They say everyone has either an addiction, obsession, or weakness in this world. Something that can penetrate you down to the core and influence you in a way nothing else can.
I have all three.
One happens to be her.

Kit Bishop is in my veins.
But unfortunately for me, she's the drug I'll never be able to indulge in and the high I can't chase.

Because I'm a liar.
A thief.
And I've destroyed everything that's ever been mine.

what in the ever loving fuck is this book🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Caught my girlfriend cheating on me—check.
With. A. Chick—okay, maybe that one's not so bad. Hell, it's kind of hot.
Except for the fact that my cheating girlfriend is apparently engaged to said chick—check.
My cheating, lesbian girlfriend then decides to drop an atomic bomb and informs me she's pregnant—check.
My cheating, lesbian, pregnant girlfriend then tells me it's mine—check.
I quickly come to the horrific realization that my cheating, lesbian, pregnant girlfriend is right, because she's...wait for it...cheating on me with a chick.

↳ And then he decides to fall in love with his cheating, lesbian, pregnant girlfriend's ex fiance WHO IS BTW ALSO A LESBIAN.

Amazing premise, terrible writing, even worse execution. 🢀 Those are my unoriginal thoughts for you.

I can't write a real review because my inability to convey how amazingly stupid this was would be a disservice to everyone. I will however notch my rating up to a 1.5 cause anything this dumb needs to be appreciated.

honestly what the hell even was this book

hero gets cheated on by his girlfriend. the now ex-girlfriend cheated on him with the heroine, who is a lesbian, and had no idea she was the ‘other woman’. girlfriend now claims she’s pregnant with the hero’s baby. hero starts falling for the heroine, who again, is a lesbian, but she is still in love with the ex. it was an absolute mess and i didn’t like a single character in this book.

Different and unpredictable!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📔
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: ☺️🥸😎😘🤨

The heroine: Kit Bishop - a lesbian who falls in love over and over and keeps getting hurt. She wears her heart on her sleeve and just wants to be loved. She is devastated when she finds out that her fiancé Becca has cheated on her with a man.

The Hero(es): Preston Holden - the son of an NFL player that now owns a team. Preston is attending Yale and has a gambling problem when he finds out that his girlfriend cheated on him with a woman and is now pregnant with his child.

The story: Preston meets Kit on a bridge in the middle of nowhere one night after both of their worlds are thrown into chaos by the same girl. They get to talking and reveal some things about themselves to each other that neither of them usually talks about. They end up becoming friends of a sort despite how they first met. Neither of them can forget about the other.

This is a very different book than I have ever read before and not only because Kit is a Lesbian. And she is a Lesbian, not bisexual. Both Preston and Kit have some kind of connection with each other and it isn’t just the fact that they were both with Becca. They have the ability to hurt each other.

I am not sure I would even call this a romance, though there is some yearning and pining going on. I like the connection between these two, but they both have a ton of baggage and it keeps piling on so much that they end up doing stupid things. Every time I think I know where this story is starting to head, it veers off somewhere totally different.

I know I want this to be a romance and a love story between these two, but I have no idea how it will go. It does get somewhat steamy in parts, but not always how some romance readers would like, but I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to find out what happens next.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

There aren’t enough words to describe how beautiful Complicated Parts is and this is only the first half. I cried, I laughed, I had to pick my heart up off the floor. Ashley’s words slay me. She never fails to write characters that are unapologetically real and don’t always have their shit together. Preston and Kit are no different. I first fell in love with these characters in the Complicated Hearts duet (buy it, read it, love it) and patiently waited for Ashley to bring their story to life. And OHMYGOD did she blow my mind with their chemistry and banter and their damaged souls that makes you addicted to want to see them through to the very end no matter how messy it gets. Complicated Parts is in no way your typical romance but it is the romance that you need in your life. Not everything is black and white. There’s a ton of gray areas. Ashley has the ability to show you the heartbreaking beauty in those areas. This is only the beginning and I can’t wait to see how it will end.

She has done it again!! Angst, nail-biting suspense, lovable and flawed characters, I. Am. Addicted!

When it comes to a unique story that is unconventional and jaw dropping, Ashley Jade knows what she is doing every single time. Her books captivate me and leave me reeling.

