Legacy of Lies is book one in the Legacy of Lies series by Tara Leigh. This is the continuation of Jolie and Tripp’s story from the prequel, Throne of Lies. I just finished this book a few minutes ago and wanted to try to write this while my emotions are running rampant. Because they really are. I’m a mushy, crazy, emotional bunch of goo right now. This book, both of them, have been the focus of my every thought the last couple of days. That’s how amazing they are!
Ten years has passed since the ending of the prequel, Throne of Lies. Jolie is twenty-seven and Tripp almost thirty. Jolie has spent the last ten years as a high fashion model. Nina helped her to launch her career. Now Jolie is wanting to slow things down a bit and launch a jewelry line of her own. She’s come back to New York to do so. She wants to be nearer to Nina as well.
Tripp has made his own fortune on his own fighting against people just like his father, people that steal from others. He’s finally decided to come back to New York to face his own demons, to find his own redemption.
Both Tripp and Jolie were fueled by anger and hurt at how things had ended between them ten years ago. Both of them led productive lives but neither had ever been able to commit to any type of relationship with any one else. Because their hearts still only belonged to each other. As much as they wanted to deny it, they had never really let each other go.
“You have to figure out a way to forgive the mistakes of the past so you can build a future together.”
Chance circumstances and a case of mistaken identity brings Jolie and Trip back together again. There is such a fine line between hate and love. These two straddle that line, not really knowing if what they feel is anger or love. They think they can have each other and finally get closure and walk away but I don’t think it took long for either of them to realize that they couldn’t, would never, be able to walk away from each other again.
“So, you’re finally ready to admit there’s an us?”
“There’s always been an us.”
“This girl. She held my heart in her hands. A heart that beat for her, belonged to her. A heart that had only ever been hers.”
These two have so much to straighten out, though. Ten years of anger and heart break. Ten years they could have been together if everyone would have left them alone when they were kids. There were also secrets and lies to overcome. Was there any chance that they had the strength this time to tune everything else out, forgive and forget, and grab for a second chance at a future together?
This book! The minute I started reading the prequel, my thoughts have been consumed by Tripp and Jolie. Tara Leigh’s characters drew me in and have not loosened their grasp on me one little bit. She is such a beautiful writer. Her books amaze me! Tripp and Jolie had suffered so much at the hands of others. I ached for them to get their chance at happiness. It was evident from the start that that happiness could only be found in each other.
All I can say in closing is “Read This Series!” It’s breathtaking, heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. It will steal your breath away and also make you swoon. These are characters you will never forget. Thank you, Tara Leigh, for sharing them with us.

I haven't read a lot of books from Tara Leigh but I can easily say this is one of her best books so far!I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading!Legacy of Lies is full of emotions, it's intense,passionate and fast paced.
Jolie and Tripp stole my heart, this is for sure an epic love.It has everything I wanted and even more.There is hurt,passion,desperation,regret,love and intensity between these two.
Tara Leigh delivers a story with suspense, a heavy romance, a brilliant plot and beautiful writing.

I so enjoyed this book. It had a awesome storyline and I loved both tripp and jolie. This is a second chance love story,it's full passion, betrayal,deception and secrets. Tripp and jolie had a young love full of hopes and dreams ,but that all changed when their fathers who were business partners are exposed in a ponzi scheme and not only were their lives of priviledge and wealth be gone,but their new found love will be over as well. Both went their separate ways and tried to forget about each other,but fate has different plans for these two. When these two meet again all the old feelings that they thought were buried are coming back and what started out for Tripp as revenge soon becomes more ,and when the truth comes out not only will these two lovers hearts heal and find love once more,but the dreams they had as young lovers will come full circle and they will have their happily ever after! Awesome read,Tara Leigh is a wonderful writer and characters are strong and deeply layered.

I CANNOT EVEN. This story! I couldn't put it down. I was CONSUMED with Tripp and Jolie's second chance romance! It's suspenseful! It's emotional! God I even had tears several times! It's sexy! It's EVERYTHING!!!! Never have I met a guy like Tripp!!! OMG, I'm so in LOOOOOOVE! A new fave book boyfriend! A new fave story! A new fave author. Her writing is fucking magic. I don't even know what the hell to say. Going to have a SERIOUS book hangover. God damn, why did this book have to end?!

