DiAnn Mills' books have been hit or miss for me, and there's only been one or two I've really liked. But her newest release, Fatal Strike, is a fascinating and page-turning suspense novel with fabulous characters and a touch of romance. Five stars from me!

Honestly, the romance aspect may have been one of my favorite parts of this book. Both characters acted like the adults and professionals they were and, instead of acting like hormonal teenagers, they communicated (!!!) and didn't let their feelings for each other get in the way of their job or other relationships. Well done, Mills! I also really appreciated how instead of finding a significant other and their problems magically melting away, the characters found themselves having to confront their issues and pasts and in that process drew the other to God.

The plot was full of suspense and plot twists and I was left guessing at every turn! The story felt like a unique twist on your typical suspense novel, which was a breath of fresh air. Both our main characters are very realistic humans that I found easy to relate to. The faith themes, as I briefly mentioned, were woven throughout the story and weren't too backseat, while also not being too prominent and "in your face."

Overall, I greatly enjoyed this romantic suspense novel and look forward to reading what Mills writes next! I highly recommend checking this one out if you love suspense, realistic characters, and a bit of romance.

I loved getting to know Agents, Leah and Jon and you are going to love meeting them as well. As with all of Mills books the romance was very good. The whole story was so worth the read. The only negative thing I can say about this book was it was not long enough. I hated for it to come to the end.

There is a religious element in Fatal Strike as much of the plot revolves around the characters faith and a connection to a certain church. Both Leah and Jon struggle with their pasts and their questioning faith is expressed along with their uncertainties about forgiveness. The plot was tight and the connections that were drawn between all the characters were intriguing. There were many twists and turns to follow and there was very little down time as the action kept Leah and Jon hopping. The relationship that developed between Leah and Jon was fun but serious at the same time. They had to get to know each other in the toughest of circumstances, even with an attraction smoldering between them. Overall, Fatal Strike was a suspenseful crime drama that packs a powerful punch on many levels!

A very good suspense. I read this when I was feeling bad one day and needed something to distract me and, because it was exactly the medicine I needed, I'm adding the fifth star because I honestly couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed that the leads are both award-winning snipers who team together to help stop crime. It's a profession that is often stereotyped as "loners" and it was great seeing these two experts work together. I really wasn't expecting the amount of twists in the plot and there was so much there that I had plenty of suspects to consider for the final issue, and it was neat to see how the details tied together in the end.

Overall, I think this was one of my favorite reads from Diann Mills! It definitely kept me in suspense right up to the ending.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills is a predictable, unoriginal tale of drug chasing. From the first chapter, I had a good idea of how the story would lay out, and I was proven correct. The characters were flat and had told their story before. I had a hard time staying focused on the story. I have seen the story before written by a number of romantic suspense authors. Not that Mills doesn't know how to write; she does, but I have read this drug chasing and terrorists plots a number of times, and they are really repetitive and boring. While this story might be just the right story with plenty of action for some fans of romantic suspense, Fatal Strike did not work for me. I wanted something a little more original with tons of hair raising moments and an unpredictable ending. Fans of Irene Hannon and Colleen Coble might be overjoyed with Fatal Strike, but not me.

I received a complimentary copy of Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills from Tyndale Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

description

Following a string of recent and prominent murders using snake venom that has the calling card of a local gang infiltration, a team of FBI agents, led by a highly trained sniper duo, descend on Galveston to deescalate the threat and bring justice to the victims. Tensely woven from the opening sequence, the story was incredibly fast-paced and set a desperate tone to find the answers to what has set a community on edge.

"Her faith will be her strength or weakness."

As Jon and Leah set out to seek the truth behind these horrible crimes, their detective work picks up the pace and so too does the mutual attraction felt between them. Despite their tough exteriors, both are fragile individuals, yet it is through their weaknesses that their strengths can shine. Each carries quite a bit of baggage, making them reluctant to get too close, yet as the circumstances unfold it becomes harder and harder to deny the feelings developing between them. I appreciate the light romance aspects of the story that take backstage to the importance of professionalism. Additionally, I am such a fan of how the author is able to balance the very real human characteristics of grit and grace in such a gentle and admirable way. Leah's job as a sniper doesn't make her any less feminine than her best friend who has a house full of children. Jon's questioning of faith doesn't make him a hypocrite. The author is able to masterfully showcase both spiritual and social messages throughout the story while also using them to make connections to the plot.

