The 16-year-old had been within the park along with a 16-year-old girl when they were approached by a large group of teenagers.

One of the teens sparked a violent altercation which has left the lad “permanently scarred”.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The suspect, understood to have been on a bike, is described as around 15 years of age, around 5ft 5 of slim build with short, shaved blonde hair.

He was wearing shorts and t-shirt and was riding a black BMX bike. Officers are also looking to identify the other members of the group who were with him.

Detective Constable Stephen Palmer, Stewart Street Police Office, said: “This attack has left a teenager with a serious injury which will leave him permanently scarred. Violence will not be tolerated in our communities and it is vital that we find the person responsible for this.

“At this time we do not know exactly why this altercation took place and we are appealing for anyone who knows anything about it to get in touch with police.

“There is a playpark near to where this incident took place which people would have been using at the time. Somebody must have seen something.

“Do you remember seeing a teenager on a black BMX with a group of others in Kelvingrove Park last night?”

Four teenagers were arrested and two 16-year-old boys were taken to hospital after an alleged brawl at the park yesterday.
