44 years ago, a mother placed her daughter for adoption after she was born.

On Friday, they reunited for the first time after finding each other through a DNA test.

"It was just.... I don't know," said the daughter Robin Geiger.

After over four decades of waiting to meet her biological mother, Robin Geiger won't have to wait any longer.

"I thought about this my whole life.... Wondered about mom, dad siblings, aunts... uncles and now I know," said Geiger.

After Robin took a DNA test, she found information about the family she never knew.

"I wasn't, I didn't expect any of this to happen as fast as it did because if it happened it happened," said Geiger.

"My sister text me and says don't freak out, but I think this is your daughter and I said, I'm freaking out," said Robin's biological mother Karen Ussery.

The two have since spent the last few months getting to know each other through social media talking about the similarities between them and how life has turned out for Robin.

"We laugh the same, we kind of talk the same, I just finally ended up finding the piece of the puzzle that was missing," said Geiger.

"She already feels like family and she is, but its just like we already love her," said Ussery.

With Robin living in Kansas City and her mom in Shelton, both said they're looking forward to strengthening the bond they have.

"It's a lot to take in, people are going to have to wear name tags because I'm not going to remember everybody but it's a lot... its overwhelming," said Geiger.

"My imagination is just off the wall so I can't pinpoint exactly what our relationship is going to evolve in and I can't wait though," said Ussery.

While they can't make up for the lost years, Robin and Karen said both families are planning a reunion in September where they can get to know each other even more.
