KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State football team is set for a primetime matchup to open the 2018 season, traveling to Georgia State on Thursday, Aug. 30 for a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.
 
The Owls will open their fourth season of football against the Panthers, making the short trip down Interstate-75 for KSU's first contest against an FBS opponent.
 
In just its third year of existence in 2017, the Kennesaw State completed a season for the ages, posting a 12-2 record and capturing the Big South Conference championship with an undefeated mark in league play.
 
The Owls won back-to-back NCAA Division I FCS Playoff games, advancing to the quarterfinals and earning a national ranking of No. 8 in the final poll of the year. Head coach Brian Bohannon was named the 2017 AFCA FCS Coach of the Year and Bryson Armstrong earned the Jerry Rice Award as the national freshman of the year.
