There’s a crush, and then there are the type of feelings that Croft Cruisie evokes from a person.

He’s everything that any straight woman would want: tall, handsome, charismatic, muscular, and sweet.

At least, Carmichael thought he was sweet, until he brings another woman to the gym she owns with her brother, on the night that’s to be their first date, and lets her know in a quick and painful, non-verbal way that her feelings are not reciprocated.

Fast forward six months, and she’s still trying to move on from the rejection.

It doesn’t help that the jerk moves in next door to her, and that she has to see him workout shirtless every single day.
How can a woman get over a silly crush when that silly crush won’t so much as give her room to breathe?

***

Croft doesn’t know what happened.

One day he was supposed to go on a date with the girl that wouldn’t leave his thoughts for even a second, and the next she’s avoiding him like the plague.

No matter how hard he tries—and admittedly, it isn’t all that hard due to the biggest case of his career taking over his life—he can’t get her to tell him what he did wrong. She refuses to give him a second chance.

At least, not until he’s nearly killed in front of the courthouse, that is.

The moment he sees his chance, he pounces. Or, more literally, he limps.

But the limping is what draws Carmichael in. The Southern charm that was instilled in him since birth will be what gets her to stay.

That’s his plan, anyway.

Funny thing about plans… they never seem to work out how you expect them to.

This was a slow burn type of read and these characters had my heart in palpitations. Misunderstandings and assumptions are never my cup of tea, but when Croft brought another woman to Carmichael's gym, on the night of their much anticipated first date, I got where she was coming from. I'd probably arrive at the same conclusion too. However, I wouldn't wait SIX MONTHS to get answers!!

Once these two had things sorted, their relationship evolved into something beautiful. Croft was all strength and intelligence and dominance, but Carmichael was no slouch. She gave as good as she got, she loved just as hard, and together they built something that could last.

I loved getting to see all of the other characters again and how they played a role in this romance, even a small one. I'm definitely looking forward to Shultz's story, which comes next year, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these people will be making another appearance.

I'm a huge fan of this author's work and every story is a winner for me!

Our amazing hero thinking of his best friend wife.. heroine’s sister in law..

“I didn’t know what it was about pregnant women that always flipped my switch, but seriously. I’d never been attracted to Camryn in that way, but seeing her like that? I felt my dick twitch.
Which was really quite weird seeing as I’d always seen her as my little sister.”

While the book was good IMO there were a few things that I was not too happy about..the major being the hero thinking that the heroine's BFF who was heavily pregnant gave his Dick a flag raise!!!no bueno in my reading universe! I'm not sure I liked him much after that plus he was clueless as to why the heroine stood him up for their first date...not impressed by him...the chemistry to me was off with this couple.
My fav book and couple remains the first book of this series.
Like my favorite snack treat praline pecans..LLV will write and I will read.

I am such an idiot. I saw a new LLV book and dove into it without thought, I just assumed it would be part of the current series, it isn't. Which isn't a bad thing, just gah I haven't read the book before it and I don't have time to read that first, but I wish I could. Luckily for me I know I can read all these as standalones I just don't wanna!!! (Yeah I totally sound like a toddler, but I'll own it)

So, I read this book and I know this is going to sound like a complaint but the thing I love about it was that it was really predictable. It was super obvious who was causing Carmichael and Croft all kinds of drama. It wasn't obvious why and to be honest I didn't really care why. I was just there for what was going to happen next

I was kind of annoyed that it took these two so long to get together. I prefer my LLV novels more insta with OTT heroes but that isn't this series. I liked Carmichael a lot, especially with the dog fostering. I could kind of take or leave Croft but I didn't dislike him, I just wanted more growling, possessive caveman.

Overall, it was a solid 4 star read and now I will wait for the next book in the series I am currently reading and check my titles before jumping in so I can read them in their proper order. Toodles.

Quit Bein' Ugly brings us book 3 and the last book in Lani's The Southern Gentleman series. We've all been so excited to read Croft and Carmichael's story and it was everything and then some.

Carmichael is a women's woman. She's sweet, hard working and gorgeous without really knowing her beauty. Boy was I pissed for her about Croft and I think it's easy to relate to her and that situation because most of us have been there. I love that she held a grudge and didn't let up until she had an apology. I enjoyed the hell out of her spitfire nature and just how independent she was. All fire and sweet she really is a great character.