LEGACY OF LIES: Is the first book within the ‘Legacy of Lies’ series by Tara Leigh. This is the follow up from the prequel ‘Throne of Lies’ where we’re first introduced to Jolie & Tripp, to understand this it is recommend that you start their story right from the beginning.
Ten years have gone by since Jolie & Tripp clapped eyes on each other, now Jolie is twenty-seven, things haven't been easy for her, and Tripp is nearing thirty, both have well paying jobs, Jolie a world class model jet setting all over Europe and embarking on a new jewelry line, and Tripp puts his past to use investigating fraud, or financial crimes like embezzlement. Now both are in New York again for good. They may not of seen each other but their love even though disguised under so much hurt and betrayal still simmered away in the background.
This was the man who had broken up with me the day after I gave him my virginity.
The day after we confessed our love for each other. An he'd done it with a text message.
A. Fucking. Text.
Their reconnection though unorthodox garnered all the feels, Tripp yet again claiming my heart.
Theirs is not a easy road back to each other though. One kissed reignited all their feelings.
Tripp and I had shared a kiss, a kiss that fused past with present.
A spine-tingling, stomach-flipping, steal-the-oxygen-from-my-lungs-kiss.
But a heartbreaking lie stood between them which could either tether them together forever or it could destroy them in the process.
The only reason why this didn’t get a 5 star rating for me was because it felt like the last chapter as it was wrapping things up felt rushed, before we knew it the ‘Epilogue’ is staring us in the face, since I was in that moment and loving all the nail biting conclusions I wanted to stay in that scene and read about the arrest and the downfall that occurred right after, their adjustment, the struggles. But other than that I really enjoyed this series. Now I’m begging that we get to read her friend Eve’s full heartbreaking story.
But all in all this series.this book, was So GOOD!! All the FEELS!! All the ANGST!! After how things ended in the previous book like others before me I couldn't wait to get my hands on this release day. And that same day I devoured it, couldn't put it down..

Tara Leigh, a new to-me author, has astounded me with this series.
Legacy of Lies continues the epic love story between Jolie Chapman and Remington “Tripp” Montgomery III. It started as passionate, an envious fairytale, only to meet a tragic ending when they were both young. I loved the prequel, but beyond adored this sequel.
“You have to figure out a way to forgive the mistakes of the past so you can build a future together.”
Ten years have passed since Jolie and Tripp’s bitter and heart-wrenching separation. And both are returning to where it began - New York.
Being a fashion model was rewarding, but Jolie’s ready to settle down with a newfound jewellery business closer to her step-mother, Nina. Meanwhile, Tripp’s been earning his own wealth and status as a quiet partner to RiskTaker, a company dedicated to catching frauds and thieves. Now, he’s returning for redemption.
“Tell me, Jolie,” I growled, wishing my damn conscience would shut the fuck up. “Tell me you’ve missed this. Tell me you want this as much as I do. Tell me you want me. Tell me you want us.”
Tripp’s become a moodier and broodier asshole, making him irresistible and appealing. However, upon reuniting with Jolie that facade begins to crumble. Beneath the jaded man still remains someone flirtatious and caring.
And despite being filled with a burning combination of anger and heartache, the fiery passion beneath Jolie and Tripp hasn’t diminished once even as years disappeared. Neither moved on or settled with others and neither found themselves searching for something different.

