Expansion hype is well and truly here.

The kickoff stream for Hearthstone’s next expansion, The Witchwood, has concluded.

In the stream hosted by senior designer Peter Whalen and legendary caster Dan “Frodan” Chou, the pair unveiled cards and discussed the potential implications.

The stream is the start of card reveal season. Now community sites and content creators will unveil cards over the next few weeks, until the expansion launches in April.

This is a pretty mediocre vanilla Taunt minion. Gone are the days of Sludge Belcher and Antique Healbot as strong common control tools. Expect to see this an option from Stonehill Defender, but not much else.

If you miss Force of Nature, how about a Force of Nature that puts the trees in your hand and still doesn’t have Charge? No, didn’t think so. Maybe Token Druid could be a thing, especially with the next card revealed too.

If you miss Whispers of the Old Gods, this is the card for you. If you do nothing for four turns it’s great! But you’re a board control-focused deck that’s done nothing for four turns. Maybe there’s a control deck that will use this to fight pressure?

It’s Loatheb without the theoretical three mana 5/5—that’s a card I’d like to see.

Babbling Book for Shaman? This is a nice tool for Shaman, which doesn’t have a ton of value generating cards. Mana Tide Totem is basically it. Generating spells could be a flavor for the new meta, with the new Hero card Hagatha also offering that in its hero power.

The set is now available to pre-order, with a massive 70 packs available for $49.99—the most packs ever on offer for that price as part of a pre-order and 20 more than usual.

No release date has been confirmed for the expansion, only that it will arrive by mid-April.