Kit and Preston's story was crazy and definitely complicated. I expected it though, because it wouldn't be Ashley Jade if it wasn't.

I've been waiting for this book for a while, and I have to say I am just in love and in awe of Ashley's talent. I don't think I've ever said the words, *YOU GOTTA BE F**KING KIDDING ME*, so much while reading a book.

Preston was a complete a-hole, but I loved him. He pissed me off so much, but after tossing my kindle away I would grab it and flip the page for more.

Ashley Jade not only wrote and awesome story, she wrote a story that has become her best book yet, and that is saying something.

Her characters are unique and flawed, her story lines are refreshing, and she knows how to hook her readers and keep us coming back for more.

Preston and Kit's story isn't over, and I am excited for book 2. I need it NOW.

Ashley Jade has once again smashed my heart into a zillion pieces.

Complicated Parts is a beauitful slow burn romance that goes straight for the feels and leaves you breathless.

I always loved Kit's character, she is an awesome friend to Breslin and I was overjoyed to learn that she would be getting her own story, and with Preston!

Kit is a deep as hell character, she loves, she hurts and my heart damn near breaks for her. Beauitful and broken, an angel with a shattered heart wings.

Preston, well, where to begin? Arrogant and cocky but with a heart of pure fucking gold. I feel in love with him quickly and so hard I almost didn't know what had happened.

These two characters have such interesting pasts, both full of hurt, pain and carry shame that shouldnt belong to them. I loved them as enemies, and I love them as friends. Love is strange, love knows no shape and no gender, love happens and sometimes there is no stopping that tide, no matter how hard you fight it. Sometimes love sneaks up on you when you aren't even looking for it...

When a heart is divided up, can we see where all their Complicated Parts will fit back together to make something new and beautiful? 💗

TW for school shooting on page

Umm this was messy. And not a messy I enjoy? First, it felt like I was missing a lot of backstory. After looking through Goodreads, I realized this was a spinoff of the Complicated Hearts duet. I definitely think that needs to be read first. We just got dumped a ton of information about a ton of characters and I just felt like I was missing a lot. This book was just all over the place and I felt really weird that Kit was a lesbian but Preston kept on hitting on her and wanting to get with her. She repeatedly told him she wasn't interested. But those are the two POVs, so apparently they're going to end up together? That just didn't sit well with me. And everyone else in her life tells her she's awful for being a lesbian and needs to be with a man. Preston and Kit are caught up in a messy triangle with a very messy person. And then there's drama with Preston's brother. And then there was a super graphic school shooting. And while they're hiding, Preston and Kit have a conversation about their relationship and Preston can't stop noticing Kit's belly button ring?? With a literal shooter on the other side of the door? This book was just over the top and I wasn't really loving it. Things finally got interesting when there was a time jump, but that wasn't enough to save the book for me.

There is something so incredibly awe inspiring about a book that stays with you.

One that you can open and start reading from the very beginning and stay glued to until the very end.

And even after it’s over, you wish it wasn’t. Because you’re still wanting to stay in that world.

I’m so picky about what I read. Because let’s face it - I’m a spoiled brat when it comes to my books.

But fucking Ashley Jade.

Ashley fucking Jade.

She sucks me in to the whirlwind that is her writing and throws me back out and expects me to be able to function.

And I can’t. Because all I can think about is

More
More
More

I feel like no matter what Ashley gives, she will always leave me wanting more. That’s just the amazing author that she is. And I’m very greedy for her words.

While this book is not my typical reading and most definitely not your average love story.

It’s still beautiful and painful all the same.

5 Stars is really a slap to the face for this book. Because it deserves a billion - every star in the Sky.

I wouldn’t change not one single thing about this book. I fucking loved it. I pray that every single person reading this review gives this book a chance. You will not be disappointed.

It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and raw and ugly and everything that makes a good book an extraordinary book.

This has never been done before and it was done flawlessly.

Bravo Ashley fucking Jade.

Bravo.

Kit and Preston are definitely complicated to say the least. I was introduced to them in Complicated Hearts and immediately saw the potential for their own book or in this case series.
These two characters are so flawed which is also the reason why I’m drawn to them. Kit is a lesbian but that doesn’t mean she and Preston doesn’t have chemistry cause they sure do. Whether they’re enemies or close to be being friends it’s there. I felt it and needed more of their story but it takes its time and it has to because of their history. The one they share and of them as individuals.
This is Part 1 of their story and it’s just the beginning. A lot of groundwork for their story has been done with this book and I’m excited to see where these two fascinating characters are heading next.

