Donald Trump has apparently been floating the creation of an immigration “czar” position, and naturally he’s leaning toward picking the worst of the worst. Talking Points Memo reports that former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Thomas Homan is in the running for the job. Homan is currently a Fox News contributor and “told Politico that he was only giving aides advise [sic] on how to shape the position.”
Right. It’s probably no coincidence that Homan returning to the administration is suddenly a possibility after White House aide Stephen Miller’s purge of administration officials. Those two have a lot in common, like being evil motherfuckers. Homan once said he was “enjoying” his job deporting people, telling undocumented parents that they “should be uncomfortable, you should look over your shoulder, and you need to be worried.”
Homan also had it out for local elected leaders, going on Fox News to say that the Department of Justice needs "to file charges against the sanctuary cities," and “start charging some of these politicians with crimes.” Speaking of Fox News, remember when government-appointed “czars” were the subject of countless hours of outrage under the Obama administration? Now one of their contributors may be leaving to become one, because of course.
The possible creation of the post was first reported nearly two months ago, with former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in the running. They’d be terrible too. All of these people would be terrible, which makes it all the more likely this is some attempt by Miller to again undermine officials that he feels aren't being cruel enough.
