REYNOLDS WINS SECOND STRAIGHT BIG SOUTH HONOR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Freshman Amelia Reynolds has been named Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week once again, making her the first athlete in program history to win back-to-back weekly conference honors and the first in program history to win two in the same season.

Reynolds got the Raleigh Relays started by placing 11th out of 54 sprinters with a time of 12.11 seconds in the 100-meter dash on Friday.

Then, alongside Kierra Henderson, Alexis Stafford and La'Tisha Chambers, she was a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that broke the Radford school record with a time of 46.93 seconds, placing second in their section and seventh overall.

Reynolds took that success to the 200-meter dash where she topped the field, crossing the finish line in 24.17 seconds. That marks a new personal record and ranks second in program history behind Khadijah Conda's 23.93 from the Johnny Mathis Open in 2000.

Capping an unbelievable day, Ryan Paine, Chambers, Karah Foster and Reynolds finished the 4x400-meter relay with a huge season best of 3:52.87. It goes down as the fifth-fastest 4x4 in school history and easily tops Radford's previous best this season of 4:08.81.

"Amelia ran a very impressive 200m on Saturday," said assistant coach Shelli Sayers. "Then, to bounce back less than 30 minutes later and split 54 on the 4x400m relay was exciting to watch. She has our school record in her sights in the 200m and is going for it this season."

The Monmouthshire, Wales native is the third Highlander to win two Big South weekly awards in her career, joining Teresa Williamson and Shemelia Brandon.

Reynolds and the rest of the Radford track & field program are back in action this weekend at South Carolina's Gamecock Invitational.
