The Baileys #4

Falling for my Brother's Best Friend

Rate this book
Let’s say you’re an independent, self-sufficient woman who runs the family company and you find yourself falling for your little brother’s best friend. Now, more than ever, you need to count all the reasons why you need to abandon falling.

Abandon Falling #1 – He’s a womanizer. Hasn’t had a serious relationship a day in his life and changes women more often than he changes his sheets.

Abandon Falling #2 – He’s never serious. He cracks one-liners, mostly at your expense.

Abandon Falling #3 – When things go wrong, he seems unfazed and always remains in control. It’s so annoying.

Abandon Falling #4 – He has tattoos. Lots of them. Everywhere. Not to mention, he owns a tattoo parlor. (Damn it! Why doesn’t that sound like a bad thing anymore?)

Abandon Falling #5 – There’s a growing list of how different you two are. You can’t get along for fifteen minutes—a lifetime together would land one of you in prison.

Keep repeating those reasons and drown yourself in work. Pretend you don’t notice his good qualities or how enticing he looks without a shirt, and do not, I repeat, do not agree to live with the man while your place is being repaired from flood damage.

Trust me, even the strongest of us can only forego temptation for so long.

This was very sweet and feel- good book. Liam was so mature, supportive and loving towards Savanah it was beautiful to watch. It was the first time I read a book with the hero years younger than the heroine, but it worked out so well here. 💕

"later that night, as I stand at her side and watch her twirling around to “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” with not a care in the world, I wish we could stay in this moment forever.

I’m going to admit that I was really looking forward to this book, this couple’s story, but I was also kind of dreading it. I know that makes me sound like a bad person, but so often when I really, really want a couple’s story to be told, I end up disappointed. However, that is NOT the case with Falling for My Brother’s Best Friend by Piper Rayne. I loved what seemed like an opposites attract story, but in reality was two people while on the outside seemed so different, on the inside were really both looking for the same thing; someone who understood them, someone who accepted their quirks, and someone who would love them fully. My heart actually broke a bit for that young boy so enamored with his best friend’s older sister who turned into a good man but felt he wasn’t quite good enough for her.

At 20, Savannah Bailey was thrust into taking over the family business when her parents were killed in a plane crash. Eleven years later, she is still trying to live up to the family name, keep the company afloat, and prove to her employees and the town that she is above reproach and worthy of the job she holds. What Savannah doesn’t realize is somewhere along the way she lost herself, and Liam Kelly intends to help her find that girl he remembers.

Seriously, I loved this book there was no doubting the attraction between Savannah and Liam and the fact they had a heavy duty make-out session after her brother’s wedding and the fact that she’s been living in his house since hers flooded is just the icing on the cake as far as Liam is concerned. Yet Savannah insists on pushing him away; she’s worried about what people will think because he is 5 years younger and a tattoo artist with a bit of a wild reputation thanks mostly to her brothers. While they both tried to date other people, that pull between them wouldn’t allow it to go further than that and honestly neither one wanted anyone else. Liam pressing Savannah to go out of her comfort zone was a big turning point in their relationship and his five week challenge was brilliant. During that time the metamorphosis of Savannah was a beautiful thing to watch and while they both made some mistakes in their fledgling relationship, they were also quick to admit they were wrong and move forward.

As usual the rest of the Bailey clan was front and center to bombard, confuse, and meddle in their lives, but with the best intentions. There was no doubt every single person in the family loved both Savannah and Liam unconditionally.

A feel good romance of a relationship years in the making, Falling for My Brother’s Best Friend was more than I could have hoped for and a perfect story for this couple.

This is actually a nice story. I had luke warm feeling toward miss Rayne book. I remember it does not really left any big impression on me.

In Falling for My Brother's Best Friend, the story is very cute. I especially love Liam determination to make Sav falling for him. And in process they both discover who they really are and face their fear in relationship.
It also have this small town romance feeling about it.

Overall i do enjoy the story very much on rainy weekend.