Croft, sweet mercy I wanted to throttle him for being so oblivious. He didn't see anyone except Carmichael but that came with its faults.. like not realising how frustrating it must be for Mikey to see all the Karens throwing themselves at him. The funny thing is he really had no clue which is both cute and frustrating. I loved him though... his job is serious but his personality is all sweet and teasing. I loved the way he loved Mikey and really made the effort to keep her.

These two are just the sweetest. Their journey has a little suspense and a little action but for the most part its all Mikey and Croft and their hilarious relationship blossoming into something so special. It's swoony and sweet and all kinds of delicious. You've got a tonne of great side characters and their huge personalities bringing all kinds of laughter, banter and bickering to the story. The chemistry is palpable between them all. Their journey is seamless and that ending really was just perfect. As a whole this story is an easy read with all the good feels. In Lani fashion she brings us great characters and a story that consumes us from page one until the very end. I'm sad to see this series finish but I'm excited about what the future is bringing too!.

4.25 'Mine' Stars

Wow...These GENTLEMEN, and their complete alpha male obliviousness just delight me to no end. Okay, this is literally the end of the series, but I'm sure we'll get plenty more of this world, and I'm. Here. For. IT!!!

If the other gentlemen were clueless to their 'ones', Croft is the king of that parade, because man, oh man, for an experienced and savvy lawyer, he sure does screw up over and over again, so much so, that I just wanted to slap him upside his head every time he, but in his naivety about his love life is compensated by his sweet words and gestures further on.

The lightless, the brotherly and sisterly vibe, the humor - so many LMAOs! - the relative situations, and the romance, once again stole my heart, and enraptured me from the first page.

Croft was mine, just like I was his.

You’re my sun and my moon. The stars in my sky. The freakin’ weights to my barbell. I choose you to be my wife.”

I'm on the fence about this author.
I really want to like her work more, especially as she writes so much and I read so much.
But... I find her a bit of a jumbled mess. I think it may be a case of its me not you as she seems very popular but I find there is a lack of scene setting, detail and I am left wondering if I missed something at some points.

On the positive the Hero is not a man-whore type.
He is super busy with his job and a bit oblivious.
The other woman drama mentioned in the blurb as 'and lets her know in a quick and painful, non-verbal way that her feelings are not reciprocated.' was him being oblivious.
She is due to go on a date with him that evening, he attends the gym with another woman who the heroine feels is all over him.
Later the heroine says she can see he wasn't open to other woman.
The other woman is a work colleague who wants more, the Hero is showing her around the city.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
HEA.

Carmichael was so excited cause she finally had a date with her long time crush Croft Cruise. But when she was busy working out at the gym she and her brother owned, and Croft walked in with another women, who by the way was hanging all over him, she just knew that he didn’t feel the same way about her. So she left.

Now its six months later and she is doing everything she can to avoid him but kind of hard when he lives next door and he works out at her gym. And then someone breaks into her house and on top of that Croft is almost killed. And she has second thoughts about not telling him how she feels ☹

Croft Cruise has been attracted to Carmichael for so long and when she finally agreed to a date he was in heaven. But then she just never showed up, not to mention that he didn’t remember they had a date until late into the evening due to a case he was working. But that’s besides the point, now she is just avoiding him. So when he almost gets killed and she rushes to his side, he does everything he can to keep her right where he wants her, by his side. But things are not that easy as it seems there is still danger out as they don’t know who broke into Carmichael’s house and who shot Croft… ☹

Lots of drama, and action and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. Croft was just to hot in his suits and that Southern Charm. And Carmichael didn’t let anyone walk all over her either but she had a soft heart 😊 ♥ I’m a bit sad there wont be more of this series as it was definitely amazing 😊 ♥

I'm bummed that Quit Bein' Ugly is the last book in the Southern Gentleman series because I have LOVED this series. But, like the previous 2 books in this series, this was a great read!

First, let me say that if I were Carmichael, I would have said something or asked about the other women without waiting 6 months. Seriously! Maybe its because I'm getting old and I can no longer tolerate the miscommunication angle. Either way, I wanted to knock their heads together! And how could he NOT get it?! Young idiots!

Now, once they get past this (freaking MONTHS later), this is a classic LLV couple-they compliment each other and they both love hard. One thing I always love about LLV books is that the couple, once established, is strong! Croft was kind of clueless at times, which was both endearing and aggravating. Carmichael is strong, driven, and smart, which is always appreciated in a heroine.

If you like a slower burn, brother's best friend romance with some laughs and plenty of steam, Quit Bein' Ugly is a great pick. While you don't have to read the previous 2 books, I highly recommend both!