"People aren't perfect. Just because they have faith doesn't mean they don't make mistakes."

I love that these characters are so well developed and relatable. From the criminals committing the crimes to the high ranking officials within law enforcement seeking justice, everyone has something to hide. These secrets not only draw out the investigation, but also make it quite difficult to know who to actually trust! And as with any good mystery, you'll be led astray by the fantastically placed red herrings a few times along the way before the shocking truth is discovered.

This suspenseful crime drama is action-packed with very little down time! Even the dialogue is short, sweet, and to the point! Insightful storytelling makes this an entertaining and engaging read that should not be missed! I can't wait for the next one!

I received a copy of this book for free. This is my thoughtful and honest review.

Fatal Strike struck me hard with its swift pace, tight writing, and a plot which had FBI agents, snipers, opioid, murder using rattlesnake venom. That really rattled me while reading.

Leah and Jon were the agents in question who were investigating the murder of law enforcement officials using snake venom. The story led to many troughs and plateaus before the end was revealed.

My first book by DiAnn Mills, I have to admit the author did not allow me to breathe while reading. Every scene in the book happened for a reason. Jon and Leah were great agents who painstakingly took every piece of evidence and looked at it thoroughly. I loved the fact that they were not brash or rude who used their badge to intimidate witnesses. I found them to be quite empathetic. That pulled me into the story.

The plot line was known and I could guess at the string-puller. But the twists and connections between the victims and their families brought a sparkle to the book. The author's style of writing made it easy to keep reading.

Romance between the main characters was okay, I didn't really feel that intense hint of desire between them. But I suppose working in close quarters and finding humor and support in your partner does lead to love and relationship.

Overall, this book had all the things would make it a fun romantic suspense. I think I liked my breakfast read, wouldn't you say?

I am not even sure where to begin with my thoughts on this book!  I haven't read one of DiAnn's books in a while and I'm not sure why.  Her books are gripping, remind us of faith, family, and ties in a multitude of issues that we see in the world today.

Leah and Jon have a hard job, or at least one that I wouldn't want to perform, they are snipers for the FBI.  It is an important job but I wonder how someone can put aside the fact that they will most likely kill someone in the line of duty?  Granted anyone that is killed is usually a criminal, but it must weigh heavily on their hearts, or I would think that it might.  Despite their jobs and their alpha personalities, there is something between them that sparks further investigation to see if it might be more than just friendship.

There were so many aspects of this book that I enjoyed.  The characters were fleshed out and sometimes complex, the Christian part struck the perfect balance to the fast-paced action, there is a priest that struggles with his faith and doing what is right for society, and even a bit of potential romance for Leah and Jon.  All of the characters felt real with their own issues and how they dealt with those issues.  A big one for Leah is her fear of snakes and this book has them "thrown" at her from multiple directions.  I admired her strength despite it all especially in working to overcome that fear.  I felt like Jon was supportive of her and understood that sometimes there are things we are afraid to address in this life.

The main story centers around the deaths of three prominent citizens in Galveston, a gang, and a drug crisis.  The stories are interwoven neatly without giving away too many details to keep the reader in suspense.  I have to admit I did figure out part of the story only because looking at all of the characters, this was the only one that didn't feel right.  There were many more involved in the end and I had a flurry of different emotions for the various characters.  Happy to see some get their just rewards, and sad that others had to endure the situations in which they were placed.

Leah and Jon both had unresolved issues when it came to family or close friends and their journey to closure rounded out the story.  The only thing I didn't figure out was Leah's heritage.  She mentions an ancestor that escaped slavery and there is a brief description of Leah, but that is about all is said in the story.  It didn't really matter in the end, was just something I questioned.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and give it 5 paws up.

When a killer begins injecting victims with Galveston, TX, and those targeted are law enforcement, the FBI sends in two well trained agents, both of whom are snipers. Jon and Leah are tasked with bringing the killer to justice before anyone else is targeted.