Falling for my Brother’s Best Friend was the fourth book in Piper Rayne’s Baileys series. Although they can technically be read as stand-alones, there was more enjoyment when read in order.

Finally the highly anticipated Liam and Savannah’s book. They’ve been dancing around each other for years with a mixture of anger and annoyance and we finally get the real story. And actually, it wasn’t with the expected back story.

Savannah was the second eldest Bailey sibling. Their parents died when she was nineteen and she immediately began running the family business as well as assisted with raising her younger siblings. She was high strung, highly organized and an over the top Type A personality. Her mind never stopped - she couldn’t afford for it to or she would never get everything done.

Liam was almost a Bailey. He was five years younger than Savannah and was her twin brothers (Rome and Denver’s) best friend. He was their third partner in crime always pulling pranks and having fun. Although now in his twenties and a business owner of a tattoo shop, Smokin’ Guns, that still hadn’t changed.

I’ve been anticipating their story from the beginning. It was the quintessential grow up with hidden crushes on each other storyline - but then it wasn’t. It was about so much more.

I loved all of the Bailey’s and eagerly await each new book. This was no exception - and they all played a central role with their continued bantering and fun. However, for the first time, I wanted to ring all of the eight siblings necks. And Grandma Dory too. No spoilers so no elaboration, but looking at the Bailey’s from Savannah’s lens opened up a new perspective. Liam said it best when describing Savannah: “She went through a hurricane in a dingy, stranded in the middle of the ocean. It changed her in ways there’s no reversing.”

In the end, I loved the storyline. And I loved what Liam accomplished. It took a bit to get set up, not because of the writing - it was well written - but it needed developing - which the authors did well. And I hated what I was seeing - again, not the writing, but the perspective needed to be laid out. And once that was done and I understood the big picture, then the story began to progress and develop. And I totally fell in love. It wasn’t an easy journey for Liam and Savannah, but it was a journey well worth it. I think I have my new favorite Bailey book!

The only down side was that it finished abruptly. I wanted more so hopefully we’ll see more in future books. Now off to more siblings! Four down, five to go!

So much love for Falling for my Brother's Best Friend by Piper Rayne.
I didn't want this book to end, loved Sav & Liam so much!

The storyline is well written, well paced and watching the relationship between Sav and Liam unfold had me turning the pages late into the night as I couldn't put it down.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts, I loved their passion and I loved their honesty. After losing her parents Savannah put her playful and carefree side away to help look after her younger siblings and now that they've all grown up she feels stuck in that mindset and doesn't think she can be that fun loving girl again.

Liam is the perfect man for Sav, he's thoughtful, sweet, adorable, sexy and adores Sav just as she is but knows she won't truly be happy until she finds the old Savannah.
So he set's out to help Sav open herself to love and allowing herself to look after herself after all these years of putting her needs and wants in the back burner.
Sigh... this man made me swoon so hard, Liam has earned a spot in my top 5 book boyfriend crush's, loved him!!

„Pass gut auf ihn auf. Er heilt Herzen, statt sie zu brechen.“
(Eine Freundin über Liam zu Savannah in Falling for my brother’s best friend)

Worum geht’s?

Falling for my brother’s best friend ist Band 4 der Baileys-Reihe.

Was dafür in diesem Buch kaum eine Rolle spielt: Buzz Wheel!

Mein Fazit

Savannah and Liam's book was a highly anticipated read for me with all the sexual tension and banter, I was definitely not disappointed!!! Savannah is one of the oldest Bailey siblings and while raising her brothers and sisters lost a piece of herself along the way. Liam has been in love with Savannah since he was a kid and is ready to help her find herself again while showing her how good they could be together. These two had me so enamoured with their story I demolished page after page because I couldn't put it down. Piper Rayne somehow brings us stories that get better and better, intrigue us, captivate us and ALWAYS have us begging for MORE!

Please don't hate me for this rating - read my review first.