Carmichael was thrilled to finally get the date she had been longing for when her long time crush Croft Cruise finally asked her out. The day of their date though Croft made a mistake that had Mikey staying out of his path and not in any mood to forgive and forget. Six months later Croft still doesn't know what happened with Mikey and when Croft ends up needing someone to help him out, grudgingly his next door Mikey is the obvious choice. Can Mikey keep her hurt tamped down or will she finally get her chance with Croft?

I am saddened to see this series come to an end because it was so delightful. I was anxious to see where Mikey's story would go and was thrilled by this one unraveled. Mikey is a handful and Croft is trying to wrap his head around what went wrong. I thought it was entertaining that on one hand Croft is this alpha male and on the other he is completely oblivious. Another wonderful read by this author.

Croft and Carmichael had good chemistry in book two so I was very interested in how their relationship would play out. Book three is bittersweet because it was really nice to experience Croft and Carmichael as a couple but it marked the end of this series.

The plot kept me entertained. Though it started out slow and with a lot of avoidable miscommunication, external conflict shook things up and it picked up in both pace and intensity. The intimate scenes were hot and our main characters had a great connection.

Brother’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes so this hit all the right buttons for me. All in all a great way to end the series.

Another good one from Lani Lynn Vale! I always gooble her books up.
Again a quick paced story with a bit of sexy and some action. That is what I love about this authors books. I can dive in and get lost.
I really liked our heroine she was a spitfire and head over heels for hero but hiding it.
Our hero was crazy for her.
A misunderstanding and no communication kept them apart and wasted so much time. BUT once together and figured out (after one of them is shot) I got my love story!
Really looking forward to the new series she revealed.

Carmichael's had a crush on Croft, her brother's friend forever now. Then the night of their first date, the man brings another woman, a woman who's all over him, to the gym she and her brother own. Now Carmichael knows for sure her crush isn't reciprocated, and she's done. No more crush (or so she says to herself), no more hanging around with him, around him. So she avoids him for months, mourning what could have been.

Croft is completely clueless why the woman he has had feelings for for so long is avoiding him. Yeah so he may have kinda forgotten about their first date the night his case went crazy on him, and he didn't try to contact her about it for hours. And he may not have tried very hard since then to figure out what went wrong. But it's been months and he's done with letting her avoid him. When he gets injured and Carmichael finds out, though, will it be another reason for her to avoid him? Or will it actually be the catalyst to finally bring them together?

I loved this couple's slow burn story. Carmichael is my favorite kind of heroine - strong, sweet, feisty and down to earth. Her man Croft is equally sweet, if not completely oblivious, and determined to woo his love. Thank God he had a good talking to, though, otherwise he never would have realized how he had so completely fucked up with Mikey. When they finally got on the same page though, damn, they were on fire! Though this is the only story in this series that I've read, I loved it and it made me eager to go back and read the first two in the series.

This was an easy 5-star read for me! I just love this author so much.

"Croft was an enigma to me. A beautiful trophy to look at, but never to touch."

Carmichael Stone was hugely disappointed in Croft Cruisie and the date that never happened. These days, she avoids him like the plague and never fails to show him that she dislikes him and has no desire to be anywhere near him. Although..that's not quite true!

"Oh, what I wouldn't give to have her with me tonight. And tomorrow. Possibly all the days after that."

Croft can't understand what exactly he did wrong. He's been taken with Carmichael since the moment he laid eyes on her but between her hostility and his heavy caseload, it's been almost impossible to make any headway with her. Until a life-threatening situation has her coming to his aide. As danger starts to heat up around them, so does the chemistry between Carmichael and Croft.

This author's books are just the right length and are always an addictive melange of sexy, feel-good, and drama. This story was no different. There was slow-burn attraction between the main characters, great camaraderie and banter with their friends, and a suspense element woven through the storyline. Carmichael is feisty, confident and stubborn. Croft was a little clueless where she was concerned, but I loved how enamoured he was with her, and how direct he was about his desire for her. A fab read and I'm so looking forward to this author's next book!

This might be my favorite in the series so far. It was filled with adventures at a CrossFit gym, a conniving b*tch, bloody noses, a nasty bullet wound, pepperoni pizza, & hot lovin’!

