning again, bits and pieces of this series will stick with me always! Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via IndieSagePR for an honest blog tour review.

I wanted to like this title. I have read other books by this author and I have enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to it.

And, there were parts of this title that I enjoyed. However, the way the dialog was written, I was not ever able to feel fully connected to the characters. I know it seems small, but they always felt like carictares and like they were not real, but the stereotypical character.

I don't know, they could be based on real people, and this could be a totally accurate depiction...but it pulled me out of the story.

I am not able to recommend this title.

4.5 stars but I only took that 1/2 star off b/c there wasn’t more of the “good, sexy sex stuff”, if you know what I mean 😉 Great happily ever after for the O’Briens (and maybe a few other characters you might know from a certain other series - yay!!). This really cheered me up!

Save Me by Cecy Robson is the fifth book in the O’Brien Family series, which incidentally, is an offshoot of the Shattered Pasts series (just a bit of trivia!). In its most basic form, the story revolves around two lonely people, in need of saving, who save each other.

Save Me revolves around the third eldest O’Brien child Seamus, who, let’s face it, is a carefree womaniser. His family adore him but think that as he’s getting older, and they are all settling down themselves, he needs to find a good woman, preferably one that won’t steal their wallets whenever they are not looking! The loving pressure from his family has Seamus inventing a ‘good girl’ girlfriend; the only problem he hasn’t met her yet. Enter Allie Mendes. Allie has problems of her own, but unlike Seamus’ family’s loving encouragement, Allie is the recipient of disinterested disrespect from all members of her family. A family occasion and a chance reunification with Seamus leads to an arrangement where they will be each other’s, romantic partners... Let the games begin!

This series of books, along with the Shattered Pasts trilogy, is characterised by emotion with a capital E. Some of these stories have left me in tears, and while Seamus’ wicked sense of humour and just general carefree personality stop the story from becoming too heavy, it is still an emotional ride.

I love Cecy Robson’s writing style, it just grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. Her characters are well developed, and you can’t help but fall a little in love with Seamus and sympathise entirely with Allie. I also loved that Angus (the eldest brother) also got his closure in this book.

It is possible to read this book without reading the previous titles in the series, but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it. Although each book has a different couple, they all blend together to form a story that spans eight books over the two series. The books would be a much more shallow experience without knowing the backstories to the other characters, and there are a lot of inside jokes and conversations that just wouldn’t make much sense without having read the previous titles.

I have absolutely loved my time with the madcap O’Brien family, and Save Me is a fitting end to the series. I’d highly recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys an emotional rollercoaster peppered with a lot of laughs and a genuine ‘feel good’ vibe.

Save Me is the fifth book in Cecy Robeson’s O’Brien Family series and was a marvel to read.

Seamus O’Brien is almost forty years old and has abysmal taste in women. This fact has never bothered him before; quite at easy with a string of one-night stands or short-term relationships, he never put much effort into finding ‘the one’. But now with all his siblings in loving relationships and three upcoming weddings, Seamus is desperate for respectable women to introduce to his rowdy ‘If you cut us, we’d bleed Leprechauns that would dance a jig the moment their little feet hit the floor’ Irish family.

Ever since she discovered her boyfriend had slept with her sister, Allie Mendes has had no desire to be in a relationship, instead she has spent the past few years working on growing her real-estate business. That begins to change when her mother drops news that Allie’s perfect, do-no-wrong-sister is getting married… to Allie’s high school sweetheart.

A chance meeting brings Allie and Seamus together at the perfect moment, Allie needs a stand-in boyfriend to avoid looking like the lonely jilted sister, and Seamus needs a woman suitable to bring to his siblings weddings.

The last thing either of them expects is to have their own chance at forever.

I have loved the crude yet lovably rowdy O’Brien family since we met them in Once Pure (the last novel in the Shattered Past Series), and was over the moon when I discovered Cecy Robson was giving the family a spin off series. I have loved each and every O’Brien throughout the series and Seamus was no different.

Seamus was so will written, with Robson creating a perfect balance between his rough and often crude side, and the sweet genuine man he is to those he cares about.

“I was mortified to be so easily forgotten, especially given my history with Seamus and his family. I wanted to dismiss him as a simple thick headed brute. Until he remembered my kindness.”

Save Me is a slow burn romance, which at times I found to be a little too slow for my liking. This however did give you the chance to really get into the characters heads and makes that happily ever after that much sweeter.

“I fell for you. More than once, I fell hard… from the first moment you really smiled at me… to the day I bared my soul to you… I love you Allie, I Just need you to love me too.”

Full of heartfelt moments that will have you reaching for the tissues, and humour that makes you laugh out loud, Save Me was a fabulous novel.

This was a hilarious romantic comedy that I blew through in just one afternoon! If you can only read one book on a vacation, pick this one up and at least read to Chapter 6. That chapter is one of the funniest pieces of writing I have read in quite some time. I generally pick up romances not thinking it's going to be very funny - a lot of books just seem to lean more on the heavy side these days, with lots of angst and drama. While this book did have those things as well, the comic relief brought by the two main characters' interactions was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Allie Mendes is facing her worst nightmare - her sister is getting married to Allie's ex-boyfriend, who cheated on her seven years ago with said sister. Confronted by them in a bakery, standing beside a hot guy from her past, she prays to God to save her. And he gives her none other than Seamus O'Brien. There is no way that Seamus O'Brien can find a nice girl to be his date to his sister's wedding. Having slept his way through the beds of women who would rather steal his wallet than steal his heart, most women who want him do not fit the bill. But into his life crashes Allie Mendes, and with a few tweaks to her wardrobe and a large helping of self confidence, and she could be the best thing that ever happened to him. If they can just keep up their relationship charade long enough to fool their respective families. What could go wrong?

This is an adult version of the classic trope nerdy-girl-turned-popular that I haven't seen often in a romantic novel but love all the same! Seamus is a shameless flirt who just can't help being that way - at 37 years of age, it is highly unlikely he will ever change, so he just embraces himself for who he is. His family constantly mocks him for his many bad dating choices, particularly the ones who have led to him losing money, clothing, or both. What's possibly the funniest thing about his character is how nice he is and how much he wants a relationship, but he just simply has the worst case of horniness. And then there's Allie - this poor thing has really had it bad for a while! Her mom is terrible, her sister is someone I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy...okay, maybe my worst, but still...and she has been put in the really unhappy situation of being dateless during the worst time in her life. Thankfully, she and Seamus hit it off quickly, and their chemistry is off the charts. Even though they don't see it at first, it's obvious that their strong friendship is sure to become a romance soon. When it does, it just gives you a really happy feeling inside.

I have read other books by Cecy Robson and really liked them! The great thing about this series is that you don't really have to read the other books to understand this one, and so you can literally dive in at will into any of these books. I can't wait to go back and read the earlier books to learn more about the O'Brien family!