Falling for My Brother's Best Friend is the fourth book in Piper Rayne's The Bailey's series, something I was not aware of when I signed up for the arc. However, when I started reading, it was very obvious that I had jumped into the middle of something and was quickly losing interest in the story.

This is to be Savannah and Liam's story. However there is a lot of backstory and secondary characters that play a huge roll in this book, so it really hurt their story being a standalone. There were too many outside factors that readers need to be aware of to make this book truly enjoyable and understandable.

Not going to lie, I felt slightly lost and confused alot while I was reading this. I could easily see that I needed to understand the dynamics between all these family members in order to understand how each played a part in the story. So in reality, this book really isn't just Savannah and Liam's story but a family who sticks close and helps one another out.

I love Piper Rayne and their books, but for this one, it definitely missed the mark for me. I think this series needs to be read in order, regardless if each book is a separate couple. There is too strong of a family dynamics happening as a secondary story that it hurts for new readers to just jump into.

For those who have already read up to this point in the series, I have no about they will love this book. But for others like me, do yourself a favor and start from the beginning.

Was passiert in diesem Buch?

REVIEW: DNF REVIEW... with a caveat.

I will preface this review with this: I didn't hate this book. There wasn't anything wrong with this book from what little I read, but this DNF review is a product of my over-eagerness to try new authors this year. This story has the kind of synopsis that made me want to pick it up and read it, even knowing it was a fourth book in a series. I LOVED the sound of it. This book was also billed as a standalone within a series, yet I do not feel that it was written that way. This is simply my perception on it. I felt like I was playing catch-up the minute I started reading the book instead of me learning about who they were and why there was some wariness about falling in love. The conversation was already ongoing, and I was in the background trying to put the pieces together, so there wasn't an initial connection or any real introduction to who the characters were or why we were supposed to love them together. I am very frustrated with myself because I know this is my fault. It's the fourth book in the series and I should have just followed my personal rule of never jumping into a story within a series, even after being told it's a standalone. Not many authors can write a standalone within a series and still give me their characters' buildup and growth moving forward - not necessarily just building from the past books. If I didn't need the background or the depth of a storyline and the characters, and I wasn't worried about a surface read, this could/would be a great book to jump into because I enjoy books about falling for a best friend's sibling. It's one of my favorite tropes because of the forbidden aspect of it. Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me in that aspect.

This book is about two people that fooled around after a wedding (previous book), and he wants her but she does not want him, and it's her brother's best friend. BONUS! I love that kind of story...but I didn't feel drawn into their plight when I first got into the book because I had nothing to hold onto. By the third chapter, we are already "making the other jealous" by hanging out with others, so it started to follow a known path that I have seen countless times. I don't like a cliche story, especially when I have already read it many times before. Give me something to make me want to keep reading their story, something unique. Here's where my problem lies: if this is supposed to be a standalone in a series, give us their buildup and give us their original hookup that shows the draw and the fire. Give us the steam and the growth of these two characters so a newbie can actually fall for the characters and their plight. I want to be drawn to them and be excited for their promised HEA. I didn't feel like I was actually introduced to them in that way. This story worked primarily off background knowledge, of which we were not privy to walking into this story.

The characters were already built. The background was already laid. The story was already set. As they should be with an established series, right?? Right. I know this. I accept this. I understand this. But it felt like I was literally walking into an on-going scene and I had to figure out what was going on. This is not the way to start a standalone in a series, especially when they gave me background info on other characters in stories prior to this. I don't want those details in this story if you're stating this is a standalone. Make the discussion about this story, but don't give me background on other characters in previous books when it doesn't enhance the current story I'm reading. Again, my fault for jumping into this book being billed as a standalone. I get it. I do. I really, really do.

The meaning of a standalone, to me, is the importance and relevance of the love story at hand. It is the build up of the characters, and the growth of their relationship at the forefront, not the background. We may have met them previously, but the actual steam and the reason for their relationship is written in the current book and I think I missed out on that somehow with this one.

