First of all kudos to the author for actually having a curvy woman on her cover! So many times the h is described as curvy but the cover never reflects it!👏👏👏
It's been a very long while since I've been in the world or the Dares but when I saw this one I decided on a visit.
This is Jason Dare's story, with his father's history of infidelity that had so many long reaching consequences and the death of his college friend, Jason Dare doesn't do emotional entanglements. He keeps his circle small and himself busy. As he seems to expand his nightclub he really doesn't have time for a woman....until a flat tire drops some sweetness into his life
The h's ( I confess to having already forgotten her name 🙁) mom died and left some money for her, with her brother a mess because of his drug use she upholds her mother's wishes and doesn't give him any money. He attacks her one night which led to her fleeing and changing her last name. She starts up her candy shop and one night when her van's tires are slashed she meets sexy club owner Jason Dare. When he asks her out to dinner she refused never expecting that her past would turn the sexy Playboy into a firce protector

Ok this was just ok, I think my reading tastes have changed so much that I no longer get excited over stories like this.....it actually felt a bit predictable but still ok for what it was
The H does a bit of pushing away because of his ssies but he eventually gets his shit together
The h's brother finds and attacks her but that is wrapped up pretty quickly
All in all this was a quick visit with a family I once loved but one I may have to leave in the past
H used to only have ONS and short term relationships..... it's been a few months since he last h5ad sex
h isn't a virgin but not much detail to her past
Secondary character's cheating husband wants her back but she shut that down
H's ex who once wanted him back makes an appearance but she accepted that he was with the h

Throughout the Dare series by Carly Phillips, Jason Dare has been a bit of an enigma; he was around by mysterious, he owns a nightclub that keeps him busy, he’s there if his family needs him, but he keeps his distance. There was no doubt all of the Dare siblings (full and half) were a bit messed up about their father’s double life, coupled with a college incident that cost him one of his best friends, Jason refuses to get emotionally attached to anyone else, but when he helps Faith Lancaster fix a flat tire and he realizes she might be in danger, he vows to make sure she is safe before he walks away.
I enjoyed the way Ms. Phillips wove Jason and Faith’s past into this story giving readers a good idea of where they were coming from and how it affected what they wanted in the future. There was really no drama between them, Jason was upfront that he wasn’t looking for a wife and family and Faith was adamant that after her business was flourishing that was exactly what she wanted.
Throwing Jason’s mother and father into the book just proved how much their screwed up relationship made Jason question relationships in general was pretty brilliant, but it also gave Faith insight into him as well.
It was interesting seeing Jason’s layers peeled back and the fact that after such a short time he felt he could open up to Faith so that she would understand him better. However, he contradicted himself because it was easy to see early on that Faith stirred protective feelings in him he swore he didn’t want or need. I liked that they moved from friends to lovers on her timetable that she knew she wanted Jason if only for a short time.
I’m thrilled we got to know Jason better and I’m looking forward to seeing what Ms. Phillips has in store for his two very stubborn, bachelor business partners.
Filled with emotion and sexy times, but balanced with some humor and fun, I loved Sexy Dare.

This was my first time reading a book from Carly Phillips and I enjoyed it. As soon as I saw that this was featuring a curvy heroine, I knew I had to read it. To make it even better she owned a candy shop. All I need in a book, friends.
I really liked Faith as the main character. She wasn’t going to let her brother take over her life. She packed up and moved to NYC and opened a business she always wanted. Was she still scared? Yes. But she didn’t let that hold her back.
Jason was okay. I get that he a terrible upbringing and outlook on relationships but, he couldn’t figure out what he wanted with Faith towards the end of the book. I’m glad he got his head out of his butt but it took a bit too long for my liking.
I think this book’s downfall was the fact that it wasn’t told in first person POV. Especially since it changed from Jason to Faith quite often, dual first person POV would have been so much for me. I felt like I couldn't fully connect to their feelings or immerse myself in the story.
While I didn’t love this, I am still open to reading the next in the series. I can’t wait to see Tanner knocked down on his knees over a woman.

ooo, I LOVE sexy bodyguard books, and this one is DELISH... Curvy Faith is a candy store owner in trouble, and HOT, protective alpha Jason is just the man for the job! He goes from playboy to protector, moving Faith into his apartment and keeping his eyes on her... RAWR!
I just loved this book from Carly Phillips--it's sexy, hot roommates to lovers, bodyguard romance that hits all the right notes. A great way to heat up a chilly fall night! FIVE STARS!!!

