Cock Blocked

Rate this book
An uninvited ex-girlfriend; an overly flirtatious competitor; a completely untenable work situation…how many obstacles can one man put in his own way in the pursuit of the disinterested woman he can’t seem to get out of his head?

Camden Atwood is devastatingly gorgeous, cocky as sin and as Hollywood’s reigning “it” guy, not use to hearing the word “no” when he sets his sites on a woman. When Camden meets Kate Prescott, the ambitious, smart-mouthed new junior publicist assigned to handle him on an international press tour for his latest movie, he’s hooked from the minute his private jet is wheels up.

With a coveted promotion on the line, however, Kate has all the motivation in the world to steer clear of a romantic entanglement with her sheet-clenchingly hot new client. Camden is nothing if not always up for a challenge, especially when the game of cat and mouse is this sexy and this fun. The universe may have other plans however as it stacks the decks against this playboy in his pretty publicist pursuit.

Camden Atwood is your stereotypical Hollywood star. He overindulges in women and partying. He’s used to getting what he wants whenever he wants without putting much, if any, effort into it.
“As of late, bars had become a bit of a pussy buffet for me. I’d pick out a woman I wanted to fuck, approach her, order a bottle of something expensive with two glasses, and seal the deal.”

Kate Prescott has been a PR assistant to Evelyn, a very well-known Hollywood PR agent, for the last 3 years. She is independent, speaks her mind and takes no crap.

Cam meets Kate when she accompanies Evelyn on a trip to his house. He is attracted and intrigued. He manipulates it so Kate has to go on his overseas press junket for his current movie. Instead of falling into his arms easily, she makes him work for it. Kate is attracted but isn’t willing to jeopardize her career, or self-respect, for a manwhore. As their relationship evolves, he becomes this man:
“Kate, I want to be the man who knows all of those seemingly inconsequential things about you- and I want to be the only one who does. Because all of the little things that make you up, make you the most beautiful person in the world to me.”
I went from disliking Cam to respecting all the thought and effort he put into chasing Kate. They go through their share of problems to get their HEA. They have fun, eventually some steamy sex, and work it out.

Amber is one of Cam’s playthings. She is out for a good time and what she can net from it. I thought it was really weird how Cam continued to keep her around and Kate didn’t seem to mind either. I get that she sorta redeems herself eventually, but still a strange situation. If it were me, she would have been gone immediately. No ifs, ands or buts.

Manwhores generally rub me the wrong way, as Cam did in the beginning. Why must they all be manwhores? I did enjoy watching Cam evolve into a decent human being while wooing Kate.

Loved the Veruca Salt reference!!

One thing that did bother me. Kate is American. Cam is British. While it felt perfectly normal for him to call her love, it really bugged me when part way through the book she began using it as he did. I was like, did she become British all of a sudden? It didn’t feel right. Just my opinion of course.

Cock Blocked by Sabrina Monet is her first book in her Jetsetter series and give us a story about a top Hollywood actor used to getting his way and the woman that changes everything. It was a fun romantic comedy with all kinds of mishaps and laugh out loud moments.

Camden Atwood is one of Hollywood’s hottest actors. He is in high demand and has everything he could ever want. There is no end to the women willing to warm his bed. But could he finally be ready for me? Camden was your typical actor, used to getting what he wants he was cocky and confident, but he was also just a man and was vulnerable.

Kate Prescott has worked very hard to be taken seriously as a publicist and now is her chance to prove she deserves the promotion she wants. But once Camden sets his sights on her, she knows she needs to keep him arm’s length. The last thing that would be smart for her career is falling for her client I loved Kate, she was strong, determined and very professional. But she cannot stop the attraction she feels for Camden.

Camden and Kate meet in the funniest of ways and seem to set each other off. But when she is assigned to be his publicist on his next press tour, he is determined win her over. But when his ex-girlfriend and a very friendly opponent are on the same touch, he has his work cut out for him. But wit his past and her determination, can the find a way to be together?

Cock Blocked was a funny and sexy story about two people who have such a strong connection but find obstacles at every turn. Is it even worth pursuing? I loved Camden because he so determined, but we could also see his vulnerability. Kate is fighting hard for her future; can she take a risk for happiness with Camden when so much in on the line? I enjoyed reading this story and am looking for more on this series.

Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I was pleasantly surprised by this book, I really enjoyed it. So we meet Cam and I have to say at the first inset I was not crazy about him, he was another yup you guessed it a Manwhore. He was instantly attracted to Kate, and she was with him also but he is now her client and she does not want to seem unprofessional. Now I did want them to get together and I was rooting for them, the only thing that bothered me was when he was playing stupid with Amber trying to get her jealous, it was immature and it kind of bugged me that here is Kate a smart woman and that she would jump into bed with him, right after that I am mean ewwww, yeah no a self respecting woman would either wait or find out the truth. But besides that I loved and enjoyed everything else, loved Lizzy and Matt and the others, even Amber in the long run..Enjoy!

I was gifted an ARC for an honest review.

These characters were so good - right from the first chapter the author drew you in. Kate stood up for what she wanted (ok eventually in some parts), gave back as good as she got and was strong. Cam was sigh...it was good to see him falling, seeing his insecurities and how he dealt with them.

The secondary characters were good - loved Lizzy and Cam's mum - not so much his brother.

It is a love (or lust) at first sight but it builds to something that is lovely. Great debut book.

This is the first book that I have read of Sabrina Monet and I was pleasantly surprised. The synopsis of the book sounded intriguing and I could not wait to read the book. Camden Atwood is your typical Hollywood heartthrob, handsome, cocky and everything that you ever dreamed of in a Hollywood "it" guy. What happens when he Camden can't get rid of a "one-night stand" .... in walks Kate Prescott, who impresses him from the moment he meets her ....

If you want the definition of "cock blocked" then every time Camden gets anywhere with Kate something always happens. Monet does a great job in adding humor to the novel to ensure that the readers are in for a good time. I loved the interactions between the characters and loved the story line. It is different from some of the other books out there and was a real treat to read. Camden is a likable character and easy to like and I really found myself enjoying Kate. She is fierce, firey and goes after what she wants .... no matter what the circumstances.

If you are looking for a fun read, then Cock Blocked is the book for you. Sabrina Monet does not disappoint in this fun, sexy book. Make sure you add it to your To-Be-Read Shelf!

received coy for honest review
Kate and Camden's story was a good surprise. They are a fun couple. Scene one finds Cam in a sticky morning after situation. Kate comes to his rescue and some how is maneuvered into going on a publicity tour with Cam and his entourage. Cam takes one look at Kate and decide he wants her but he doesn't how her Cam the man, he shows her Cam the movie star. He basically cock blocked himself. He has to work hard to get Kate to give him a chance. Kate is no pushover. She has a job to do and she will not let anything get in her way; not even her attraction to Cam. She puts up a good fight that eventually ends in defeat. The story has a couple you will love to root for. They are cute together and their scenes were fun in some cases, sexy. Cam has met his match with Kate. They have to get through friends, gossip, and their personal pasts to get their HEA. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Camdan is trying to keep his image clean and was assigned a publicist to join in on his press junket. Only problem is Kate is unlike any publicist he has ever had and he wants to get close to her. Monet takes us for a ride in the life of Hollywood elite as the story travels to Canada, Japan, China, UK, and Italy. Well rounded characters and a great look into the life of Hollywood stars.

*I received this ARC for an honest review.

This was a slow burn type of novel. I loved the characters. They all had their own uniqueness and purpose in the story.
Kate came into Cam’s life like a breath of fresh air. He hadn’t realized what he was missing in life until he truly met her. Kate is determined not to be another notch on Cam’s bedpost. She’s a respectable Jr Publicist and one tour away from a great promotion. She instantly likes Cam but she knows the Hollywood type. She doesn’t want to be a one night stand or used in anyway. Unfortunately she’s had enough of that from her mother.
The more time Kate and Cam spend together, the more they are both falling head over heels.
This was a great story about two people slowly falling in love.

Cock Blocked is a romantic comedy that takes us around the globe with super-star Camden Atwood and his public relations adviser, Kate Prescott. The first chapter was arguably the best for me. I loved the chemistry between these characters from the onset. I laughed. I got angry at the characters. I smiled at their HEA. The story is rather predictable, but highly enjoyable. Great character development, too! I definitely recommend this book.

Laughed and cried throughout this thoroughly entertaining story.

When the book starts out, Camden seems cocky and arrogant. He is fun to see interact with Kate but just seems to be a man that is only looking out for himself. He’s not a bad guy just burned by his past and now only looking out for himself. His friends seem that way to very vacuous but as the tour for his movie begins and continues we see so many changes. We see Camden change and start to question his choices. WE see him fall in love and want to change. He becomes more serious and more grounded. You see how he still enjoys life but wants more from it now. It is Kate that has this change occur. She makes him want more. Want the love and family. Only problem-Kate is his publicist.