I'm so frustrated, and it's all my fault and I should have known this. I honestly take the blame for this, so this isn't a "mad" review. This isn't me being angry about the story or the writing. It's just me waving the proverbial white flag, knowing I shouldn't have jumped in. I'm not saying this is a bad book or that it's not one I can eventually finish, but I will say the way I entered the storyline was definitely on the wrong foot. So, I'm honestly hoping I can put this book on the back burner and come back to it eventually - after reading the first three books, so I have some background to work with and some character development to anchor their story.

So, my biggest gripe is I'm mad at myself for jumping into an ongoing series, even claiming it's a standalone, and not being able to 'feel' the story as it was intended. Lesson learned, and I know this is ultimately my fault.

I swear I felt like I was back on the playground with these two (something that was mentioned a time or two by others in the story). They gave me all kinds of emotional whiplash. All. Kinds. But even when they had me wanting to reach out and Gibbs smack some sense into them, I couldn’t keep from turning the pages to see what would happen next.

Liam and Savannah. These two...They are both really good, hard working people with big hearts and crazily enough, beneath the surface, they have very similar issues ~ they just deal with them in different ways. Which, of course, made for an interesting journey to their HEA. The chemistry between them was undeniable, everytime they were near each other the sparks flew - no matter the emotional tone of those sparks - and I have to say they did drive me a bit batshit crazy, but I couldn’t help but root for them to figure their issues out and truly accept what everyone else knew...that they were perfect for each other.

While this isn’t my first rodeo with Piper Rayne, this is my first dose of the Bailey’s and I had a blast being around this huge, extremely nosey, but extremely lovable family. Grandma Dori, of course, stole the show, but I really liked hanging out with all of them and seeing how unique they all were and I’m definitely going to be looking to not only catch up with the ones that have already found their HEA’s but be on the lookout for the next Bailey to fall!

Those who have been following my reviews probably know I have issues... with this series. And Falling for my Brother's Best Friend wasn't an exception.
I probably raised my expectations too high for this book and since I hadn't based them on my experience with previous books, I felt stupid after a few chapters in. It was so, so b-o-o-o-ring.
My theory is, that Piper Rayne wanted to write a series about a huge family of very interesting, funny and energetic people without stopping to think what they would actually have to write about them. So they chose the most widely used clichés and stuffed their stories with many filler chapters in hopes everyone would be satisfied with them.
In all honesty, were these books much shorter, I could see myself liking them instantly.

So brother’s best friend trope is not one of my favorites but if Piper Rayne writes it then I read it!

I’ve been anticipating this book since the very beginning (honestly, I thought they’d keep us in suspense a little longer.. maybe until book six or something but so glad they didn’t!)

Liam and Savannah are HOT HOT HOT!
I love them!

Review

Hands down my favorite story in the series, but my goodness, it felt like my heart was constantly beating out of its chest. I was a ball of anxiety just wondering what was going to happen between Liam and Savannah.

Brother's best friend, enemies to lovers (of sorts) and a bit of a slow burn...in the best way possible! Savannah and Liam couldn't be more different and with a 5 year age difference. Yes, everyone, we have a small age-gap. In Falling for My Brother's Best Friend , these too definitely have the whole opposites attract.

It's pretty evident from the very beginning that we knew where Liam's heart lies when it comes to Sav. And with her, I'm pretty sure it's there for her as well, but it took her a lot longer to work the truth out of her. The one that can hold her own ,keeps everyone and everything afloat, she's the fixer and the one that everyone relies on. So much time has gone and she completely lost her true self in the mix.

Liam will be on everyone's top book boyfriend list! There were times where his age definitely showed, but just the way he goes around to show how much he truly cares about Sav is literally one of the best things ever. Liam turned out to be a genuinely sweet guy that's completely down to earth. Piper Rayne have been teasing the crap out of these two and their story did not disappoint.

The madness of the Bailey family is present as always and of course, the meddler that is Grandma Dori.

Liam and Savannah's story was well worth the wait and I am so eager to continue reading about the rest of this crazy family!