*****SLIGHTLY-SPOILER-ISH*****

Croft… I admit, I was annoyed with him in the beginning. He came across as a douchebag & like the other Heroes in this series, oblivious to his woman’s feelings. I can’t believe he didn’t know why Carmichael was upset with him or how she might feel about Karen horning in on him. I was totally not keen with his comments on Camryn either… #NuffSaid. He definitely got more swoon-worthy as time went on though & seeing his love for Carmichael shine through, made everything so much better. And his dad’s advice on how to make things up to Carmichael… #priceless.

Carmichael… She was my favorite character in the book. I loved her name & how physically strong she was (hell, she almost popped Alfie like a watermelon). She wasn’t afraid to flex it (with food &/or muscles) & wore those booty shorts like a boss! And that bread dough belly line in the epilogue #Ouch but hilarious.

Really wish I could’ve popped Karen in the boob on more than one occasion. That witch was nasty. As for Nivea, Schultz’s sister… I wanted to witness her go down so badly! She bugged me so much in the last book!!

I adored the wedding vows that were exchanged between Croft & Carmichael. They were so creative & were absolutely PERFECT for them! #swolemates #weightstomybarbell

Not sure if they’ll be a spin-off for this series but if so, I truly hope there'll be a happily ever after for Schultz! :)

I love this series! It starts w/ Raleigh & Ezra, then Camryn & Flint, then Flint's sister, Carmichael & Raleigh's brother, Croft. I think I got all the relationships correct there. LOL Anyway, I love the family & friendship dynamics & each story has a bit of suspense to it, as well.

Croft & Carmichael have had a thing for each other for years, but when Croft finally asks her out, stuff happens that messes it up before it can begin. When he FINALLY comes up for air from the really big case that's taken over his life for six months, Croft realizes he messed up ROYALLY & sets his mind to apologizing to Carmichael & getting them back where they need to be.

And then he gets shot. And while that sucks, it does have the bonus side effect of opening Carmichael's eyes to how much time they've wasted. And then their relationship can truly get on track. They're super sweet & fun together, there's lots of banter & humor & I just adore them!!

I'm sad this series is over, but at the same time, I love how all LLV series are connected, so I'm looking forward to the Crossfit series next year!

This was a cute story that was quite enjoyable. Carmichael and Croft have had a complicated relationship where attraction and lust rain free but, the two of them just can't get their act together when it comes to their being together both mess up yet do not clear the air until one fateful day make them take a closer look at what could be.

Carmichael is a sassy and independent woman who is full of fire sass and determination and has a quick temper that tends to get her in trouble a bit.

Croft we found to be fun and flirty and a lot of fun we just found him to be an all-around sweetheart. He may seem to be quiet and gentle but, he can be fierce and possessive, and when it comes to Carmichael all bets are off.

Overall a fun read where friends turn lovers and where their passion runs free and their chemistry is off the charts. From the moment you started turning the pages the drama reigned free and continued that way to the very end. We really enjoyed it, and we enjoyed the characters in this series, and we are sorry to see it end.

I’ve read and really enjoyed the first two books in this series, so had to sign up right away for this one. I liked a lot about this one. The characters were real. They definitely liked each other for real reasons and liked each other as real people. Another thing I really liked about this was how it portrayed being a teacher, especially a substitute, realistically. Working with kids is hard. Whether they are the “good” kids or the “bad” kids. But it is so rewarding even when it is hard. There were definitely very steamy scenes. As usual I love how the author gets our characters together and the final drama is something they deal with together. Sometimes that is nice to have in a romance as well. Another fun book from Lani Lynn Vale.

This was a very quick book. Not sure what qualifies as novella but this is somewhere in between. So with so short a book comes not enough. Not enough romance, not enough backstory...etc.

The heroine and perhaps even all secondary characters are busy. Always involved in this and that. It was hard to keep up and work out their primary role in life.

The heroines teaching gig sounds horrible. The self talk wasn’t much better. As far as the other characters go, they all think she is beautiful but the heroine doesn’t have a high regard for herself.

The hero is a lawyer. Nuff said! Kidding!! He is oblivious to how he offended the heroine after standing her up or at least wayyy delaying their first date. Also how his relationship with a new co worker would be perceived.

Overall I liked the book but it wasn’t one of the better ones from LLV🙃

This is book 3 in the series but it easily stands alone. In addition the previous couples from the first two books are featured in this story

This story stars Carmichael aka Mikey or Mike who is Flint's sister and co-owner of the Crossfit gym they own. Flint's best friend is Croft, a lawyer and his sister, Raleigh works and is good friends with Carmichael.