Kate is strong, independent and sassy. She has no problems putting Camden in his place and that does turn him on. She is a challenge to him and one he revels in taking on. the attraction between them is sizzling as is their witty, sarcastic and fun banter. The ways they get a rise from one another is entertaining. We see Kate slowly see that Camden is more than a pretty face as well. We see his kind and caring side come out. How he is loyal and also protective. He has a fun side but also a serious side and when he finds a balance it is sexy as sin.

when they figure out their feelings and act we get some really sexy scenes. We see them work harmoniously together but there is still some unfinished pain in their lives that cause them to falter. kate is afraid to let him in but also to let go of her past. For Camden his past comes to his present and pushes his buttons. Causing him so much self doubt and that he isn’t what anyone would want because of his celebrity. It pushes him over the edge and he reacts. Only it causes the wrong reaction in Kate and a domino affect occurs. We see them both in pain and sad but trying to ignore it. Watching them work things out is sweet and tender as well. We see him have such faith in Kate and hope as well. His love and patience for her have no bounds and it is great to see him go from playboy to this sweet and swoony man before our eyes. That isn’t to say we don’t get entertained along the way for we do and it has you smile and laugh.

the characters you fall in love with and their time together is entertaining and shows us how this ragtag group become close knit and how camden and Kate fall in love and find their way to one another while letting go of the past.

4.5 Stars!

Wow, what a captivating read from brand new author Sabrina Monet! Cock Blocked grabs you right from the beginning and the Hollywood vibe is completely engrossing. The two primary characters, junior public relations executive Kate Prescott, and megastar thespian Camden Atwood, have amazing chemistry, and their evolving relationship is replete with desire, enlightenment and love. This is the first book from Ms. Monet's Jetsetter series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Kate is on the cusp of earning a big promotion, however, she has no idea that her boss and mentor is actually a first-rate bag-stabber. Managing Camden through the international press tour of his latest film is Kate's newest assignment, and she plans on making it an overwhelming success. Camden's popularity, as well as his cockiness and notorious womanizing, are hurdles that Kate will undoubtedly have to deal with during their time together. From the onset, they both find each other extremely attractive and over a very short period of time, they fall in love.

I really liked this novel and the story was beyond enjoyable. I instantly bonded with both Kate and Camden because they were extremely realistic and lively characters. Their sexy times were filled with desire and love. The secondary characters were delightfully genuine and their personalities intertwined perfectly with the plot and the conflicts that were going on. Amanda, Camden's former friend with benefits, was surprisingly insightful, and James was just an exceptional moocher. If you are looking for a contemporary read with a lot passion, fun, and celebrity, then pick up a copy of this book.

This is the story of Kate and Cam. Kate is a publicist, assigned to "it" guy in Hollywood, Cam. Cam is the love them and leave them kind of guy...exactly the kind of guy Kate is determined to stay away from. But Cam won't be easily swayed and makes it his mission while on a publicity tour for his latest movie to make Kate see him as so much more.

The more time Kate spends with Cam, the more he is wearing her down but she knows giving into her desires could mean losing everything...including her heart.

My review:

The intro for this book intrigued me...I love a good Hollywood story...and this one didn't disappoint. Cam is the jerk you want to hate when you first meet him that you quickly come to love and Kate is the character you admire for trying her best to keep Cam at arms length.

The story was well written with a good flow and just the right amount of ups and downs to keep the reader interested.

My thoughts:

POV: switches between Cam and Kate
Quick hook or slow starter? 4 (I was hooked from the first chapter)
Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 4
Passion/Heat level: 4 (This one takes a little time but well worth the wait)
Angst/Heartbreak: 4 (Just the right amount of drama for the story)
Cliffhanger?: Nope, nice ending

Overall, I thought it was good and can't wait to see what this author has in store next in this series.

I received an ARC of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say? When I first started this story, I had no clue what to expect, so of course the open mind was in effect. Sabrina Monet has a way of pulling you into her story and her world, and …before you know it… has you engrossed.

As her blurb states, our two main characters are Cam and Kate. They are from different worlds with different reasons to move forward in business.

What ya don’t realize is that “Cock Blocked” is a romance on an entirely different level. Dealing with issues during their tour forces them to realize they work better together than apart.

We all have heard someone say “The struggle is real”. Well, this story really shows just how real it can get. Unexpected turns and events create havoc with each day and before you know it, you are cheering these two on and hoping their strengths as well as faith in each other will shine brightly in the end.

