About this ebook

A magnificent new romance by New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase.

Dean Walker is all about keeping life simple. He's effortlessly talented and intelligent—spending his summers playing drums in the local band and the rest of the year teaching high school in the same Jersey town where he grew up. He likes his love life simple too, enjoying the commitment-free hook-ups his good looks and sexy charm have always made oh so easy.

Then he meets Lainey Burrows. And his simple, easy life gets turned upside down.

One wild one-night stand was all it was ever supposed to be, so Lainey is shocked when she discovers that her sizzling summer fling is also her son's new math teacher. But that's nothing compared to the most unexpected twist of all—their hot hook-up left Lainey knocked up, and now they're about to become parents. Together.

What ensues is an addictive, insatiable, sweet and tender romance that won't be simple, but it will be more than worth the fight.

"This story was fast paced, wickedly sharp and, brought to life by supremely stellar narration, it's another unputdownable story I never wanted to end." –Jessica, Angie and Jessica's Dreamy Reads

"Getting Played is equal parts funny, sexy, sweet and moving and is superbly narrated by the well-matched team of Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber, who deftly portray both the lighthearted, humorous banter and the more emotional dialogue and intimate moments. The story pulled me in from the start and kept me thoroughly engaged and entertained until it’s sigh-worthy, romantic happily ever after, and it is guaranteed to give the listener all the feels." –Mary Dube, Frolic Media

"Getting Played is a downright panty melting, sweep you off your feet audiobook! Throw in the dynamic narration of Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber, that just brought the storyline to a whole new level bliss!! Get ready to have your audio dreams come to life!" –Heather Pollock, Audio Reviewer

My expectations for Getting Played were astronomically high given that I absolutely adored the Getting Some series starter, Getting Schooled. But just like its predecessor, this second book was wonderful as both an audiobook (which I had the pleasure of listening to when it was released in June and perfectly narrated by the duo of Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber) and now as an eBook. Lainey and Dean went from one-time--yet unforgettable--hook-up to getting knocked up, tying them together. There were laughs and le sighs, but there were also a few tears on my end, but this has been par for the course when I read Emma Chase's books. I loved the direction that Lainey and Dean's story took and how, even with a connection as strong as they had from the beginning, these two had to develop their trust in one another and allow their relationship to evolve from lovers to friends to far more than either expected. This was, hands down, one of my favorite reads for 2019 and I've got my fingers crossed we haven't seen the last of the Getting Some series. Five-plus stars go to Getting Played. ♥

Forget Oktoberfest when you have Swoon-fest within the pages of Getting Played. Dean and Lainey have one very steamy night in the summer, something Lainey never indulges in but Dean is a pro at. Never expecting to see each other again, and with ni numbers exchanged and no last names; it is little wonder when Lainey discovers a little present leftover from their night together she resigns herself to going it alone. However, fate has other plans in store for the unexpected co-parents. I admired Lainey so much as well as being a tad envious of her incredible creativity and artistic/DIY talent. Although she has a lot of support from her (large) family, Lainey is fiercely independent not wanting to feel like a burden to anyone. Something that does hold her back on occasion. Although Lainey does seem to be very unfortunate whenever she indulges in a little adult palytime she is the one left with the aftermath. Fertility on steroids with Lainey. However, Lainey is one of those people who view life with almost unwavering optimism. Like I said I completely admired her #girlcrush Dean might just be the perfect man; drummer in a pretty good band during the summer and hot geek teacher the rest of the year #swoon Unfortunately, there has to be a drawback, and with Dean that comes in the form of his relationship adverse status and how he became a hook-up master. Sadly, Dean’s reputation as a ladies man including cheating is the stumbling block to moving into a monogamous serious relationship. I was smitten with Dean despite his infamy, the way in which he embraced his parental role and the way in which he adapted to family life added to his appeal. Although there were times when he needed to be shaken for not processing his emotions, then again he is a man and as such unequipped to understand his feelings until they metaphorically bite him 😂 The small town of Lakeside was everything you could hope for in a small town with an especially lively group of senior citizens including Dean’s grandmother – I want to be just like her when I am older. I loved how they all pulled together to help each other and provide support when required. Getting Played is a real heart warmer and perfect to combat the transition into darker nights 😍

A good honest to goodness love story. Who would think a one-night stand could lead to forever. That's what happens to Lainey and Dean. What I loved about this story was that from the minute Dean finds out he is going to be a dad he totally accepts it. There was no denial, no bull just acceptance. From the moment Lainey walked out of their one-night stand Dean felt something. Yes he was a ladies man back in the day, a total player but he never felt for anyone what he now felt for Lainey. Lainey never forgot Dean either after that one night but like Dean they never exchanged names. But when it's fate nothing will stand in the way. Although Lainey was determined to do this on her own even when she finally did meet up with Dean again, Dean wanted to be a part of it. What happens next is what great love stories are made from and Emma Chase does such an amazing job with these two characters. Dean and Lainey's one-night stand will last a lifetime.