First Book on the Complicated Parts trilogy and it felt like a prequel, but I did liked anyway.

A bit more of the first half is about the events that happened in Complicated Hearts Duet timeline, but for the point of view of Kit and Preston...
It was interesting to know their thoughts, their feelings and their demons.

Second part jumps forward three years later, and what's they're doing with their lives after the final events of Complicated Hearts.

The author said that it's not necessary to read the first duet to fully enjoy this Trilogy, and she's right, because almost every interaction that they had in the first duet, is portrayed in Fold, but from their own POV.

BUT, I do recommend anyway because Landon, Asher and Breslin's duet is amazing and Kit and Preston are a huge part of it.

I've never read a book about a lesbian falling in love with a straight guy, so I'm definitely into all the complications of this uncommon couple.

Starting bluff now!

From the author’s foreword ….
Both Preston and Kit are flawed and unconventional characters. In order to understand them, you'll need to leave your expectations and everything you thought you knew about romance books behind before you turn that first page. Their story isn't a traditional love story by any means...but it IS a love story.

There is no better way to describe this story, the word complicated doesn’t even begin to cover the complexities of it. Which is exactly why I was captivated by it, it’s no unusual, so out of your comfort zone, so full of feels and raw emotions it was impossible to remain unaffected. I love when I start reading a book thinking to find an easy read and bam I’m smacked on the head with a fuckton of issues, thank you Ms Jade for writing this story, for giving it to us, for taking this risk and smashing into billion pieces the box.

Kit is a pink dream girl, I instantly clicked to her sensitivity and was screaming so loud every time people took advantage of her, I wanted to squeeze her and reassure her everything would be fine eventually… and I would have been the biggest liar or all, because the author puts this girl through so much I was emotionally drained. Yet this amazing pink lady picks up her pieces and gets back up ready to resume fighting.

Preston, the jock, the gambler, the heart breaker… there is so much more to this flawed, damaged boy, his past is gut wrenching painful, I was rooting so strongly for him, he faces trials after trials and he’s mostly alone, his actions misunderstood and judged, he never gets a break, I couldn’t believe how broken he was and yet he never gives up.

This is no conventional story, this is not what you would expect and I cannot stress enough how perfect this story is. These characters are perfectly imperfect, beautifully flawed and tragically broken. I can tell you by then end of this first instalment your perspective on what a love story should be like will totally change, shading new light on how love is sometimes found in the most unexpected places and with the most improbable people.

~~𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. 𝘼 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮. 𝘼 𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚. 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚. ~~

No words sounded more true! This right there resonated with me on such a fundamental level, I could fully identify with Kit and her distress. I went through this story so fast I had no time to catch my breath, a fast paced narrative led me to a cliffhanger I wasn’t ready to face, I’m grateful book two is already there to wait for me.

Fold is book one in the Complicated Parts trilogy. First off I must have been living under a rock with this series. I love Ashley Jade books and I had no clue about this series. Enter late then never.

Quick synopsis, Preston and Kit have mutual friends and a complication of recent events. Preston becomes obsessed and addicted to Kit. There is some serious push/pull with these two.

Kit and Preston are both very complex characters with many flaws. Especially Preston who has demons that he never addressed. To prove his point he did something so stupid, I wanted to smack him.

Kit is a deep complex character with a side of crazy. I love this girl. She is chasing love and can’t seem to get a break. Controlled by her evil grandmother, who shows no love and doesn’t agree with her sexuality.

That cliffhanger was something else. Have I ever told you how much I love complex characters? They are my absolute favorites. These two check off all my boxes. There will be times your pissed, I was. I know with the Ashley Jade’s books to trust the process.