They have known each other two years but six months before they supposed to go on a date but it never happened because Croft treated her really badly and never contacted her again for a makeup date. That is until Carmichael ends having some trouble at her job at the high school.

This is my absolute favorite in the series. It was pure fun and filled with romance and awesome main characters that really like each other but haven't been able to figure it out together up to this point.

I also adored seeing the previous couples in the book as they spend time with Croft and Carmichael. This was a wonderful second chance at romance story with a touch of love/hate on Carmichael's side and a man who has to try and make it up to her.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

All the warm and fuzzy love feels….

Croft and Carmichael’s bumpy road to romance was full of humour, steam and, of all things, injuries… He was her brother’s best friend. She was his best friend’s sister. They shared a love of CrossFit and a mutual attraction that barely had an opportunity to spark before it fizzled in misunderstanding. Six months on, the flame was still there and it was about to be re-lit…

There was never a dull moment as random acts of crime became violent and Croft and Carmichael bonded during recovery. Their interactions with each other, with their friends and family, were what makes life so fun and interesting. And sweet. Honest conversations meant clearing the air to let their relationship grow. Thank goodness! For professionals – he’s a lawyer, she a teacher – I wanted to grab them (gently of course) by their scruffs and shake them a bit. Talk people!

The drama was high, the laughter loud and the love so, so sweet. Insert swoony sigh right here…

Written with Ms. Vale's usual blend of sweet, sexy, and suspense, this third installment in The Southern Gentleman series is another winner that put a smile on my face from the very start. In this slow-burn romance of two people with a long-simmering attraction to each other, an attraction that has led to misunderstandings and frustrations, it will take danger and a bit of play-acting to finally get them on the same page. With each turn of the page readers will find themselves rooting for these two, through every up and down, every step of the way in a tale that races to a satisfying conclusion.

This pair has been a part of The Southern Gentleman world from the very first installment and I enjoyed the little glimpses we got of them throughout the series thus far, loved seeing the attraction and flirtatiousness start, and couldn't wait to see everything come to a head. And boy, did everything quickly combust between them in this story! From the date that didn't turn out to be a date, to A LOT of stupidity courtesy of Croft early on, to his relying on her caretaking nature when he's wounded, theirs is a story that's never boring. Croft is the typical Vale hero as he's a bit clueless when it comes to women, but oh so good in many other ways. He's a man dedicated to his job, a man who's oblivious to all the women throwing themselves at him because he too is in love...with Carmichael. He's a strong protector too, an Alpha male who (once he admits how important Carmichael is to him) goes after her wholeheartedly with a delightful apology and moments of sexy amends. Despite his flaws he's a delicious hero and his wooing of Carmichael was both joyous and scorching, warming my heart while making me blush. Carmichael's been attracted to Croft for a long time as he's her brother's best friend, for her there is no other. Just when she thinks they'll be having their first date though, everything implodes and she's left trying to ignore him and move on. That's hard to do when he's injured and needs someone to care for him. Them being neighbors makes her the perfect nurse and gives him the time he needs to make amends and woo her as he wishes he'd done in the first place. Their time together is full of heart, lots of scorching interactions, as well as a bit of suspense to keep reader's hearts pumping. Through it all Carmichael is a wonderful heroine, one you can easily see as a friend. She's strong, sassy, and gives as good as she gets...particularly through Croft's "recovery" which added an exhilarating bit of sexual tension to their already scorching connection.

On a whole this was a quick read with a satisfying romance. The main couple was likable, with moments that sometimes frustrated me, but the scenes of forgiveness more than made up for my frustrations. I loved the slow-burn between these two and their delightful journey to HEA that had me rooting for them every step of the way. I also loved the glimpses of past couples and their subtle matchmaking that reflects a sense of family that permeates many of Ms. Vale's works. Though this story can stand strongly on its own it's a wonderful addition to the series that I recommend to others.

WARNING, there might a few spoilers in this review, NOT big ones, but some.