4.5 stars and all the feels!
Wow! This book! It broke my heart, it healed my heart, I cried, I laughed, I swooned, I fell in love and I felt everything! The breathtaking conclusion to Tripp and Jolie’s story that began in Throne of Lies was everything I was hoping for, and I loved it!
I’m a sucker for a second-chance-romance, and after that devastating ending to the prequel novella, I was so excited to dive into this one. It’s set ten years after Throne of Lies, and both Tripp and Jolie find themselves back in New York City – she is a retiring model, and he has become an insanely wealthy businessman, with a company born off the back of the pain of his past. Whereas Jolie is looking to finally settle for the first time in her life, Tripp is back to face his demons and continue his mission of vengeance for all that he has lost.
It’s quite unexpectedly that Tripp and Jolie run into each other again, and it was every bit as intense, exciting and full of heartache as I was expecting. OMG, the feels! It’s clear that they never got over each other, and the pain, longing and love is palpable!
But it’s not an easy reunion. They have a mountain of lies, betrayal, hurt, guilt and grief between them, and it’s going to take a lot of effort for them to unravel it all, all while dealing with the rioting emotion of being back in each other’s lives for the first time in a decade. It’s a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs, and my heart was right there with them as they waded through it all.
There is a particular plot twist in this book that had my gut twisting. It’s something that can usually kill a book for me, and though I’m not happy with it, it adds a fantastic dynamic to the story, ramping up the emotions even more, and I was really impressed with the way it all played out. Beware massive spoiler…
This book is full of feels, with twists and turns, secrets uncovered and hearts on the line. So much grief and anger, and the early interactions in particular had me giggling at all of the angry lusting and teasing going on. It’s realistic, and shows us so much insight to the characters, all they have been going through, and all that they feel being reunited once again. But along with that anger is a whole lot of love. It’s noticeable in every encounter, even when they’re still dealing with their issues.
And as they finally begin to overcome all of those hurdles and find their way back to each other, I love that they are both committed to working through it and fighting for their future together. And fight they do, because there is so much they need to overcome in order to move forward. Secrets and lies from the past are only a part of their battle, and my heart was pounding as the story played out and I revelled in the excitement, emotion and passion of it all.
I loved these characters. The book is written in dual POV so we get right up close and personal with both Jolie and Tripp, and I just adored them both! Tripp especially won my heart as the damaged, betrayed man fighting for the love of his life.

It’s quite unexpectedly that Tripp and Jolie run into each other again, and it was every bit as intense, exciting and full of heartache as I was expecting. OMG, the feels! It’s clear that they never got over each other, and the pain, longing and love is palpable!
“Tell me, Jolie,” I growled, wishing my damn conscience would shut the fuck up. “Tell me you’ve missed this. Tell me you want this as much as I do. Tell me you want me. Tell me you want us.”
But it’s not an easy reunion. They have a mountain of lies, betrayal, hurt, guilt and grief between them, and it’s going to take a lot of effort for them to unravel it all, all while dealing with the rioting emotion of being back in each other’s lives for the first time in a decade. It’s a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs, and my heart was right there with them as they waded through it all.
“You’ve got it wrong. I don’t want to go backwards, Jolie.” I groaned against her mouth, lust tugging at my brainstem. I had tried ignoring her. I had tried forgetting her. I had tried deceiving her. It was about time I tried something different. “I want to fuck you into next week.”
There is a particular plot twist in this book that had my gut twisting. It’s something that can usually kill a book for me, and though I’m not happy with it, it adds a fantastic dynamic to the story, ramping up the emotions even more, and I was really impressed with the way it all played out. Beware massive spoiler…
This book is full of feels, with twists and turns, secrets uncovered and hearts on the line. So much grief and anger, and the early interactions in particular had me giggling at all of the angry lusting and teasing going on. It’s realistic, and shows us so much insight to the characters, all they have been going through, and all that they feel being reunited once again. But along with that anger is a whole lot of love. It’s noticeable in every encounter, even when they’re still dealing with their issues.
“Even when I was trying to hate you, I still loved you. That was the only reason I could hate you—because I loved you so damn much.”
And as they finally begin to overcome all of those hurdles and find their way back to each other, I love that they are both committed to working through it and fighting for their future together. And fight they do, because there is so much they need to overcome in order to move forward. Secrets and lies from the past are only a part of their battle, and my heart was pounding as the story played out and I revelled in the excitement, emotion and passion of it all.
“So, you’re finally ready to admit there’s an us?”
Her breathy laugh, low and quiet, whispered across my lips. “There’s always been an us.”
The truth we were finally willing to admit thickened the air between us, pushing us closer together until not even a breath separated our mouths.
This girl? She held my heart in her hands. A heart that beat for her, belonged to her. A heart that had only ever been hers.
I loved these characters. The book is written in dual POV so we get right up close and personal with both Jolie and Tripp, and I just adored them both! Tripp especially won my heart as the damaged, betrayed man fighting for the love of his life.
“I want to believe the fire between us hasn’t burned us both to ash. That we’ve been tempered by it, forged into steel. I want to own you and be owned by you. And I want to fuck you like you feel the same damn way.”

