The Workers Compensation System is broken: Fix It!

The NSW government made cuts to workers compensation in 2012. The government said the fund was unsustainable and cut benefits to injured workers. Four thousand workers were cut off on Boxing Day 2017. However, a new report reveals that the government is actually sitting on a growing surplus of over $1 billion.
Anyone injured at work today - including your or your family - won't get the support they need because of these cuts.
There is hope. On 23 October 2019, news laws were proposed to fix the workers compensation. This law would restore medical and compensation benefits for injured workers and help any injured worker who can work to find a job. You or I could be injured at work tomorrow. But this shouldn't ruin our lives. That's we why need a workers compensation system that provides medical and living support - to ensure everyone can still have a decent life.
A recent report on the NSW workers compensation system revealed the fund has a $2.4 billion surplus. It's clear NSW can afford to provide a decent standard of life for any injured worker. Yet the government has cut benefits to these injured workers. I believe these cuts should be reversed to help workers who have been injured at work.