"Love isn’t complicated, people are." Ain't that the truth !!!!
A story of Dislluisoned Love , like no other. Complications...pffft, this story has a whole yarnball unravelled and knotted up. It's a virtual minefield of emotions resulting in cross-entanglements of relationships!!! Who's in love with who, who's been betrayed by who?
EVERYBODY !!!!! seriously, Kit Bishop has the worst luck in love. She wears her heart on the sleeve and very naively trusts people. A typical trait of a person with abandonment issues who just wants to be loved
I'm so bad at love I should be court ordered to have the statement tattooed on my forehead in capital letters.

description

But so does Preston Holden. As they say-unlucky in love, Lucky in Gamble. Preston, though a Hypercalculia,a proverbial "Rain Man", can't calculate his losses and steps in the line of fire for those he loves. He is fighting an addiction and his withdrawls take him to a bridge one day.

description

Stuck between past and present, he must choose to turn back to the chaos in his life or figure out a new way to forge forward. On this tiny bridge he meets a fellow throaway kid-Kit and they both get talking. They're both betrayed, abandoned and skimming the bottom of the luck bucket. And then they both are stuck in a life and death situation. So it's but natural they gravitate towards each other. Holding on to each other, Preston catches when she's about to fall !
"You, Kit Bishop, deserve the real fucking deal. The best kind of love. The constant, unwavering, selfless, for better or worse, never goes away and they'd do anything to see you smile kind of love. And one day, someone is going to come along and give it to you in spades. They're gonna crash right into you and never let go.”

description

The story is about both of these unlikliest of couples who keep meeting, repelling, loving, fighting and fate keeps slapping them in their faces and throwing them towards each other.
So much heartbreak and so much anguish just seeps into your marrow, it's hurtful.
Yup... still feels like someone put my heart in a blender . Then smiled from ear to ear as they pressed liquefy.

description

Ashley has conjured characters who are burning in a slow burn pit, they are confused and aching and running from their past mistakes.
The story is engaging and very intricate, now can't wait for book 2!!

First instalment in a trilogy. An unconventional love story between a straight guy and a lesbian. A 3 year time jump. Interesting morally grey characters. Some funny moments. Some sarcasm. Great villain, very manipulative and remorseless. Great audio narration (available on Scribd). Ends in a cliffhanger.

After reading Complicated Hearts, which I LOVED,I was intrigued by Preston and Kit,especially Preston.
So I was thrilled when it was confirmed they’d being getting their story told.
Preston is such a complex character.
He has so many layers to him.
But he only shows the arrogant conceited I don’t give a damn outer layer of himself.
Underneath that superficial thin layer lies a depth of complexities and turmoil.
He’s such an interesting character.
Like a rubix cube when I think I’ve figured it out only to discover nope I haven’t.
Preston is like that.
I think I’ve finally figured him out only to be surprised no there’s still more.
Kit,omg I love Kit!
She is so sassy and so freaking loyal!
She’s strong and so feisty. But has such vulnerability to her.
I loved how giving and loving she is. Even when not receiving as much as she gives to others.
Kit brought so many smiles to my face and gave me lol moments while I was reading.
But she also made me feel pain in my heart for her.
Combine these to personalities together and you have one dynamic explosive combination!
Their conversations are not only funny and hilarious but they are also serious and emotional.
Even though they should not fit they are a perfect match.
Their feelings, their turmoils, their aspirations may be very different but they still click together.
The pull and draw they feel for one another is like a living breathing entity.
It comes to life off the pages!
Ms. Jade has done a superb job with the writing of this intricate “complicated” story.
Everything not only flowed perfectly. But she wrote the characters with so much intrigue in them it isn’t hard to see why Preston and Kit are drawn to one another. Even with Kit being a lesbian.
I’m not only referring to the sexual curiosity or fascination they may feel but I’m more talking about the mental and emotional connection they have with one another. Their feelings were extremely strong and urgent it had me so caught up and so invested in them I couldn’t stop reading their story until I reached the last page.
This may be the one time I’m glad a book ends in a cliffhanger.
This story has so much in it,it needs to be read and thought about to fully appreciate it.
This is why the cliffhanger works.
Outstanding book!
I’m so excited to read the next book because I know it’s going to be spectacular!

5.5 complicated, pink spiked, lucky stars

Well how do I start this one: 🤔🙄😳 yes wait:

What the heck happened here? And whatever happened, can I have more?

