50 BEST NEW RESTAURANTS IN THE US

Bon Appétit magazine has unveiled its annual shortlist of the 50 best new restaurants in the US, which will be later whittled down to a 'Hot 10' and an overall winner.

According to the list, Los Angeles and San Francisco are the most exciting places to eat in the US currently, with Seattle and Washington, D.C. not far behind.

Last year's number one was something of a surprise, Turkey and the Wolf, a sandwich shop in New Orleans, so expect the unexpected this year too.

The list is compiled by Bon Appétit Editor-at-Large Andrew Knowlton and Deputy Editor Julia Kramer, who visit all the restaurants personally. Take a look below.

The Hot 10 is unveiled on 14 August.
