It has been a busy day for the MRP, with two Hawks offered fines, one cleared, and one referred directly to the tribunal following incidents that occurred during Hawthorn’s Round 5 loss to North Melbourne.

Tom Mitchell can accept $1000 fine with an early plea, after being charged with misconduct against North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein during the second quarter of Sunday’s clash.

He will be free to face the Saints this weekend and will remain in the race for the Brownlow Medal should he accept.

Youngster James Cousins can also accept a $1000 fine for making careless conduct with umpire Jeff Dalgliesh during the second quarter.

Ryan Burton came under scrutiny for a clash with Shaun Higgins that left the Roo concussed and unable to play out the match. Though the fallout of the bump was serious, the MRP stated it was executed with no contact to the body and could not have reasonably foreseen a clash of heads between the players. No further action was taken.

Meanwhile, James Sicily has been charged with serious misconduct against Shaun Atley during the second quarter of Sunday’s game. As the offence was unable to be classified, Sicily has been referred directly to the tribunal and is unable to accept an early plea.
