Emir Sanusi: Ganduje appoints heads of new emirates, turbaning holds Saturday

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appointed heads of new emirates with same first class status as Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.

The development was announced on radio stations, Friday night.

They include Aminu Ado Bayero, son of late emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, who is the pioneer emir of the newly established Bichi Emirate.

Bayero is currently the Wamban Kano, a senior member at the Kano Emirate Council presided over by Emir Sanusi.

Ganduje also appointed three other emirs for Gaya, Rano and Karaye emirates.

The emir of Gaya is Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya; the emir of Rano is Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila, while the Emir of Karaye is Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Abukakar ll.

The new monarchs will be officially turbaned today, Saturday 11 May at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano by 12:00noon.

The announcement came hours after a State High Court sitting stopped Ganduje, the State House of Assembly and the Attorney-General from implementing the splitting of the Kano Emirate.

The exparte motion dated May 10, 2019, was filed by the plaintiff, Hon. Sule Gwarzo, before Justice Nasiru Saminu.

In an order of interim injunction, the court directed all parties in this suit to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