This a tight, well written inspirational suspense novel, and I enjoyed it for the most part. About midway through, it kind of bogged down for me and the romance portion seemed a bit forced. But that's only my opinion. Reviews are very subjective. It is a good novel of suspense and I can recommend it.

An interesting suspense novel by DiAnn Mills. Fatal Strike intrigues the readers with a look into FBI procedures and various twists and turns throughout the storyline. This was my first book my DiAnn Mills. The story didn’t hold my attention as much as I thought it would, and I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I typically do. However, this was an enjoyable read and I think suspense fans will enjoy it.

A string of murders using rattlesnake venom brings a team of FBI experts to Galveston, Texas. Finding a connection proves difficult. Everyone seems to be hiding something.

Another interesting crime drama by this dynamic author, with a subject pulled from current problems: gang violence, border concerns, illegal drugs. The main characters are smart, capable and tough, but have their own regrets and fears from their pasts. The dialogue is quick and snappy, with some romantic interest. Plenty of action and revealed clues to the mystery kept the story rolling along at a steady pace. It gave me a peek into how stressful and frustrating at times it must be for law enforcement officers to get to the bottom of real crimes.

The involvement of the parish priest and the characters' own personal struggles added some faith elements. Finding a way forward through grief, regrets, and difficult parent-child relationships were key themes. I liked the wrapup and hopeful ending.

Recommend for readers who like police or crime based dramas, with some faith and a bit of romance.

Two snipers team up to uncover who is behind a string of murders but multiple suspects, wrong turns, and possible gang involvement keep Leah and Jon (and readers) on their toes in Fatal Strike. DiAnn Mills doesn’t give readers time to take a breath once they pick up this romantic suspense novel.

I appreciated that Leah and Jon discussed whatever was on their minds. They communicated like the adults and professionals they are. While they both have fears and regrets they’ve run from for too long, the case makes both partners face them head-on.

Even the supporting characters were well-rounded. And so many of them have secrets, it’s no wonder the FBI agents find it challenging to solve their investigation.

Leah and Jon’s romance flows naturally into the storyline, and I loved that they could tease each other but also had each other’s back’s when required. Mills also weaves a faith thread into this story in such an organic way, the book would feel incomplete without it.

"I'd rather face a dozen armed bad guys than one snake."

Unfortunately, there have been a series of Galveston murders using rattlesnake venom as the weapon of choice. Paired with a new partner, F.B. I. Agent Leah Riesel can only hope that Jon Colbert doesn't have the opportunity to eyewitness her full blown phobia. Tasked with tracking down the murderers, supposed members of a local gang who call themselves The Venonos, Leah and Jon have very few clues and only one eyewitness to a body dumping behind a local Catholic church. They're on a race against time to make sure the killers don't have the opportunity to make a fourth "fatal strike".

This fast paced suspense blends numerous suspects with sparse evidence; a bit dis-jointed in places, allowing the relational side story between Leah and Jon to fill in the gaps. Both of these highly trained snipers bring shame, guilt, fear and regret into their partnership, but it's amazing how "half the fun of fishing is who you're with" . . . . . guaranteed to be the favorite scene of most readers!

Fatal Strike is part police procedural and part romantic suspense, with a unique plot and a quick pace.

The killers in this book get bonus points for creativity. Why use a boring old gun when you can make a statement with snake venom? The whodunit of this case kept me guessing throughout.

The main characters are well developed. With Leah, the words that kept coming to mind were “staunch” and “stiff.” She’s the kind of person you could work alongside for a decade and still not know much about. Jon comes across as more relaxed, and he’s ultimately good for Leah, breaking down her walls of defense.

When I requested this book to review, I didn’t realize it was Christian fiction. Admittedly, this is not a genre I typically read. This aspect is more of an undercurrent, as the characters explore their personal issues with faith in a way that many people struggle with throughout their lives, but the content isn’t at all preachy.

I used to be a real DiAnn Mills fan, and I can't remember why I stopped reading her novels. I think it was mostly that there were so many other books to read! Anyway, I was pleased when I saw there was a new DiAnn Mills romantic suspsense novel available for review.