Review by Jen Skewes

I love this series and I think this one may just be my new favorite. Well maybe it's Liam who is my new fave. Either way this book was fantastic and once again the talented writing duo had me hooked from the very first page.

If you have been reading this series, you have seen bits and pieces of Savannah and Liam. you know that old saying opposites attract, well this would be Liam and savannah to a tee. From the very first page you can feel the sexual tension between the two of them. But Saw and Liam together just feels like on big chaotic ad toxic mess. And at times that is exactly what it was like when the two of them were together. But if it wasn't for Liam ignoring the words of everyone around him, things between them never would have changed.

Liam has know Sav since he was child, being he is best friends with her brothers. He has had a crush on her since he was 14 years old. As he got older that crush has turned into so much more. Sav is currently running the family business and since her parents' death she has become someone that Liam does not recognize. Liam sees her and he may just be the only one. He sees the pressure she puts on herself, how she is always looking our for others, but he also sees that the Sav he's has known his whole life may be gone, but he knows that she is still in there somewhere.

Liam does not deny how much he wants Sav, but he knows that she needs to work on herself first before they can be together. He is gong to help her and guide her in this new journey to finding herself, it was actually his idea. She thinks he's crazy and has too much on her plate for this but she agrees to his plan. He is not about to give up on her and soon she will be his. Right?

Liam is adorable, sexy, kind sweet and completely swoon worthy. I loved how much he cared for Sav and how much he saw her, like really saw her. He's not the guy that some think he is, especially Sav's eww of him. It is so far from who he really is. I loved watching the two of them fall for each other, even if they may had unknowingly been there already. Watching the two of them slowly opening up to each other, sharing things with each other was just so amazing to watch. I honestly had a hard time liking Sav in the beginning, because yes she seemed like woman he felt she was too good for anyone, and was the only person with so much on her plate. But as she slowly opens up and finds her true self, you see so much more of her and you understand her in a way that you didn't in the beginning.

This book was everything that I love in this series. You feel like you are a part of this close-knit, fun family. the banter between all of them is what makes you smile. The writing is perfect, the characters are all lovable in their own way. I devoured this book in one sitting, because once you immerse ourself back into their lives, you do not want to let go. Another amazing job by this fantastic duo. Looking forward to the next one.

Always Good Enough

The most responsible Bailey is about to let loose! She’s going to be forced to realize that there is more to life than pleasing everyone else. The line between love and hate has never been more blurry! Things are going to get HOT!

When her parents died she was nineteen, and the family business became her responsibility. Her life completely changed and the carefree and fun Savannah disappeared. With constant family responsibility weighing her down, she forgot what it was like to smile and just be happy.

Liam has wanted Savannah since we was fourteen years old. She was five years older and his best friend’s older sister. Just a few complications, but he’s not deterred. She’s completely consumed by her job and taking care of her siblings, but Liam remembers how she used to be. He’s determined to help Savannah remember what it’s like to live for herself and take what she wants. He’s got just the plan to show her that girl is still inside the woman before him.

I waited patiently for Savannah’s story and it was worth it! She was not who she wanted to be, but became who she had to be to take care of her family. She just needed to be reminded that she deserved to be happy too! Liam was absolutely perfect. That man was beyond sexy and thoughtfully romantic. He did not hide his attraction. For him it was more than physical. He just needed to convince her that they were perfect together.

Their attraction was undeniable. Savannah resisted for so long. Reaching her breaking point was the beginning of her HEA. Giving in to the tattooed hottie was the best decision she’s ever made. No one deserved to find love and happiness more. The Bailey clan continues to keep me coming back for more!

5 Star Review Falling For My Brother’s Best Friend (The Baileys #4) by Piper Rayne

I fell for Liam the first time he was introduced in the series and all Falling For My Brother’s Best Friend did was encourage me to fall harder. A friends to lovers story that is full of love and family which ticked all the boxes for me.  I was riveted from the first page to the last and was disappointed when I finished it.