I loved the setup in Throne of Lies, but loved the conclusion even more! Lingering questions were answered and we see Jolie and Tripp together again. Eeeeep! It was all the things!

Second chance romance AND secret baby!! These tropes are two of my favorites and the execution was amazing! Tara Leigh can write!! Man oh Man, I was impressed by her prose. It’s so crisp and pretty. Her wordsmith skills are stellar! I cannot wait to read more of her words!

Desire was a razor blade, the slice quick and effective.
Pretty good conclusion to this quick duet. The way things planned out I wasn’t quite expecting. I truly loved Jolie and Tripp and their push and pull in this book. They had a lot of history to recover from, and it was fun reading them get through it. All in all a good angsty second chance romance with tons of secrets and lies revealed and uncovered!
Also... Eva needs a book! Does she have a book? That’s a story I’d like to read!!

There! NO Beating around the bush... You need to read this book!
I have a confession to make, I was a tad worried before I started this series. I love love LOVE Tara's books but the other series were about rock stars and all that jazz... it might not seem like a stretch to some but these two series are miles apart. But once I got into Tripp and Jolie's story, I was hooked! (Review of Throne of lies, #0.5)
Legacy Of Lies is a beauty! Yes, it's a contemporary romance but somehow Tara has created a balance between a second chance love story that is a joy on it's own and has elements that is suspenseful, emotional and a true page turner.
So, Tara if you're reading this... I will never understand how you do it but Bravo! Continue to wield your magic on us.

After learning that he was an heir to a throne built on lies at nineteen due to his father's billion dollar ponzi scheme, Tripp Montgomery reinvents himself to never allow people like his father to reign as a thieving king again. For this reason he spent the last decade building his own fortune by exposing embezzlers, thieves and criminals. But what happens when he is reunited with his long lost love and assumptions he made in the past are blown away in light of long lost secrets and betrayals.
Gah!! This story was fantastic. It was intense and riveting and I could not stop reading. I loved how Jolie was sassy and spirited and despite the heartbreaking circumstances of the past, was still able to persevere. Tripp was sexy and pure alpha goodness. If you follow my reviews, you know that second chance romance is my catnip. Something in that sweet sweet angst of lovers reunited after years apart just speaks to me. I gobble it right up. So of course the blurb to this book reeled me in like a moth to a flame.
Admittedly, after finishing the prequel novella to this story, I was left slightly underwhelmed. I was a little nervous that the lack of feeling I had with that story would follow me into this one. Well I'm happy to report that I couldn't have been more wrong.
It's been ten years since Jolie and Tripp were ripped out of their fairytale lives and away from each other by a scandal that rocked both of their families. A lie that that not only shattered the foundation of everything they knew, but imploded what they were to each other. And while it may have been ten years and they both went on with their lives, their past still molded them into who they are today. Neither has forgotten or gotten over the other, but the lies between them are simply too devastating to forgive.
This book brought all of the feels that I had hoped for and more. I loved Tripp's intensity and the way he couldn't help but want the woman he thought no longer wanted him. Their connection was instant when they were just kids, and it's no less potent now. But now they also have to wade through all the pain that continues to follow them. Along with the romance that flames between them once again, there's also a mystery of just what happened back then that drives the story forward. There's plenty of plot twists and sizzle to keep readers at the edge of their seats from beginning to finish.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly! Tara Leigh has a new fan in this reader, and I can't wait for more from her!