But I didn't enjoy Fatal Strike nearly as much as I remember enjoying previous DiAnn Mills romantic suspense novels. The thriller/suspense element of Fatal Strike was excellent—there was plenty of action and tension, enough to satisfy any thriller or suspense fan. But the writing was somewhat formulaic. It was polished enough. It just didn't shine.

I also don't think it satisfied in the Christian or the romantic elements. The Christian element was very low-key. Neither of the main characters were Christians at the beginning of the novel. While one went through a spiritual journey on the page, it was understated to the point of being almost invisible. The other may have had a foxhole conversion, but one muttered possible prayer does not make someone a Christian.

The Christian thread was redeemed by Father Gabriel, who annoyed both investigators by standing up for his Christian beliefs at the risk of his life. I don't necessarily agree with his actions, but that says more about me than Father Gabriel. I admire the conviction behind his actions. The Christian church would be stronger if we had more Father Gabriels.

(There is one plus to this "Christian-lite" plot: this is definitely a book you could give to an unsaved friend, especially an unsaved Catholic friend, because Father' Gabriel's faith elements felt very natural.)

The romance element was even less satisfying. I knew the novel was supposed to be romantic suspense, but there was a complete lack of romantic tension (unless you count statements like "he had the most gorgeous partner on the planet", which felt like Mills was trying to shoehorn the romance into the plot). I prefer to see and feel the romance for myself, rather than me told she's gorgeous or he's fun (and he wasn't. At least, he hadn't done anything fun at that point, so the comment made no sense).

It didn't help that I wasn't particularly enamoured with either Leah or Jon. Leah spent much of the novel angsting about her non-existent relationship with her parents, another plot point that felt shoehorned in for the sake of it. I didn't see that anything had happened to prompt Leah's soul-searching, so it came across as contrived.

Jon annoyed me by belittling Leah for her fear of snakes. I may be biased because I come from a country with no snakes, but I don't like them. On this, Leah and I are in total agreement. I can totally understand her reaction to a pit full of rattlesnakes—she was braver than I would have been.

Apart from that, the plot was solid, with plenty of twists and turns, and an evildoer that made sense (I've read thrillers where the evildoer is revealed, and I'm "Nope, it couldn't have been him because X".) Fatal Strike had a large cast of characters (perhaps too many—they got confusing at times), but the end made perfect sense.

Leah and Jon were both competent snipers and FBI agents, and I usually enjoy novels about competent people. It's just a shame I didn't enjoy this one.

Fatal Strike is a 400-page rollercoaster ride! It started off rather slow - with just a few twists and turns. As it turned out, the slow start was necessary so DiAnn Mills could get all her puzzle pieces on the table.

Although it took the first two-thirds of the story to “set the scene” for the climax, the last third was so thrilling that I read it in one sitting.

The Cast of Fatal Strike

There were quite a few characters in this story. If there were any more, it would have been challenging (to me) to keep them all straight. However, I don’t hold that against the author.

One of the things I really loved about this story was the way some characters switched from good guy to bad guy. It really kept me on my toes. Throughout the story, whenever a new tidbit of information was revealed about one of the characters, I processed it very carefully, always putting it into the perspective of the story. It was fun, but it turned out that I was wrong about several of the characters. That’s good suspense fiction!

The two main characters - co-protagonists - were both FBI agents. They also doubled as snipers for the bureau. However, they both kept secrets from the rest of the world. Each had compelling backstories, but each also had a distinct fear that they would have to grapple with at some point during the story.

The author kept the identify of the real antagonist(s) a secret until the climax. That didn’t bother me because the protagonists were right there with me. However, the “deeds” of the antagonist(s) were discovered throughout the story.

Technically Speaking

This was a very well edited novel. SPAG issues were pretty much nonexistent. Although, there was one word that I had never heard of before. I knew what the word meant, but I could not find that same word in any dictionary. At some point I’ll likely shoot off an email to the author to see where she found it.

As I mentioned before, the early pacing seemed rather slow. However, it slowly began to pick up, and when it started the build to the climax, there were no brakes! The rollercoaster was on the downhill, and there was no stopping it until it hit the bottom. I found it very exciting!

