My family and I have been going to Gin Mon for years and have always had a great experience. Everyone who works there is really friendly, but Grace always remembers our family and makes it a great experience.
They also can make many of their dishes gluten free if you ask- we've ordered the fried rice, cashew chicken, and sizzling rice soup gluten free before and it's all been delicious! They have a large selection of many delicious options, and there is something for everyone on the menu!
The restaurant itself is very cozy with maybe ten tables. There is also lots of parking as they share a parking lot with the grocery store, Baskin Robbins, subway, and several other stores and restaurants. We go out of our way to go to Gin Mon for the delicious food and friendly staff!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jesus H.San Francisco, CA08445Dec 1, 2023
Still as good as I remember 20+ years ago. Super friendly staff and delicious well executed dishes. Nothing over the top fancy just good, fresh chinese food.
Lunch specials are very reasonably priced. Will have to return more often to get my Gin Mon fix. Highly recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - David U.Clovis, CA2288086Feb 27, 2024
We were here last 20+ years ago. The owner Ben Wang sold out 8 years ago. The restaurant is located in Belmont in the Carlmont Village at Alameda and Ralston. The place is small and holds around 40, however, when we arrived the place was empty ( around 4:00pm). There was only one person behind the counter and no server, so we waited for ten minutes when the server who must have been on break arrived. They do mostly take out. Now to the food. We only ordered three seafood dishes: pan fried noodles with meat, shrimp and vegetables, shrimp fried rice and honey walnut shrimp. The shrimp was delicious as well as the rice, but when I took a bite of a piece of chicken in the pan fried noodles, it had the most nasty and foul taste that I had to put in a napkin. It really gave me the shivers so I only ate the noodles The meal was $60.00. I overheard one takeout order was $150.00 The price does not reflect the quality of the food. I would have given it 4 star if not for the distasteful bite.

Cam here with the family and had a nice dinner. I really like the interior of the restaurant, beautiful design and pleasant and cozy to be in. Food was good, we ordered Mongolian beef, Walnut prawns, sweet and sour pork and Von wonton soup. Everything tasted good. Seems like they are understaffed, as every business nowadays. But overall experience was good.

I have such amazing memories here, I used to go all the time in high school and still try and get back when I visit my parents. Great vegetarian options, wonderful waitstaff.

For several years, my husband and I have been going to Gin Mon restaurant at the Carlmont Shopping Center in Belmont. Due to inflation, the prices have gone up so much that we only get the lunch specials.
Fortunately, we have enough for dinner that evening. The service is excellent as usual. And the food is still quite yummy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Donald H.Ingleside, San Francisco, CA4141Sep 28, 2023

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is, I've been eating here for 23 years now. The hot and sour soup is the only thing I will eat when I'm under the weather and the rest of the menu is incredible. The dinner special is a must try build your own kind of dish, don't forget to order the sesame balls!!

A hidden gem in Belmont! Also, I'm glad this is close to work so I can always swing by to pick up dinner before heading home.
Highly recommend getting the Szechuan chicken - not spicy at all but really glazey and flavorful. I would suggest dining in or eating it ASAP to enjoy the slight crunch of the chicken. My go-to to pair with the chicken is the veggie chow mein - perfect ratio of veggie and noodles. Portion sizes are pretty generous too.

Bland and uninspired. We ordered tons of different dishes and were wholly unimpressed. We likely wont be back.