I totally devoured this baby.
I couldn’t (*cough* wouldn’t) put it down.
Jason and Faith were all kinds of fun, sweet, swoon worthy and smexy and I NEEDED to see them get their HEA (Yes, I know the book wasn’t going anywhere, but once I’m in. I’m ALL. IN.) and was quite happy with how things worked out!
I adored Jason and Faith, Faith a tinsy bit more, but the difference is minor in the big scheme of things. Faith is strong, determined and simply a sweetheart. She doesn’t back down easily and yet she isn’t one to turn down help just to soothe her pride. Jason is complex. He loves hard and will do anything for those he calls his own, but works very hard at keeping everyone at arm’s length to protect his bruised heart.
Faith and Jase’s journey to their HEA was a lot of fun, regardless of all that was going on around them. The chemistry between them was there from the start and only grew the more they were around each other. I loved their bantering, the smexy was HAWT and I really enjoyed how they opened up to each other about their pasts, wants and needs. There were a few bumps in the road for them, but I liked how they were handled and how everything worked out in the end.
Sexy Dare was a fun read, even as it touched on some pretty heavy topics ~ which were all handled very well. The writing was engaging, the pacing was good and I loved the dual first person POV’s. I also loved seeing the various Dare family members pop in and out of the story as well as an interesting little nugget that was dropped on an ongoing secondary story. But I cannot wait for the next two books in this series. Landon and Tanner definitely have my attention and I’m totally looking forward to watching these two fall!

What a delicious treat. I think it took me less than a second to decide to read this book.
Curvy damsel in distress? Colour me interested. She owns a candy store, too. Bonus! 😀 Is that a nightclub owner with handy contacts and a protective streak as big as his... charm? Oh, yeah.
The agile and cozy writing style just fed me this hot and catchy romance with no effort. Faith is building her life with sheer will and yummy sweets, but she has a dark shadow putting her in danger. In comes this gorgeous and thoughtful knight in shining armor to rescue her, protect her and tempt her body and heart beyond resistance.
I loved the slow-burn yet sizzling passion, the scars that life has left on Jason's heart and made him wary, his commitment to see Faith safe, and all his extended family of siblings and friends with their respective families. Very warming.
There are entertaining scenes at the club and her candy store, with his family which makes him realize his fears and flaws. Can we reject exactly what we need? I think so, and that's what Jason does despite his growing feelings towards this courageous and patient woman.
A happy ending is guaranteed, though.
All ends well despite the evil after Faith and her man's slow acceptance of his own right to love. Lovely and sensual romance. I'm sure I will continue the series with the other two owners of Club TEN29.

This was a wonderful, swoon worthy romance. This is Jason and Faith's story and in no time flat, I was fully engaged and actively rooting for this couple. I fell totally in love with these characters. I loved how curvy girl Faith might have needed help but she was no fainting damsel just standing around hoping for a knight to save her. She was strong, determined, smart, talented and simply just a real sweetheart. Although I adored Jason (because: hot, protective hero alert), I did think that he was harder to connect with. His painful history, fears and self-doubt made him create and maintain very well fortified walls to protect himself. I honestly found it quite heartbreaking that a man that loved so hard and well felt such a desperate need to protect his heart. An excellent read and a enticing start to this new series. I can't wait for more. I am electing to post a candid review.