Was I prepared to start Complicated Parts right now? No I was not (okay yes I was maybe kind of 😋😍 but I wasn't). Was I prepared for what Kit would be like? I was definitely not! Was I prepared for Preston Holden??? NO THE FREAK NOT! Nothing prepared me for this amazing, awesome, bestest hottest story. Forget the teasing and little spoilers. It's like nothing I have ever read before.

Does Preston even have a license to use that weapon of tongue/mouth? Is there a warning label about self combustion possibility from all the hot slow soul friction? A potent potion against the spell that is woven in between the pages that let's you irrecove fall in love with this book and with Ashley Jade.

This story is fast paced and slow burn all in one. While my brain run to catch the story line, my heart hit the brake and tucked and clenched and melted... Maybe my lungs came in between them and got squeezed and bruised. And when my throat was closed up from emotions I teared up from laughter 0.26 seconds later.

Ashley Jade created the most romantic non romance part of a story ever. The mind blowing built up and melt down ends very whoa like and left me reeling because I need more.

Sooo it’s been like 3 or so days since I finished Complicated Parts and OMG..Kit & Preston what a BEAUTIFUL TRAIN WRECK. I never thought two broken and flawed totally unconventional characters could consume me and own me,but they did! CP is one of those one sitting reads where your completely invested in the lives of everyone one in this book. There is so much to say about this book but I feel like I’m going to struggle doing justice. What I loved about this book is I felt like as unconventional as it may seem it was real, real faults, real problems in some way that made me connecting with this story and these characters so much easier. There are things in this book that I’ve never read about before, so a few firsts for me. Ashley Jades writing itself is borderline flawless, this being her first book I’ve read I was able to just get stuck into her words like I’d been reading the forever! Kudos to Ashley Jade for stepping out of the box and giving me a book I’ll always remember for pushing my boundaries and giving me something I wouldn’t normally pick up and read. I’m a fan for life!

I don’t even know where to start with this review. After reading CH 1&2 I knew that I needed to see Kit and Preston’s story. These are two broken characters that have flaws, but deep down they are amazing. I could see the good in them even when the not so good was like it was a beacon. I love that we not only see things that had happened in the first 2, but also it made it all seem fresh, a new set of eyes to experience I through. I want to say so much, rant how it’s a cliffhanger, how the author made me scream “come on!!” at my kindle. But I won’t. I’ll say this. This author has a way with words and crafting a story that is refreshing, and addictive. I know the worst (in a good way)? Best? Most exciting? Is yet to come. I can’t even give it a word, but I know it’s coming. 5 “Give me more” stars #2OCCJD

around 2.5 🌬

’We were nothing more than two ships passing in the night.
And yet...I know without a doubt she's the one person I'd do anything for. Whether or not it makes sense to me or anyone else.
Kit Bishop is in my veins.
But unfortunately for me, she's the drug I'll never be able to indulge in and the high I can't chase.
She's nothing more than an illusion. It's all she'll ever be.’

the book : Kit’s (h) fiancee got preggo w/ Preston (H) as her baby daddy, and Preston’s girlfriend (the same lying manipulative shit face) cheated on him w/ Kit. the series is about Kit & Preston but this book has no romance between them yet, instead we got basically sorta a recap of the Complicated Hearts duet (side characters from this book) almost 75% of it. so since i didnt know who these poly couple are, i was confused, and bored (ofc)

’That said, just because I had a conversation with Preston and told him things I've never told anyone else, including my best friend, it doesn't mean I have feelings for him.
Feelings other than strong hate that is.
I mean...he's having a baby with my fiancée. Correction—Ex-fiancée.
He's also an asshole who comes equipped with a certain appendage that I want absolutely nothing to do with.’

essentially this was not that good but addictive? especially bcs it’s filled w/ miscommunications & irritating manipulations. the reason behind i couldnt stop reading wasnt even bcs of the couple / any of the characters. tbh im not sure why coz i didnt ditch this like i would any other book had i was that bored even though i skimmed some as well. not sure whether to continue on tho. maybe after i read Broken Knight

btw i just realized ive been reading strings of 2 stars these past 2 days. though at least they werent dnfs (much)

You want a sweet sugary romance? Nope. You want an Insta love romance? Nope. You get what you never knew you so desperately craved. Raw emotion from the first word to the last. Complicated Parts isn't a love story. It isn't a story about sexuality either. What it is is a story about the absolute mess that life makes of two very complicated characters' hearts and what happens when those messes collide. This is their story of emotional destruction, hopeless circumstance, and pure sensuality. This is a story that will grab your heart and cackle gleefully as it tears in and plays with your every emotion. Laughter, tears, yearning, anger...you name it. You will love and hate this book in equal measure then beg for part two because even a chaotic mess can be the most beautiful thing in the world.

