Man rushed to hospital after ‘hammer attack’ in Arbroath as four arrested

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after an alleged hammer attack in Arbroath.

Emergency services swooped on Sidney Street in the Angus town around 3pm on Saturday amid reports of a disturbance.

An ambulance crew raced a 42-year-old man to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was reportedly blocked off as officers brought an end to the alleged scrap.

Three men and a woman were arrested by officers on the residential street.

A 35-year-old man is due at Forfar Sheriff Court today, charged in connection with the alleged hammer attack.

Two other men, aged 35 and 39, and a 31-year-old woman have been charged in relation to the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called around 3pm on Saturday February 1 following a report of a disturbance on Sidney Street, Arbroath.

"A 42-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital with a serious injury.

"A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection and is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Monday February 3.

"Two men, aged 35 and 39, and a 31-year-old woman have been charged in connection and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

It comes after police launched a hunt for two thugs who left a man with facial injuries after a street attack in Glasgow.
