Hundreds have taken to the streets in Brighton - and across Britain - to protest Boris Johnson’s suspension of Parliament.

It comes as a petition against the Prime Minister's plan racked up more than 1.5million signatures.

Mark Duguid tweeted: "@nicolasturgeon wee Oscar has a request for you 🙏"

The youngster can be seen holding a sign reading: "Nicola Sturgeon please annex Brighton and Hove - take us with you!"

Another banner reads: "Cameron, May, Boris, I would do a better job!"

And the First Minister jokingly replied to the message: "I hear you, Oscar! 😂"

Almost 2,000 people have liked her response in less than an hour since it was posted.

One wrote: "I think you’ll soon be inundated with these requests, Nicola, if not already."

And another said: "This is hilarious and adorable😂 Door's always open in Scotland if yer keen."

But one posted: "Don’t believe the hype Oscar, she’s just as bad as them lot."

Thousands are taking part in similar protests in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Hundreds are currently gathered in George Square where politicians will speak later today.