The beauty Sabrina brings to each sentence melts into your mind making for a deep setting that rolls with each page turned.

To say the least, I cannot begin to pass on all the accolades of congrats I wish for Sabrina Monet in this story, and highly suggest you join me in enjoying this 5-star read.

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. I really loved how this story was told. Dual POV's which made it all the more interesting. We have Kate a PR rep from Masters PR and Evelyn Masters her boss. We have Camden/Cam Atwood her client, his sister Lizzy. Matt, Lizzy's love interest. There were so many characters that fully influenced the whole story. They were great. The story for Kate and Cam was would they be able to get over their past to head to a bright future between them? Cam's past had to do with an unfaithful fiancé and Kate had hang-ups because she was child TV star with a mother that craved the spotlight. It seemed from the book that Kate's mother did not care as much for her as she should have. She cared more about herself than for Kate. As the relationship between Kate and Cam blossomed it was interrupted by insecurities, loyalties, fear of the past, all kind of emotion. This was really interesting to read and had me on the edge of seat some times. Definitely a page turner. An excellent read and a beautiful romance

This is the first book I have read by Sabrina Monet and it won’t be the last, Cock Blocked was a brilliant introduction to a new author. This book is slow burn type of read it gives you time to get to know the characters and everyone of them had a unique reason for being in the story.
Kate is a publicist assigned to Cam a Hollywood Star who is the man every girl wants to get to know, everyone except Kate because Cam is the sort of man she stays away from, she has no interest in the man who is never going to settle down but that doesn’t stop Cam doing his best to make her change her mind about him whilst on a publicity tour that they both need to be on. The more time they spend together the more Cam wears Kate down but if she gives in will she lose everything she has worked for and more importantly would she lose her heart.......
This was a brilliant read and I urge you all to one click, I certainly can’t wait for more from Sabrina Monet.

This was a good read for me. The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were developed nicely. Cam and Kate were great together, and their chemistry was hot! I enjoyed the secondary characters for the most part. Lizzy was great, even though she was a little scatterbrained at times. Amber ended up redeeming herself in my eyes, but James was pretty much a hanger on. There were so many times that I wanted to shake Kate and tell her she was being silly. She had her reasons to be cautious, but she took that to the extreme. She never wanted to believe the best in Cam, even though he proved himself to her. I was happy to see Cam be able to reconnect with his family, although I'm not sure I would have been able to forgive the things that happened. The ending was perfect for these two. I would love to find out what happens with Matt and Lizzy!

Pleasing beginning to a promising career as a romance author. One spoiled, cocky Hollywood actor that feels the world is his playground and all that fills it are his to pick at his whim. That would be Camden. He so sure of himself that he feels this would be easy as pie. But then he never truly meet Kate or anyone like her. Kate has the chance to make herself seen and build upon her name to get a coveted position. She would only go so far and Mr. Camden Atwood was not on her to do list. I enjoyed both Kate and Cam. I loved the secondary character. They added an extra layer of flavor. This was a fun filled ride in the skies across the world. This was in-deed a romantic comedy that kept it coming.

Overall, I would say that Monet did herself a good job and delivered on the romantic comedy, romance, fun and flavor for her first novel. This was the opening door to what I would say will be a promising new series.

Cock Blocked was an entertaining read and lots of fun to boot.
Camden Atwood is uses to getting anything he likes and that includes women. When feisty Kate Prescott appears in his home and cleverly removes his unwanted overnight guest, he’s grateful but slightly bemused as to her identity.
Kate it seems is an ambitious, hard working publicist assigned to work with playboy Cam. To her dismay, she feels attracted to the hot Brit, but with a promotion in her sights she must stay clear of all romantic involvements with him.
The story is masterly written, with snappy come backs and witty banter. The characters were fun and interesting, and the storyline kept us guessing which way Cam and Kate’s relationship was going to go.
Very enjoyable, I liked it very much!

Camden and Kate took me on a fun and sexy journey. From the moment they met, Cam immediately is drawn to Kate’s feistiness. She rescues him and impresses him at the same time and then he finds out she works for his publicist. As he embarks on a tour to promote his latest movie, Kate is assigned to keep him inline and she isn’t allowed to date the clients. Cam won’t take no for an answer. I loved all the fun and flirty moments as these two as Cam worked to bring down Kate’s walls. Of course, being in the public eye adds drama that works against them. I enjoyed every up and down as they had to learn to trust each other along this rocky road to love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This is a charming, sweet romance that made me laugh. I loved the plot line!