We met Croft and Carmichael in "Hissy Fit" that features Croft's sister. You see them more in "Lord Have Mercy" that features Carmichael's brother Flint. As you read "Lord Have Mercy", you learn of Carmichael's crush on Croft. It's sweet and Croft appears a little clueless of Mikey's crush during this time. It is exciting to see them fall in "Quit Bein' Ugly."
Let's get down to why I gave this 5 stars.
1. This book has everything that an Lani book typically has. It draws you in, it gives you a love story, some angst, some drama, and (hello) a HAWT Alpha guy that falls for the strong, bad booty girl. (look at me keeping the review clean :))
2. Carmichael is someone I aspire to be. Seriously. She is strong, athletic, intelligent, and just all around a woman I want to be bestfriends with. Nevermind that I'm almost old enough to be her mom, but I really just wanted to keep reading more about her and how she was going to keep being so awesome. I also have no doubt that she could have kicked some serious booty if Croft and Flint would have let her.
3. Carmichael made him WORK for it. Croft had an opportunity when he brought Karen to the gym the day of their date to explain the situation and in true man fashion, he didn't. He also should have sent her a better text (AFTER HE FORGOT AND SAW IT WAS LATE) than "are you coming over?" As a result of his man brain, he had to work hard to even find out why she ghosted him. That's one of the reason's I really like reading Lani's books. The women are all strong and independent. Mikey doesn't NEED Croft, but she wants him and loves him.
4. Carmichael helping Croft after he was shot gave Croft the "in" he needed to get his head out of his butt and apologize. This is also when Croft goes Alpha on Carmichael and tells her that they are done messing around. When they are finally thrown together, it's just pure magic.

Their love story isn't without some challenges, public displays of affection (Wink Wink), and few bad guys. Overall this is book is a good one to read next. Admittedly this series one of my favorite s and I will be adding this series to my paperback collection soon.

"I loved this series! Croft and Carmichael might just be my favorite couple in the series.

Carmichael is a teacher at the local school and co-owns a CrossFit gym with her brother Flynn. Croft is a partner in a local law firm, and is involved in one of the biggest cases of his career. They both have a feelings for each other for years, with a misunderstanding, their first date never happens.

Once they clear the air, the romance begins. Their chemistry is off the charts hot, with lots of funny moments. As with all LLV books, there is always a suspenseful twist to her stories and characters. These two were meant to be!

"This is the first I've read in this series, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how I missed the first two, something I will be rectifying for sure.
Croft and Carmichael have had their eyes on each other for quite some time, though neither of them acted on it. Just when things were looking like maybe they would, some Karen shows up. The missed signals, the way Croft was clueless (on more than one account), the snarky inner dialog, over zealous coworkers, and the family ties that come with no filter all made this a read that leaves you with a smile on your face. Too bad it's the last one." ~Shirley

4 When Things Don’t Go As Planned Stars!!

To say that things don’t go as planned for Croft and Carmichael is putting it very mildly… starting with what was supposed to be their true “first date.” Croft being the typical man doesn’t think twice about having a co-worker go with him to CrossFit the night he finally has a date with Carmichael…. Well as you can imagine, Carmichael was less than thrilled and so the relationship that could’ve been gets squashed…. Or does it?

I loved reading this last book in this series. It has the usual twists and turns that I thoroughly love about LLV’s writing while also mixing in a deliciously wild chemistry that just can’t be denied between our H/h. Their witty and sometimes snarky conversations had me laughing out loud at some chapters because Carmichael isn’t going to make it easy on this man…. Until one event changes the trajectory their friendship is on!

I’m sad to see this series end, but LLV has definitely wrapped everything up and I’m hopeful that someday we’ll see this crew in a future book and/or series just to get a little check-in!

Quit Bein' Ugly is the book 3 & the last book in the Southern Gentleman series by Lani Lynn Vale. This is Croft and Carmichael's story. We met these two a little bit in the two previous books and know from in "Lord Have Mercy", we learned about Carmichael's crush on Croft. Croft in LHM didn't seem to really have much of a clue about her sweetheart of a crush. Now in "Quit Bein Ugly" , we get to watch Croft fall head over heels for Carmichael while Carmichael's crush deepens to love. The journey these two take is a typical LLV read full of action, excitement, humor, angst, secrets, twists, turns, some mystery/suspense, intrigue, passion, love with sexy Alpha lead, Sassy beauty Heroine and cast of interesting and exciting secondary characters. It makes for a great read. I was sad the Southern Gentleman series seems to be over. I do look forward to whatever else is next by this author.

My Rating: 4.8 stars **********

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A book that I had been a little afraid to read because I hadn't been too attached to Croft in the previous books (too "beige") but in the end, I loved seeing it with its own book !!
And for once, it was almost a slowburn with a huge misunderstanding that creates a whole lot of tension as we like it =)
In short, a book that ends a series that I devoured from start to finish ! It's not my favorite by this author but if you're looking for sexy and light romances with a lot of drama, I recommend it !
