PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Less than 24 hours after tossing a nine-inning perfect game against Dominican College, junior
Dan Wirchansky (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland/RCC) of the Pace University baseball team has been selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Wirchansky, who was handed the ball in Pace's season opener on Sunday, put together one of the most dominant pitching performances in program history. The Stony Point native tallied a career-high 16 strikeouts against the Chargers, including a string of seven-straight from the second to the fourth inning. His other 11 putouts came in the form of seven pop/fly-outs and four ground outs. Wirchansky's stellar performance fueled an 8-0 win over Dominican in Game One of a doubleheader sweep to begin the Setters' season.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action this week for three more contests. Pace will take part in a home-and-home series against NYIT before hosting LIU Post on Thursday. Â