The story contained two subplots. One was the relationship between the main characters, and the other was faith (in God). If I have any criticism of this excellent novel, it would be that these subplots did not seem (to me) to be woven into the story as well as they should have. That is an utterly personal opinion, and it should not have any bearing on your decision to read this story.

I highly recommend this story!

DiAnn Mills delivers another smashing hit with Fatal Strike. Two FBI snipers, Leah Riesel and Jon Colbert, start the story off when they are assigned together for the first time to take down a criminal in true sniper fashion. Despite both agents' reluctance to give up the driver's seat in their new partnership, they get along quite well, and they are immediately plunged into another deadly case. While the physical attraction between these two is mutual, their relationship is first and foremost based on trust and respect. They are battling past mistakes and fears, making them both hesitant to even contemplate a serious relationship.

After that first heart-pounding scene, the chapters that follow slowly build into an interesting and unique story of a Galveston community besieged by illegal prescription drugs, deception, betrayal, and murder by rattlesnake venom. The spiritual/Christianity aspect is moderate as both main characters grapple with self-forgiveness and faith, adding a thought-provoking layer to their character development. The overall pace of the story picks up considerably as the two agents inch closer to the truth and closer to discovering the identities of the real culprits behind all the murder and illegal activity. DiAnn Mills does a fantastic job of stringing the reader along without revealing too much too soon.

The two main characters, Leah and Jon, are well developed and likable. Jon's easy going personality and daily gift of a steaming cup of coffee for Leah set the bar pretty high for a leading man. Leah's love for Steampunk decor automatically makes her a favorite in my book.

All levity aside, a few serious themes set the tone for the overall story: handling the often tumultuous relationship between parents and adult children, facing and overcoming fears and phobias, and opening the heart to forgiveness and new beginnings. The action is not always nonstop in Fatal Strike, which gives the reader time to breathe in between the high-impact activity, unexpected twists, and a scene that had me mentally cowering in a corner. The author’s ability to elicit such heart-pounding emotion makes Fatal Strike a slam dunk.

Fatal Strike is a must read for any fan of soft romance with a high dose of intriguing mystery, all presented through well-written prose and impressive characterization.

With a combination of FBI Snipers, murder using rattlesnake venom, and a budding romance, DiAnn Mills has crafted a thriller fans will not want to miss.

Galveston is being hit by a new kind of killer using rattlesnake venom for murder. A local gang called the Veneno is the prime suspect and the FBI calls in agents Leah Riesel and Jon Colbert to tackle the case. They have a witness that saw a body being left on a church doorstep but soon disappears. Without their witness, they don’t have much of a case. No one around is willing to help without the fear of being the next victim and the more Leah and Jon dig, the darker the motives become. The more secrets they uncover, the more they have to face fears they didn’t even know they had.

DiAnn Mills says to expect an adventure with her books and that is definitely what readers will get with this book. The premise is gripping: death by snake venom, no thanks! My mind was reeling with what could be coming as I turned the pages. Leah and Jon had a great story, I really connected with them and the feelings they developed for each other over the course of the story. The ending kept me guessing, which I love in a suspense novel. I don’t want to be able to figure everything out quickly, I like those little surprises and DiAnn Mills always exceeds my expectations.

I have always enjoyed DiAnn Mills books and know I am going to get a great story. Fatal Strike was a really good story, but certain aspects of this story fell short for me. Leah had the ability to be a great female lead but the way her backstory was written didn’t resonate with me. If you take that out of the story, readers will have a heart pounding thrill ride. This is not my favorite novel Mills has written but it was still a very enjoyable read and one I recommend to readers that enjoy a good romantic suspense novel with a great romance and a story line that will keep you up thinking late into the night.

“Jon scooted back the chair and walked outside onto the front porch. He shoved his hands into his jean pockets and looked up at the millions of stars. Somebody designed the universe and put them into place, a Being much smarter than Jon.”

Fatal Strike is a wildfire book that kept my interest piqued from chapter to chapter. Solving murders in real life is hard enough, solving murders in Fatal Strike was even more challenging.

