Annalise Johnston was ‘disliked by travelling community for being gay’ and ‘hid sexuality from family’
Her brother Jordan Johnstone, accused of her murder, told the court Annalise was in a secret relationship with a mystery woman
ANNALISE Johnstone was disliked by the travelling community for being gay and hid her sexuality from relatives, her murder trial heard today.
Jordan Johnstone, 25, told cops his sister, 22, was in a secret relationship with a mystery woman and was depressed after a phone call.
Johnstone — accused of murdering Annalise with his lover Angela Newlands, 19 — made the claims after reporting his sibling missing last May.
The High Court in Livingston heard he told police: “I knew she was feeling down, then she started shouting, calling her girlfriend a bitch.

“She was private about who her girlfriend was.”
Jurors heard Newlands told officers Annalise “could be at her girlfriend’s”.
But she added: “She won’t be at the caravan park because certain people don’t like her going because she’s gay.”
The court also heard Johnstone banged his head off the table when cops told him his sister’s body had been discovered near Auchterarder, Perthshire.
Johnstone and Newlands deny murdering Annalise, of Ardrossan, Ayrshire, by stabbing her in the neck. The trial continues.