Sexy Dare by Carly Phillips is book One in the The Sexy Series. This is the story of Faith Lancaster and Jason Dare. Faith is running from her past that can harm her if she doesn't keep a head of it. Jason is a playboy that enjoyed his lifestyle but then he meets Faith. Jason knows there is something about her and when he comes to understand the danger she is in he goes into protective mode.
I really enjoyed their steamy story and hope to read more from Ms. Phillips in the future!

MY MUSINGS:
Wowza! SEXY DARE was all kinds of scrumptious! I gobbled up this sexy as sin bodyguard romance and am still riding a candy laden induced high! I was entertained and engaged from page one and binge read this book in one sitting!
As with all her books, there’s plenty of wit, charm, flirty banter, juicy family drama, romantic buildup and sexual tension to keep me riveted! Ms. Phillips also does a stellar job of weaving in an undercurrent of heart palpitating suspense to this swoon-worthy romance plot, and the end result stole my breath! And omg the chemistry between these two was so scorching hot I needed a fire extinguisher!
Gah! Jason was the ultimate book boyfriend! Strong, commanding, deliciously alpha and ferociously protective. And there’s nothing more tantalizing to me than a gruff, growly, confirmed bachelor who is eventually transformed by love. But sigh…it does not come easy. For he is quite the tortured soul and guards his damaged heart with a ferocity that made my chest ache! This moody broody dark knight definitely has a lot of demons to slay before he can feel worthy of an amazing woman like Faith. But over time they both open up about their pasts and as he offers her shelter from the storm, she gently heals Jason’s wounds and motivates him to find the courage to overcome his fears and self-doubts.
As for Faith, I absolutely adored her! She was sweet and endearing, smart and savvy, feisty and fierce and I love that she was a curvy girl who owned her own candy shop! But her life is far from perfect either—peril dogs her every step, and I like how she learns to lean on the strong, stoic man who is dead set on keeping her safe at all costs!
While on the surface Jason and Faith are like night and day, there was never a doubt in my mind that they are meant to be and I yearned for them to find soul deep healing and forever love in each other’s arms! And sure, there was pain and heartache but the overall tone was sexy and upbeat, with a nice undercurrent of bittersweet emotion.
Ultimately, this was a fun, uplifting, beautifully paced and highly sensual read laced with heart and hope, warmth and poignancy and it goes without saying that the interactions with the Dare family were a huge highlight. And as is her MO, Ms. Roberts penned a heart-tugging HEA that left me GUSHING like a giddy schoolgirl!
BOTTOM LINE:
SEXY DARE proved to be a spectacular start to The Sexy Series and there are some intertwining subplots in this first installment that set the stage for future books! Can’t wait for the next one!

Sexy Dare is the first book in The Sexy Series by Carly Phillips. The book features one of the last if not the last Dare sibling who was still single. The Dares are quite popular and I believe one of the most talked series of CP, so this book is a little treat to all those fans. Jason's family history is quite known if you have read one of the books and if you haven't it's explained inside the story, which is why I won't do it in this review.
I liked the book a lot. I had a good time reading it and Faith was my most favorite character. She is a strong woman who chased her dreams despite the fact that her drug addict brother made her life worse. She is a great heroine. Jason is a little too pushy, but he made things work for me, so I can't say that I didn't like him. He and Faith made a good couple and it was quite enjoyable reading their story.
In terms of writing, the book has the same elements as most of Carly Philips' books do. I don't mean that they are the same though. What I mean is that she knows how to write a book that I will like and how to make everything feel natural and good. Each story is unique and familiar at the same time.

With a family history of lies and deception, Jason Dare has closed himself off from love and concentrated on taking his night club to the next level. That is until he sees a damsel in distress on the side of the road. Who knew stopping to fix a flat tire would set his world spinning. But can a billionaire night club owner really fall in love with a curvy candy shop owner? Or will baggage from Faith's past end the relationship before it can turn into so much more? I absolutely loved theses characters. Both broken and both thinking love was not for them come together so seamlessly that the reader cannot help but fall in love too. Once again Carly Phillips starts off a series with a bang!