The mastery of Ashley Jade's pen has struck again.

With an open mind and an equally open heart, I devoured this book from start to finish...more than once. Ashley Jade’s books are an automatic one-click for me and this story does not disappoint!

Every author worth their weight in gold has something to teach us. This author and this story are no exception.
I was reminded that love should have no boundaries. Who you fall in love with is not pre-determined, and if *your* person comes along, nothing and no one should stand in your way.
This story is unique, pushes boundaries, and embraces social inclusion. It opens your eyes to all the possibilities falling in love has to offer.

Preston. Oh, Preston. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this character.
Is he cocky? Yes.
Is he flawed? Of course… aren't we all?
Is he redeemable? Absolutely.
He is the kind of man you want by your side when the chips are down. (Pun intended) He's a hero in my eyes, many times over, and that’s just one of the many things which makes him special.

Kit is sassy and vulnerable in equal measure. Her past heartbreaks have her wearing her heart on her sleeve, yet she rises against challenges and always seems to come out on top. She’s quick-witted and compassionate, embracing life with a flare only she can pull off.

Preston and Kit’s connection is undeniable. Their relationship is fraught with challenges and complications, making you root for them to discover their way and find happiness.

This quote defines these two characters flawlessly…
“You’re colorful and beautiful and unconventional. A unique blend of heart and fire that should never be diluted. A girl who’s so imperfectly perfect, she steals my breath.”

Complicated Hearts Book 1 & 2 is where I first fell in love with Preston and Kit. If you haven’t read these books yet…what are you waiting for? You don’t need to read them to enjoy Complicated Parts, but why would you deprive yourself the pleasure?

Ms. Jade has dealt us a royal flush with Complicated Parts (Book 1) and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Just when she blew me away with her Complicated Hearts duet, Ashley Jade has managed to leave me questioning the fluidity of sexuality and how two people can be so perfect for each other, yet fight against everything telling them to be together.

Preston and Kit are a slow burn. This isn't going to be what you want unless you like watching characters fall in love and not realize it. And not because of some silly reasoning, but because every fiber of their being is telling them it isn't possible.

So, when you start this, just know you're in for the long haul. You're in for the slow burn, the pain, and the people.

You're going to be asking how in the hell these two people can ever come together. You're going to ask yourself why they can't see it. You're going to want to know how it'll all work out.

Is this love in the cards?
Or will they continue to crash and burn?

Wow is about all I could say after I finished this book. I truely felt like I understood every emotion and thought that these characters had. Every word was perfectly chosen to make you feel everything. I was crying, laughing, yelling and smiling and sometimes I was doing more than one at the same time. I loved every single part of this book and can't wait for book 2.

Series review:
Not only have Kit and Preston had a long and complicated journey to this show stopping finale, but author Ashley Jade herself has had quite a journey in writing this trilogy. But every word, every moment, was worth the wait. And, like so many other stories told by this unique and bold story teller, this series was nothing like I expected, yet somehow everything I needed. With every passing page, Ashley made me fall more in love with this special couple. There is no other story out there like this- Kit and Preston are in a league of their own.

Ashley has such a keen ability to take a trope and rewrite it- stories that are refreshingly different and unexpected. There’s gutsiness to her storytelling- she’s unafraid to tell stories that aren’t easy to swallow, in fact, she savors them. And she is unafraid to do what so many avoid- she lets her characters be deeply flawed, characters that end up being their own villains. And that’s the crux of what makes this trilogy so damn consuming- Kit and Preston are not your average love story. And their own character flaws are the villain.