Underneath her tough as nails surface Savannah (Sav) Bailey is like most other women, looking for love. Having helped her brother Austin raise their siblings, Savannah has little time to escape her responsibilities and Liam decides it is up to him to help her re discover herself.

Can Liam convince Savannah that what they shared would be worth crossing the line from friends to lovers? Or are they destined to remain apart?

I have fallen more and more for the Bailey’s and their circle of friends, in fact there is not a Bailey that I don’t love. They are such a great family and their friends and extended family are just as awesome.

I adore small town romances and often find myself wishing that I could be a part of the Lake Starlight community. Of course living in such a small community, your privacy goes out the window, with everyone having an opinion.

You know when you pick up a Piper Rayne book that there is going to be plenty of humour, that’s a given, but this book had so much that at times I wanted to cry.

I also love how “all in” the Bailey Clan are with the people they care about and I have to say that Grandma Dori nearly stole the book at times.

I have always been in two minds about Savannah. She comes across as a bit of a judgy know it all ball buster but at the same time I get it. She had so much stress and responsibility thrown at her at such a young age it kind of put a stick up well you know where.

And obviously I have always loved Liam. I mean what's not to love in a reformed playboy, town bad boy with a heart of gold? And having seen him always there for the Bailey trouble makers just added to his appeal.

But I didn't see how Piper Rayne were going to ever get them on the same page. Especially after watching them fight like cat and dog all this time.

Obviously I should have had more faith because not only did those ladies provide me with a great romance they also made me love Savannah. And maybe shed a few tears for everything these two went through to get to the end of the story.

Although thankfully it's just the start of a new chapter in the Bailey family saga and we are already all cued up for the next installment and I really am dying to see Denver grow up and put someone before himself. And find out who the owner of a certain handbag is. Can't wait!!!

And complete side note but damn, how hot are those cover models!?! Awesome casting job ladies.

Falling For My Brother's Best Friend is book four in The Bailey's series. It can be read as a standalone. Each book focuses on a different Bailey sibling. This one is Savannah and Liam's story. I am so loving the Bailey siblings and I was so wanting Savannah's story. If you have been waiting for Savannah and Liam's like I have, don't worry it was so worth the wait and does not disappoint. Savannah took up a huge role in the family after her parents passed and runs the family business. She strong and has a big heart. She's hasn't spent much time on herself but it's time for her to find herself again. Liam is her brother's best friend. He's also like an honorary Bailey. I loved Liam. The connection between Liam and Savannah is strong but the both try to fight it. I loved Liam. I was so rooting for him to win over Savannah and not mess it up. I had my doubts that their story would live up to the hype I created in my mind but no worries their story is just prefect.

I know I’m repeating myself here, but this author duo just fucking makes me happy . I read this book this past Sunday and I was not feeling well, and it was the only thing that put a smile on my face!!

This entire family is just everyday chaotic reality with a huge heart and a whole lot of fun! For me, they’re quick reads because they are just so damn entertaining, I can’t wait to get to the next plot point LOL Savannah and Liam proved to be just as much fun and their predecessors!

If you’ve read this series from the beginning then you’ve gotten a few bits and pieces of Liam and Savannah and in those tine glimpses, they don’t seem to mesh too well but oh my the under current of tension rang loud and clear. And not the bad kind LOL You know what they say about that line between love and hate ….. ;)

I love this family and I love this writing duo! This book can certainly be read on its own, but I suggest you start from the beginning because family is very important to the Baileys and you don’t want to miss a single thing about any of them!

Shy ~

I dont know what I loved more about this book.

Liam and his patience. His vulnerability while also being so strong and confident. And the way he saw Savannah for who she really was.

Or Savannah for what a wonderful, loving sister she is, even if she doesn't always show it in the most obvious ways.

In all honesty I think I'm in love with this town and this family and all of the people in it so I can't pick a thing to love more.

The writing was amazing again. There was so much emotion and just all the feels. And these endings... They keep giving me just enough to crave the next book asap.