They had such fantastic chemistry you could feel the heat flying off the pages. And the fact that our heroine is curvy made this book PERFECT for me. I don't get enough romances with curvy heroines as I like so when I do find one, I snatch them up quickly. And knowing I get a curvy heroine from one of my favorite authors? PERFECTION!

Loving this series of the Dare Family !

With every new book from Carly writes I know I’ll get a sexy alpha male. And with each new listen of her books I get used to her writing style and single narrator. But I can’t get enough of her books and have reading for years.
I love a good audiobook with a great story and this was such a great listen. Angela Dawe voiced Carly’s story greatly and I loved everything about this book.
Carly’s heros are all alpha and I fell so hard for Jason Dare. Faith was the woman to help Jason heal his heart. There was off the charts chemistry, a little angsty drama and swoony romance.
I’m a sucker for this Dare family and I can’t get enough of all of them. But I am looking forward to Jason’s friends and partners and the secrets of the past.

A sexy start to a new series

I do so love Carly Phillips. She writes just what I want and need - sexy, alpha men who are often a little damaged and capable women who are both sweet, smart and kick-ass. And the best part? Our heroes often get put through the wringer on their journey to a happily-ever-after. And what a ride it is.
This book is the start to a new series - The Sexy Series. We start off with the story of Jason Dare (one of the many Dare siblings from Ms Phillips’ Dare family from her Dare to Love, NY Dares and Knight Brothers series’). There are a few cameos from other siblings and spouses from those series’ (as well as the information about Jason’s parents’ marriage) - but this book stands completely alone so if you’re new to Carly Phillips or the Dare’s - you’re still good to read and enjoy this book.
And enjoy it you will. Carly Phillips has a way of writing likeable, relatable characters and Jason and Faith tick those boxes. I’m almost reluctant to mention it for fear of making a big deal of it - but I love the way that Faith is described as curvy (both in description and in admiration) but other than that it’s not mentioned. It’s not a big deal to anyone in the book. Faith isn’t self-conscious about herself or her figure - as seems to be the norm in books with curvy heroines. It’s just her. Like she has blond hair instead of brown etc. Not a big deal. And all you need to do is look at that cover to see that our couple are hawt!
The pace of the story is quick and engaging. The story is a little over 200 pages and you’ll just whizz through it. In what I’m coming to think of as a staple for Ms Phillips, she manages to have our characters, Jason especially, fall in love almost in the background so we realise he’s fallen in love at the same time as he does. We wonder how it happened so quickly but can look back and easily see how it’s all progressed. It’s such a warm, heartwarming quality in a romance and I just love how it's done in this book especially.
And of course, in a book that’s part of The Sexy Series - and just being one of Ms Phillips’ books - of course we’re going to get all the good stuff packed in here. It fair sizzles. The part where he drags her to his office while at the club. Oh boy that was some good stuff right there!!
The next book (Sexy Hers) is about Tanner - one of Jason’s partners in the club that they own together with their friend, Landon (presumably book 3, Sexy Mine). He’s another one that thinks he’s impervious to love. And he’s a bad boy who I predict might just fall hard for that good girl prosecutor! I feel evilly giddy about grabbing that one up when it comes out.
If you like short, snappy stories with heat and heart - and oh boy, that heat! - then this I would definitely recommend this story to you. It’s fun and enjoyable and full of the witty dialogue and seamless writing that Carly Phillips is known for. 5 stars from me.

