Wotofo Profile RDA

I have been using the wotofo Kanthal mesh but want to ideally for for SS316 for temp control

The Vandy Vape 200 SS316 mesh comes on a roll and is 12mm wide, and a 40mm section has approx 0.16ohm

So shortening to 16mm for Wotofo resistance will decrease to around 0.064ohm

But as it's narrowed to 6.8m resistance should increase to around 0.12ohm shouldn't it? (Fag packet maths so not perfectly accurate)

Has anyone used different mesh in a Wotofo profile?

Resistance wont increase if there's less mesh, it'll decrease. Less material, lower resistance. Wotofo told me they wouldn't be doing SS mesh due to it being too fragile. Also the Wotofo mesh isn't the same as the VV as it's perforated sheet as opposed to woven wire mesh.
Also 0.12ohm (if you can get it to that) is too low for accurate TC with SS, not enough resistance change when heated for the board to calculate temperature.

I understand that resistance will decrease with length, a 1.2ohm per foot of vandy mesh equates to approx 0.16ohms for a 40mm (1.5") piece

But the width being halved surely Increases resistance?

Dual coils halve the resistance compared to a single, so effectively 6 mm wide mesh would halvw the resistance of a single 6mm wide piece?

Similarly a 30g wire has more resistance compared to a 24g of same length?

That was the logic I was thinking?

I've done loads of coil builds of various types so was thinking mesh must follow same rule?

EDIT:

Vandy do NI80 and Kanthal mesh which is higher resistance if needed but stainless has always been my go to wire

And TC works well on my mod at 0.12 ohm (Smok with TCR adjusted to 92 for 316L)

re mesh ive seen plenty raving about this stuff on offer here

good call @cheltenham cat @MuddyTruck I was asking questions about mesh and two very fine apes recommend that to me to be fair iv not tryed any other mesh but do make my own coils considering it’s Kanthal the ramp up time is instant if you got a few penny’s in your pocket I’d say buy a pack and see how you get on :2thumbsup:

I have seen those nexmesh ones and they do look good

I was just looking at alternatives, and as a roll works out cheap per mesh strip, thought it would be ideal

It's the only downside I can really see compared to the Vandy vape mesh RDA, the lack of choice for mesh for the profile....

Found a post after lots of research on another forum

Vandy 200 mesh (1.2 ohm per foot)
Piece cut down to profile size ohms at 0.17ohm so a fraction more than my fag packet calculation but actually pretty ideal!
So I may get a roll of the mesh!

Got a VV Mesh RDA on the way as got it for a huge discount so will compare the 2 RDAs

Personally I love the look and design of the wotofo profile and the spring loaded centre does work in keeping the cotton against the mesh even when saturated

But the VV mesh RDA does have considerably more surface area as it's a 40mm X 12mm mesh coil compared with 16mm X 6.8mm

I have now given up on mesh because the rules that apply to wire coils don't apply to mesh and I can no longer be arsed trying to figure it out. All I can tell you is that the drainpipe analogy does not work.