Camden Atwood is accustomed to getting what he wants, but when he meets his new junior publicist, Kate, he realises he doesn't want anybody else - just her. Along the way, he messes up in the cheesiest, sometimes cringe-worthiest ways possible in his bid to get into her pants. After receiving advice from an unlikely ally, he starts to see Kate in a new light, and realises her heart is the most valuable possession he could ever hope to own.

This light romance had a host of very likeable, engaging characters that I definitely would love to see more of. I enjoyed my first read of Sabrina Monet.

I don't think Camden knows what to do with his woman, “of course. What girl doesn’t love a polite compliment?” she said with a gloriously naughty gleam in her eye, just before leaning in and whispering in my ear. “And I’m sure you won’t mind me telling you that those jeans are doing amazing things to showcase that very impressive package of yours tonight, as well.” Almost instantaneously, my cocktail was spewed all over the bar." Camden is his own man, "to be quite honest, I didn’t give a eff who saw me in here at this point. As far as I was concerned, I belonged with her, and she with me, and that was it." I really liked this book, I fell in love with Camden.

Kate is hoping to get her promotion by going on a publicity tour with the arrogant, womanizing, and oh so hot and sexy movie star, Camden Atwood.  From the first moment they met, he wanted to get into her pants, but her job is on the line and she's too intelligent to become another notch on his bedpost.  Famous last words?

Cam fell head over heels the first time Kate whispered in his ear, "“Just give me a wink, and I’ll make her disappear", but his antics and lifestyle pushed her away.  Can he redeem himself before it is too late?

OMG, for her very first book this author has knocked it out of the park. The m/c had great chemistry right from the get go. This book had romance, comedy, sex and best of all (to me anyways) is a actual story. I loved the secondary characters and hope to see more of them since this looks to be a series. I hope this author can keep up this level of writing. I highly recommend this book and I definitely look forward to reading more by her.

This story is a hit! I love this group of characters! Cam, the super star stud of this story is his own worst enemy. He over thinks situations, over reacts, and emotionally hurts himself in the process.

Kate, his handler, has become the object of his affection. However, being the professional she is, she does everything in her power to refuse his advances.

There is an abundance of laughs, lots of drama and some very steamy romance in these pages. I am looking forward to reading more about this group.

Camden and Kate were totally attracted to each other the first time they met. He is her client. She knows and tries so hard to keep it professional. He keeps "cock blocking" himself towards her. The more he acts up, she puts a wall up. The whole ex girlfriend thing was weird but I actually liked her in the end. Kate and Camden were perfect together. He was real, sweet and just free with Kate. I liked this story a lot. It was really great to see dual POVs. Totally recommend.

From the very start of this book I absolutely adored Kate! Cam is a famous actor and Kate has been assigned as his new junior publicist. One thing leads to another and then before you know it she’s backed into a corner and ends up going on a movie promoting tour with him. Only she’s not the only one tagging along. Hence, the merry band of “cockblockers”. Speaking of the “cbs”, I really enjoyed the supporting characters in this book and hope to read more from them in the future!

Kate is a junior publicist working on a new movie involving hot actor Camden. Camden is attracted to Kate and trying to ask her out. Kate doesn't date clients. An interesting twist when you throw in an ex girlfriend and flirty competitor. Will things heat up between Kate and Camden? Read on to find out. A good read.

I was pleasantly surprised. From the title I thought I was going to be reading your run of the mill predictable, same old same old, already been written, hot girl hot guy get naked story.
While hot guy Cam Atwood and hot girl Kate Prescott do get naked, Sabrina Monet does a great job of adding great chemistry and humor in between. While Cam was somewhat of the typical book boyfriend, I loved his cheeky personality and the fact that he wasn't to alpha to admit his vulnerabilities and soft spots.
Equally likeable character Kate was feisty, quick-witted and could not be outwardly charmed by a guy.
I would have liked to see more of the dysfunction between Kate and her mother especially toward the end of the book. I think it would have lent more credibility to Kate's back story.
About halfway through, Kate began using a more British (Cam was a Brit), stylized endearment. I couldn't appreciate it enough that it somewhat irked me. I have friends that do it And I don't find it endearing in real life that I really don't in fiction either.
Overall, this was a great story. It's light reading and lots of fun. Has a great balance of sexy, sweet and humor with a tad bit of angst.
