Active RFIDs Vs Passive RFIDs

Active RFIDs Vs Passive RFIDs It was probably the irritable nature of aligning readers with barcodes repeatedly, only to fail the line of sight -that made way for the rise of RFIDs. RFID tagging system functions on electromagnetic signals that make it far superior to all of its competing devices. The RFID asset tracking system in India is particularly popular because of its ability to transmit across many dense metals and liquids. This is a rare trait among many signals. Additionally RFID tracks can be identified by its reader from quite a distance, which is a huge upside for industries with high security concerns. With these benefits and many more, RFID tags are a worthy inclusion to many industries.

Now the RFID tags are broken down into two categories; each category with their unique range of features and benefits. Hence, the effective application of RFIDs in different industries is with respect to the type of RFID in question. The two common varieties are active RFIDs and passive RFIDs.

Benefits of Active RFIDs

Active RFID tags suppliers fit the active labels with their own batteries. These ever-charged batteries result in the active nature of the tags. These tags are further divided into beacons and transponders. The beacons, as their name suggests, are like active beacons continue to transmit signals every few seconds. The transponders on the other, communicate only when probed by a compatible reader. The active tags generally transmit on only two frequencies, 433MHz and 915MHz. Being self-powered with a battery, active RFID tags are very powerful. Their specialty is their significantly long range as compared to any other tagging devices. The battery also supports the label to feature a stronger processor; meaning more efficient data transmission, and a bigger memory for housing greater lengths of data and metadata. Active RFID being self-sufficient in many ways, require very minimalist readers. Hence, you can get active RFID readers at a relatively lower price.

Benefits of Passive RFIDs Passive RFIDs do not have their own batteries. Hence, for passive RFID tags, passive RFID readers in India are a must. These RFID readers, when sending the signal of enquiry, also provides the label with power that proves just enough for a one-time response. Otherwise, passive readers are classified according to their transmission frequency ranges. That can be anywhere between 125 KHz to 960MHz -low frequency to ultra-high frequency. Now the basic benefit of passive RFIDs is its low cost. As it has got no battery of its own, these labels are low cost and lightweight. These minimalistic, cost efficient RFID tags are best for large-scale lightweight industries. As the passive tags with a lifespan of over 20 years, will be an effective one time investment.
