The Castlemilk singer will be on the main stage on Friday, July 12 before headliner Stormzy rounds off the opening night.

Responding to fans, Gerry said: “TRNSMT 2019: Let's f**kin dance.”

Catfish and the Bottlemen and George Ezra will headline on the Saturday and Sunday, with Snow Patrol, Bastille and Richard Ashcroft also making main stage appearances over the weekend.

TRNSMT festival director Ellis admitted he’s drooling over the prospect of Cinnamon and Stormzy - who will also headline one night of Glastonbury - on the main stage on the same night.

He said: “Stormzy was one of the first artists we booked, but Gerry carry the festival off by himself. The two compliment each other very well.

“Gerry Cinnamon is selling tickets all around Europe - not just in Scotland. He’s huge.

“As for Stormzy, to get someone who’s a Glastonbury headliner, is great.

“Neither of them follow the rules, they break the rules and smash the established way of doing things and do things on their own terms.

“There’s a nice balance having both on the same day. They are both in their own way kind of people’s poets.

“It will be fantastic because they are both full of energy in different ways.

“The both come from the street and they both represent real people. That’s the connection they both have and they are both individual artists.

“They are different musical genres but in terms of where they have come from and how they have established themselves, there are a lot of similarities.”

He described getting a Glastonbury headliner like Londoner Stormzy as a “coup” for Scotland.

And he added: “Glastonbury is four times the size of TRNSMT so it’s great, I’m really pleased Stormzy wanted to do it.”

Saturday July 13 will see Richard Ashcroft, former frontman of The Verve, play on the main stage at Glasgow Green, with Bastille appearing before headliners Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Snow Patrol return to Scotland on Sunday July 14, with The Wombats, The Kooks and Jess Glynne also playing that afternoon before George Ezra closes the festival.

Example, The Hunna and Circa Waves will also headline the King Tut’s Stage across the weekend at the park.

Ellis added: “This is the first time in 26 years of doing festivals that we have announced the entire line up at the start. And it’s real feast of strong artists. Catfish are probably the biggest band to come out of the UK for the last few years.

“You have one chance to launch so why not go with everything.

“We’ve got the whole bill together. The last artist to confirm was Gus Dapperton who confirmed last night and although we always thought he would, it was great to have him over the line as well.

“Times have changed - it used to be that things were drip-fed a bit more in years gone by but I think people now want to make the choice and see the line up.

“When you add things later they probably have less impact now than they did in the past.

“I think it’s the way people are nowadays. They look at something once and make a decision. Maybe it’s a millennial thing or a post millennial thing.

“Making minor adjustments further down the line doesn’t make anyone decide to go or not go, so we might as well go with the full line up.”

He added: “Catfish and the Bottlemen are one of the biggest, strongest live acts to come out of the UK as a band since Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys - they’re a band that can sell tens of thousands of tickets in their own right.

“Bastille have great anthems, likewise with Richard Ashcroft with all The Verve anthems. And DMA’s, Scotland seems to be their strongest territory.

“On Sunday to have George Ezra close the show is a real fan’s favourite. Snow Patrol have been away for a long time and had a storming night at the Hydro a couple of weeks ago. Played a greatest hits song with a few new songs as well.

“Jess Glynne is another act that’s sold out the Hydro. Put that together over one weekend is a fantastic line-up and great value for money, I think.”

TRNSMT will take place in Glasgow Green from 12-14 July 2019, with tickets on sale from Friday 22nd February from WWW.TRNSMTFEST.COM
