Celtic fans to release green balloons during Airdrie clash in tribute to tragic baby girl who died just eight months old

Family friend Lisa Miller took to social media to urge Celts to release green balloons in the first minute of the game at Parkhead.

She said: "My friends Kevin & Carla sadly lost their beautiful baby girl Beibhínn this week.

"The family are huge Celtic supporters & in tribute, fans attending Airdrie game on 19th are asked to release a green balloon in 1st minute. Please support this.

"Sleep tight little lioness X".

A prominent Hoops fan page also posted the heartbreaking news last week and were inundated with tributes.

One said: "Sad times, especially the loss of a baby. Wish everyone comfort HH".

Another commented: "Prayers and love sent to all x".

One wrote: "Ahh so sad, fly high with the angels princess xx".

A fourth added: "So sorry to hear this.Sleep tight beautiful girl x".

And Celtic YNWA group shared the balloon appeal for fans to get behind.

They wrote: "We want to thank everyone for there support towards baby infant beibhinn who sadly lost her life at 8 months old

"From Celtic YNWA to other groups/pages have been very supportive in letting us share our post and we want to say thank you to all that have shared.

"Baby beibhinn parents Carla Louise Devine and Kevin Hegarty want to thank everyone for the support at a hard time and we would like supporters join in with a green balloon release inside Celtic park for a great send off for baby beibhinn.

The tribute hope comes less than one year after a similarly tragic moment at Ibrox.

A shattered dad asked Rangers fans to release balloons for his little boy Koa Brock who passed away after contracting meningitis.

Fans of both Glasgow giants banded together before the two sides met in last season's Scottish Cup semi-final.