Sexy Dare is the first book in Carly’s newest Sexy Series. This first book, I guess, you could consider to be a spin-off or a companion novel to her Dare Series. This one is Jason Dare’s story, but you don’t have to read any other book to fully enjoy this book. As with any Carly Phillip books, she does an amazing job filling in the missing pieces if you choose to read her books out of order. As you meet each of her new characters, she seamlessly blends them into the world you might have missed.
As I have said this book is a standalone novel built into her Dare world. This is told in third person POV, but we get the thoughts of both Jason and Faith. I thought the pace and flow of the story was great. I loved that she added a bit of suspense into this story. I will say I thought the ending was a bit rushed but after reading the epilogue, I was ok with how it all ended.
In this book we follow Jason Dare and Faith Lancaster. Jason is one of the New York Dares. He has some serious trust issues steaming from his father and he also had a tragic loss in his life, so he doesn’t let anyone close to his heart. So when he comes upon Faith on the side of the road with a flat tire and decides to help, he doesn’t know how much that interaction will change his life. Faith Lancaster is a single woman trying to make something of her candy business. Running from a past she is hoping won’t catch up to her, she has lead a lonely life. So when a dark knight stops and help her on the side of the road, she is hesitant to let him in. Little did she know that Jason Dare always gets what he wants ;) I loved watching these two characters grow throughout the story. Especially Jason, he had so many walls up, it was great to see those come down over time. I really liked these two together. I loved the added suspense Carly wrote into the book, it had me turning the pages as fast as I could just to see what happens.
I enjoyed seeing other Dare family members in this book. I always like getting back in with past characters, to see where their stories have come. I also loved getting to meet Landon and Tanner. I look forward to their stories in the future.
I would recommend this book/series to all romance readers out there. If you haven’t read a Carly Phillips book, you are really missing out. You need to experience her writing!!!

When billionaire Jason Dare sees a stranded van on the side of the road, he can't help but stop to offer his assistance. Thank God he did stop, because the driver of the van is the woman who will make his heart feel again - IF HE LETS HER IN!
Nothing gets to me more than a damaged alpha being brought to his knees by love, and damn is that trope done well here in Sexy Dare!! Jason is deliciously broody and tortured, and Faith, tough, strong as nails Faith, is the perfect woman to bring him to his knees. I'm just glad Carly didn't give me an overload of angst while Jason was taking his head out of his ass and figuring out that he was in love for the first time, and that he really deserved that love that Faith offered him. If all of The Sexy series is going to be this yummy, then I am so there!

This was such a fun fast read for me! I LOVE this author and her Knight Brother's books are a favorite so I was super excited to get my hands on the other side of the family and get Jason Dare's story! I loved these characters and this story line! I am always dying to get my hands on any protector turned lover romance and this one did not disappoint! Faith was such a strong amazing character and my heart broke for everything that she was going through. Jason had his own demons haunting him and was convinced that love was never in the cards. When Jason found Faith with the flat tire little did the two realize but their lives were about to be turned upside down! The chemistry between them was instant and the protectiveness Jason felt was a surprise for sure. With both having other things in their lives to focus on romance was not a priority and their connection was a shock to the both of them.
Full of drama, suspense and a roller coaster ride of emotions you will want to one click this book ASAP!

This was my first Dare family book and it definitely won't be my last! Jason was haunted by his past and thought he couldn't open his heart to anyone else but his family. Faith was running from her past only to feel lonely but afraid to have anyone in her complicated life. Jason and Faith were sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy and a story that had me from the very beginning. If you love the Dare family, then this is one Dare you'll definitely want to cuddle up with!

I found this gem of a book through Audible, and I am a new fan of Carly Philips.
This is a fast paced romance, with the female character named Faith owns a candy shop. She is an independent and strong young lady. The male character, Jason is a very handsome and successful man. They meet and due to a series of unfortunate events in Faith’s life, she now has a gorgeous Jason watching out for her. I really cannot give more details about this book since it’s a fast paced romance and it’s a well written story. The female narrator was a 3 and a half stars ⭐️ and so was the heat level.
Overall, I really enjoyed listening to this book and look forward to listening to more from this author.

This was a free read that I picked up a while ago and am glad I finally had a chance to get to.
Jason and Faith had a instant attraction and it was entertaining to see them fight/ then explore the opportunity.
This is a storyline that makes you suspend believe a little bit, in terms of it had me thinking “who really does that?” But, it works for these two. There is a decent amount of emotional growth along with world building around Jason’s club. I was impressed with the balance of the various pieces of the story given how fast paced the story was.