If I though the prequel was amazing, I had no idea how truly brilliant Legacy of Lies would be.
Tripp was even better than before and I lived for his moody a**. He is closed off, hiding behind a computer screen and acts like an a**hole because he got his heart broken by all the people close to him, with exception of his best friend who is now also his business partner. But put Jolie back in his life and you see his facade start to crumble at first sight, even while pretending to hate her, he loves her and you can see how she just melts him. Ah these two are just glorious!!
There is much more to their story now than just being the heirs to an Empire who had everything taken from them; that one faithful day ruined their lives more than they both initially thought. They had to fight to be someone other than the name their parents ruined, and that cost them a lot more than just riches.
Almost ten years later and their chemistry is still there, the love is still there even if it's hidden behind hurt and resentment. When these two are in the same place, it is impossible to hide that there is a connection between them, their chemistry breathes fire, their love pulls them together but there are so many secrets between them...so many players in the game of their love story that are still at play, and still hidden from them that when they finally come to light they could threaten everything.
However their love is stronger than all the secrets, and there is one secret in particular that brings them closer together instead of apart, to fight for what they all missed the past 10 years, to fight for what they wanted all along but got taken away from them.

As an introduction to a new author, Legacy of Lies was sensational! Tara Leigh is without a doubt a very skilled storyteller and Legacy of Lies left me dying to get my hands on more of her words. There is much to love about this book and haven't the talent to express them as beautifully as I'd like. This is a second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance built off the prequel Thrown of Lies. While you do not *need* to read the prequel to enjoy Legacy of Lies, I can tell you that it does intensify the emotions of the story. In addition, the prequel provided a solid bedrock for Tripp and Jolie’s story and offered context and depth to their characters – so really, while you don’t absolutely have to read Throne of Lies, you still absolutely should!

Tara Leigh’s writing is intensely beautiful and compelling. Legacy of Lies is extremely well written, and I cannot stress this fact enough. As an editor, I cannot tell you how often I read a book and struggle to get into the storyline because I see repeated mistakes, typos, etc. and they become distractions that limit my connections to the story. That wasn’t the case with Legacy of Lies. While the writing is superior, it’s the emotions of the book that suck you into the story in an unbelievably intense fashion—and without a doubt, Tara Leigh shows true brilliance by layering emotions with a pace that fits the story perfectly. The dual perspectives allowed me to really get into the Tripp and Jolie’s heads. The character growth I saw in this book was superb and I was beyond impressed with Tara Leigh’s storytelling talents. I could not put this book down—in fact, I read Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies back to back staying up all night long to complete the books. Since I have small children, I rarely do this…my sleep is precious little as it is, but as the sun came up and my sons began to wake, I couldn’t be remotely sorry that I had read throughout the night.

The depth of emotions that Tara Leigh conveyed within the covers of this book was utterly outstanding. Tripp and Jolie’s chemistry and passion for one another shines throughout the story… even when they hate each other, they love each other deeply. I loved that Tara Leigh brought me through such an array of emotions—one moment I was near tears with the angst and heartbreak and in the next breath I needed a cold shower. For those of you reading this who may also be new to Tara Leigh, who aren’t sure about whether the heat of a new author is sufficient, let me put that to rest. It’s unquestionable that Tara Leigh makes it an art form to turn on her readers. My piece of advice: have your batteries charged and/or changes of panties at the ready cause if this book doesn’t make you hot there is nothing that will!! There is something about the enemies-to-lovers dynamic that takes hot sex and turns it into HOT. AS. FUCK. Sex, you know? I had heard fantastic things about Tara Leigh’s books and was so incredibly honored to be able to read an advanced review copy of Legacy of Lies—of course, now this author will discover my superior social media stalking skills and I will be reading everything I can get my hands on that she’s released in short order!!

WOW! So much happens in this story. Tripp and Jolie's story was amazing. They had to endure betrayal from all sides from people who loved them.
Jolie, I thought who had it worse. Living with a secret everyday, that only hurts her even more. Because the secret is a living with person who she thought she could trust.

One of the best second chance romances of this year!! Bravo Tara Leigh!
Make sure you read the prequel first!! I fell in love with Jolie and Tripp all over again. Their chemistry and pull was off the charts. A bit of a modern tale Romeo and Juliet twist. It was delicious. This romance was also suspenseful, I didn’t know where we would end up a couple times.
I loved Jolie’s relationship with Romy, she wanted to be there for her in anyway she could. Her love was definitely not missed. Same with Tripp’s love for Romy. He could of taken a way out but he stepped up. Proved he could be a good father unlike his.
I was on my toes till the very end. It was a fun story to read. I’m happy to add Tripp to my book boyfriend dungeon. So I’m a happy reader! Now I’m interested if Eva, Jolie’s bff will get her story? As a twin momma I’m looking forward to this.
Make sure you read the prequel first!! I fell in love with Jolie and Tripp all over again. Their chemistry and pull was off the charts. A bit of a modern tale Romeo and Juliet twist. It was delicious. This romance was also suspenseful, I didn’t know where we would end up a couple times.