This loves story began with the most unlikely beginnings- a lesbian and playboy, brought together by their shared cheating girlfriend, a broken engagement, and an unplanned pregnancy. And thus is the magic of Ashley Jade- that commitment to finding beauty, truth, and love in the most impossible, the most complicated dynamics - and somehow that story becomes her most romantic story she’s told. And boy does this finale deliver on the romance. Oh, we have all that characteristic AJ drama, but we have so many swoons, so much heart, and so much heat. Fans will know Ashley loathes spoilers of all kinds, and I respect her vision, and your reading experience, too much to share too much about this story. What I will say is that Ashley packs a lot into the finale- threads I anticipated, those I did not, yet each moment serves a profound and poignant purpose in each characters’ arc. I flew through this long story in one sitting, mesmerized by every word. It’s unexpected, but just right, messy, but perfect.

What makes this series are the characters. Oh these characters. Kit’s is a journey about identity and acceptance- one that flips that experience on its head, but shines the same thematic light. About a broken girl who just wants to be loved, letting herself be loved by someone that challenges her very sense of self. And Preston’s is a story of redemption and forgiveness, about a broken boy figuring out how to face his trauma, how to heal instead of self-destructing because of it. And their love is the catalyst- a love that is an exception. A love that is an anomaly. And that’s the brilliance of their chemistry and their connection. How Kit finds her truest self in loving someone that, at first, feels at odds with everything she knows about herself. A love that fractures the identity she fought so hard to claim somehow helps her find her truest identity. And how Preston heals by finding a love that breaks him completely, how he finds safety and redemption in someone who exposes him so completely- to himself.

I could not adore Kit any more. She’s one of my favorite heroine’s of all time, and certainly one of the most interesting, nuanced, and captivating characters that Ashley has ever written. I related to her so fiercely- her need for love and acceptance. Her bleeding heart and wounded vulnerability- she’s just so GOOD. Such a beautiful spirit. A light and open heart. The perfect contrast to Preston’s dark repression. I loved Kit from the start, but I’m not sure I truly loved Preston until this finale. And I FLOVE him. He’s still quick tempered, brash, and brooding. But he is beautiful. Ashley lets us see all of his complexities, she opens his heart. And like Kit, he has so much goodness, but he just keeps making mistakes, and he just can’t seem to conquer his demons. I felt so deeply for his journey- as both characters really confront the best and worst parts of themselves as they learn that that is the ultimate barrier - the parts of themselves they refuse to face.

Secrets, past pain, complicated questions, and twists abound- but this story stays true to its core tenet- love. A love unexpected and unbreakable, a love that liberates, a love that redeems, a love that defies trope or explication. And that love is what Ashley is trying to help us see- that love doesn’t have to be understandable or neat or traditional. Love can defy expectation or understanding, love can be chaotic and flawed, but at the end of the day, love is home, safety. Love is where you find yourself- even if you find yourself with someone unexpected. And Kit and Preston prove that better than anyone else- the lesbian, the playboy, that met because of their shared cheating girlfriend. Two people who had seemingly impossible odds, two people whose story is messy and destructive. They have the most beautiful and powerful love of all - a connection so deep that it topples everything they know and has the world rebuilt around it. All those complicated parts somehow fit together- jagged on their own, complete and whole together. Brava, Ashley- this is what makes your writing so special. THIS is how you tell love stories that change us. And Kit and Preston, they’ve changed my heart.

Smooth and interesting till 75%. Shit went downhill. The ending of the first book was, I’m sorry to say, anticlimactic. Nope, doesn’t do it for me. The first part had wonderful character developments and plot, which I did not expect, mind you.

But I don’t know what happened after that or why it did. There were loopholes. Nothing about Becca and the kid? Maybe the next book?

This was not the kind of L.J.Shen type cheese, that I usually rate 2-3 stars, and while certain parts of the story stood out to me, the rest didn’t, unfortunately. Better hope for book 2?

2.5 stars

When I saw synopsis for this book I had to read it because it sounded ridiculous and it kind is. Kit has said that she is lesbian thousands times but it wasn't giving anything. Preston is mess but interesting one. Anyway it's Ashley Jade book.

This is the start of Preston and Kits story. Ashley digs down into Preston and kits past and shows why they are they way the are. Preston seems like such a hard ass on the outside, but he is a mix of conceit and sweet on the inside. Becca is such a bitch and I would love to kick her in the teeth. Kits grandmother is also someone I would like to smack. Kit deserves so much better than her.

I cannot wait to see what book 2 has in store for us.