Mills crafted a well-plotted story around the murder of three prominent Galveston, Texas residents. Where does the story lead? Oh, my!

Leah and Jon, snipers who choose to protect lives when no one else can, are assigned to investigate the murder of a Galveston Judge. What entails from the very first chapter unfolds visually, almost like a movie.

I love and have visited Galveston many times. Mills inserted authentic touches of the town making the story more easily envisioned. Even though there is a whole slew of characters, Mills’s writing is genius in that you remember who is who throughout the book.

Naturally, as a reader, I made a lot of guesses about where the plot was going. That is another talent Mills has – your guesses are likely going to be wrong. That is where the cleverness of Fatal Strike lies. It will keep you guessing until the near end.

God and romance play a part in this book but are toned down enough that it makes you appreciate the book’s main characters and maybe, just maybe will give you pause to reflect on your own beliefs. Backgrounds on the main characters are just ample enough to not bog down the story. The added touch of Leah’s dad showing up in the story was heartwarming.

Gotta love the Epilogue and how it pulls and concludes the story exceptionally well.

I highly recommend Fatal Strike if you love a story that reacts like wildfire around murders and investigations, and is sprinkled with a hint of romance. Just a hint. You will not be disappointed.

Deb’s Dozen: Leah and Jon, FBI Snipers, Face Fears, Fatalities, Forgiveness, and Finally, Romance

Fatal Strike, DiAnn Mills’s latest entry in the suspense and mystery field, ranks as one of her best. She nails the characters of her protagonists, Leah and Jon, and makes us like them from the very beginning. Both carry secrets from their past that keep them from getting close to people. Nevertheless, their pasts make them excellent at their jobs of FBI snipers.

Fatal Strike starts with a hostage situation where Leah and Jon do what they do best–kill at a distance. The criminals, holding children as shields, make their jobs a bit easier. Immediately after the hostage situation ends, tasked with investigating a string of murders in Galveston, they cement their partnership. Three very prominent people–a cop, a lawyer, and a judge–killed by an injection of rattler venom to the heart form the center of the plot. However, a complex string of characters: a priest, a very angry police chief, the judge’s widow, several possible perps, keep Leah and Jon and us guessing.

Mills does what Mills does best with her suspense and mystery tales–leads us astray until the end of the book with just enough false trails. We wonder if the obvious suspect and real murderer coexist. Mystery, murder, and mayhem–loved every minute of Fatal Strike, which I read in one afternoon. Keep ’em coming, DiAnn! Five Stars!

DiAnn Mills, a multi-awarded, prolific author who always keeps her readers guessing, lives in Texas. However, she co-directs the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference in North Carolina. She loves her coffee, her friends, and her faith. Get to know her through her books. I’ve never once been disappointed.

Tyndale House gave me a digital ARC of Fatal Strike, but I was in no way obligated to write a review.

There's a lot of FBI investigation novels going around the book world. While I adore reading these types of stories, I have never read one like Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills. In Fatal Strike, Mills entwines the lives of Leah and Jon as they get placed as partners on an FBI investigation in the town of Galveston, Texas. Along the way of their case, they both come to realize that they may have more between them than just a job. Feelings come into play as they track down a killer with a habit of using rattlesnake venom as a weapon.
It's a breath of fresh air to step into a novel based in a town that I grew up around for family vacations. While reading, it was easy to imagine the story unfolding before my eyes in my childhood stomping ground. Mills does a great job of drawing out the town with its new lives in it.
Oh and don't you dare forget that romance! Typically, romance novels can get a bit childish. Leah and Jon are amazingly grown-up about their budding relationship even with having to deal with their pasts at the same time. Not to mention, the stress the case alone puts on them during this time.
Fatal Strike is a novel for bedside tables. Or coffee tables. In other words, everyone should own this novel. It's brilliant, fast-paced, and the personification of page-turning. Easily is four out of five stars for me.

Fatal Strike by DiAnn Mills is another example of why she is a bestselling author. Oh My! I am not sure where to start- how she literally made me gasp at one point or one of the best sniper/ officer partnerships I have read in a while. Both Leah and John are snipers and have a past that they are trying to overcome.