As with my review of the prequel story, Throne of Lies, I wish to start this review with a moment of honesty.
I was fortunate enough to beta read a very early version of Legacy of Lies – so early, in fact, it went by a completely different name. However, being given the chance to see an early form of this book in no way influenced my ratings and reviews of Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. My ratings and views of the final product are completely independent of what I got to see in the early stages of creation. I loved the early version I got to read, I also loved the final product, but I did not let my knowledge of the development influence my final view.
Now, what you really care about: what I thought of Legacy of Lies.
Without a doubt, Legacy of Lies is another fabulous book from Tara Leigh. Each book I read amazes me, pulling me ever deeper into the author’s work. In no time at all, Tara Leigh became an author I will happily read anything by, with Legacy of Lies demonstrating why I’m so willing to consume all her words. It’s a wonderful story, one that sucks you in deep, and you’ll find yourself addicted throughout.
As with all of Tara Leigh’s books, Legacy of Lies is a solid four-star rating. I’ll be completely honest and say it is not my favourite Tara Leigh book – I have a weakness for rock stars, and the emotions pulled out of me in the Nothing But Trouble books mean those are my favourite Tara Leigh books – but it is certainly a wonderful read. Every Tara Leigh book is worth reading, and even though this is not my number one Tara Leigh book it is certainly a book I’ll be recommending to others.
It’s a book that will appeal to many, touching upon a number of the favoured tropes within romance. However, as with every Tara Leigh book, the author puts her own spin on things to ensure you’re hooked. There are plenty of layers throughout this book to enjoy, countless elements you’ll find yourself addicted to, and you’ll quickly find yourself lost to the story.
Tara Leigh has a way with words, ensuring you’re pulled into the book from the very first page. A couple of pages later, you’re deeply in love with the characters, a couple more pages and you’re addicted to the storyline. As the story progresses, your love and addiction grow stronger, your desire to see how everything plays out growing more desperate. With all there is to enjoy, this book will have you feeling all sorts throughout.

Jolie and Tripp's story continues in Legacy of Lies. They are running from their past till their paths collide and their lives turn upside down before starting a new one all together. I can't say much about the story without spoilers. But just know you will be completely shocked , surprised and totally hooked with the twists and turns of the story. My jaw is hurting from hitting the floor too many times. Second chance romances with star crossed lovers often run the risk of being predictable. But not this one by Tara Leigh. I was feeling on the edge throughout the book. What a beautifully crafted story! It was like watching a blockbuster movie filled with passion, actions, mystery and lots of emotions. I wanted to give her a standing ovation or something!
oh my Tripp Montgomery! Yes I said it. Sexy as hell, arrogant, confident, alpha all the way yet full of own inner battles. He is like a modern day knight who is fighting against all the odds. He will emerge as a winner who will get it all - the kingdom and the Princess. But not before Tara Leigh put him and the readers through the wringer. I am totally at awe with the princess, Jolie Chapman. Beautiful, courageous and totally inspiring. The chemistry between them is scorching hot and the love is just heavenly delicious. The supporting characters were awesome. and so was disgusting negative characters. You can feel a book is really great when the feelings and the characters stay with you for a long time even after finishing it. Jolie and Tripp will be in my thought for a long time!

Couldn't put it down! One of my Top Favorites of the year! The conclusion to Tripp and Jolie was that important to need to know. A must read!!! 5 stars
Tara this was a fantastic two part series with the prequel and then the full novel. You gave so much and i could feel the characters emotions as I read along. Emotional! Suspenseful! Page turner! You'll fall in love with Tripp and Jolie as much as I did. Sorry that the story had to end though. Tara's writing was definitely flawless and continuous to the end. I look forward to more of her books.
