Hamilton named cheating capital of Scotland for extramarital affairs
The town ranked number eight across the UK
HAMILTON residents are the most likely to have an affair in Scotland, according to new research.
The South Lanarkshire town is the Scottish cheating capital - with just over three percent of the population - 865 people - playing away from home.

It ranks at number eight in the UK, based on the number of people signed up to dating website Illicit Encounters.Dumfries in Dumfries and Galloway is second in the Scottish table with 750 people having affairs, 3% of the population.
In third place in Scotland is Dumbarton in West Dunbartonshire with 444 cheats (2.71% of the population).

Fourth place is Motherwell in North Lanarkshire (803 cheats, 2.5% of the population and fifth is Livingston in West Lothian, a previous winner (1,026 cheats, 2.44% of the population).
Kilmarnock is Scotland's most faithful town with less than 1% of the population having affairs.
Other Scots towns in the top 50 include Dumfries at 16, Irvine at 19, Dumbarton at 28 and Motherwell at 47.
Wealthy Windsor residents are number one in the UK with 4.29% of the population (1,555 people) cheating.

IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant said: "Cheating in Scotland is booming.
"We have found particularly high numbers of affairs in big towns around Glasgow and Edinburgh.
"Lots of couples in Scotland cannot afford to divorce due to the cost of establishing two new homes, so they are sticking with their partner and adding some spice to their marriage by discreetly having an affair.
“They know that with a site such as IllicitEncounters they can have an affair with a like-minded partner who is also looking to cheat. Both sides can have some fun without upsetting things at home.”