It was a great view into the life of a child sibling of adoption and special needs. She was dealing with her action and feelings from that and trying to make up for it. I loved that she was so good at her job. You cannot help but like her.

John is a great character. I loved their banter in the car. And their honesty about working together. It was a slow building romance that fit them perfectly.

The main storyline is that they are trying to find out who has killed a judge, lawyer and police officer. A gang is taking credit for it. Who is the killer and why are they killing them. Admittedly you will probably figure out who the main killer is at the end. But don’t be disappointed. DiAnn still has some surprises in store for you when you least expect it.

I really enjoyed how the author took us through the research and interviews and the brainstorming of who, what and why was this happening. You were right along with the characters trying to figure it out. There were several characters that you just were not sure about. Why were they lying or withholding info. There are several characters in the book only a couple were hard for me to keep up with.

From a deeper perspective DiAnn beautifully and heartbreakingly displays the love of a parent to their child. How far will they go to help their child? And will they love them no matter what they do. On a different note, both of the lead characters are learning about God and whether to trust Him.

I highly recommend the book. I really think you will enjoy the characters and their banter and budding relationship. And if you enjoy suspense you are going to love it. Clear your calendar.

Sexual content - 1 kissing
Violence - the book opens with the snipers called to help with a scene. There are a few deaths, kidnappings,

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Mills has crafted another good FBI investigation novel with scenes of suspense throughout. The plot is a bit complex with a number of people involved and the relationships between them quite entangled. There was a focus on the budding romance between the FBI agents Jon and Leah as they worked a case together. It seemed to move fast and I would have liked some obstacles to the romance having to be overcome along the way.

The aspect of the novel I liked most was a side issue. Both FBI agents had personal fears they had to overcome. Both were forced into separate situations where they had to fight the fear in a dramatic way. I also liked that Leah had to face her alienation from her family.

This is a good novel for readers who enjoy lots of FBI agent action, a good dose of romance and the subtle message of needing a relationship with God.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Partners in Crime Virtual Book Tours. My comments are an honest and independent review.

Loved this new story by DiAnn Mills!!
I have read every one of this author's books because her style of writing!!
DiAnn's books are just superfab!! I highly recommend her.
She fascinates me with this new set of characters named Jon and Liesel.
I love it that they are no nonesense snipers that know how to get the job done.
I love that they keep no secrets and discuss everything.
Oh and did I mention they have great chemistry together?
If you love suspenseful books then this is sure to satisfy your appetite. It did mine! This is a book that has of course suspense, mystery and romance all rolled into one.

"Fatal Strike" is a Christian romantic suspense. The main characters were likable and determined to track down the truth. Though they'd never worked together before, the two FBI agents got along well and made a good team. The hero respected the heroine's skill and wasn't put off by her reputation. Each allowed the other to take the lead if the other was better suited to handle the person or situation. They fell in love as they got to know each other.

The author maintained a delicate balance between making little forward progress while having them constantly following up leads. Their main lead was a young man that was witnessed dumping the body but whom everyone swears wouldn't have killed the man. And it seemed like everyone was hiding some secret that impacted the case. The high suspense came from the continuing attacks on the future targets of the gang.

Both main characters had some questions about how God works. They objected to how the priest seemed more devoted to trying to save those in gangs than helping the FBI pursue justice. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense novel.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Fatal Strike has was one of the most inventive plots I've seen in a while. Snake venom as the murder weapon (and that's not a spoiler)!

When you add in a family in tatters, two agents falling in love and greatest fears being faced, you have yourself a page-turner.

DiAnn Mills says to "expect and adnveture" and this certainly was a wild one. I particularly liked not being able to figure out who the baddie was, until very near the end.

This was definitely a grab-you-and-don't-let-go kinda book for me. The vast majority of the book was focused solely on the investigation into the murders. This made for a very intense book, but it also left the romance feeling almost a little flat/forced.
I had SO many thoughts/ideas about who was behind the murders, but how it actually played out was definitely surprising.
This was my first DiAnn Mills book, but will not be my last.
