Inter are keen to meet Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara in the coming days as they look to resolve the standoff with their centre-forward, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The parties remain as distant as ever following a farcical second half of the 2019-20 season, which saw Icardi lose the club captaincy and then refuse to play for the Nerazzurri for over a month.

Inter want to meet Wanda in an attempt to drive the 26-year-old out of the club, highlighting the interest he is attracting from fellow Italian clubs such as Napoli.

Icardi and Wanda, meanwhile, could refuse even to hold the talks in the first place and this would push the pair of them closer to Juventus.

Gazzetta outlined how the most dangerous scenario of them all would be leaving Antonio Conte with a huge diplomatic problem to manage at the start of preseason training, if Icardi were still at the club on 8 July.

As time passes, however, it seems that eventuality is only becoming a stronger possibility.
