The popular restaurant opened at Braehead on December 10 to huge excitement with Scots but unsatisfied customers have blasted the new diner

US DINER Denny's has racked up more than 250 one-star reviews on trip advisor - just five months after opening its doors in Glasgow.

The popular restaurant opened at Braehead on December 10 to huge excitement with Scots who told at the time how they "couldn't wait" to visit.

But within a short space of time, furious customers have blasted the service, waiting time and grub quality in a host of scathing reviews left on the survey site.

One person described it as the "worst meal I've ever had" and told how after a 70 minute wait the tater tots were "cremated" and mozzarella dippers "soggy".

They also added that the cheese slice for their burger was brought out on a plate by itself.

Another added their own "joke" review claiming their time there was "a fiasco" and among their "worst dining experiences ever".

They said: "Too many things not available when we ordered.

"Some of our food started to arrive almost dead on 60 minutes after we ordered.

"Some of that it transpired had sat under heat lamps for 15 minutes.

"The last of the food arrived as the first served were just finishing.

"All in all a fiasco.

"Honestly amongst the worst dining experiences ever.

"If they don’t do something about customer service they will have no customers soon.

Some people even took to social media outwith the official reviews and complained about the restaurant.

In reply to Denny's praising sign partners Avon Signs for their work outside, one person blasted: "Never mind the signage.

"Get your service sorted out"

One said: "We went to Denny’s in Glasgow last wkend, we waited 3 hours to be served a breakfast that was dried out & had undercooked bacon".

Another commented: "just been to Glasgow this morning, really disappointed with service, cold food and lack of communication between staff and customers, been to Denny’s in the US and always had good service."

Others were happier with their time at the diner and praised the service and quality.

"Thoroughly Enjoyed my visit."

A Denny's spokesperson said: "Since we opened our first diner in Scotland in December, we haven’t always given our customers the Denny’s experience they expect, and we are sincerely sorry.

"Your continued support and enthusiasm are very important to us and we want to assure you that we are committed to offering you great quality food and service, every time.

"At Denny’s we love to feed people. In order to provide the very best quality food in a reasonable amount of time we have been working hard to make the changes necessary to achieve that.

"We have made management changes and we are continuously improving the training and recruitment of our team.

"We have hired additional team members to ensure we can deliver the very best guest experience and we are continuing to train our cooks on the correct brand standards while recruiting additional talented cooks to deliver great food and great service all the time.

"We know that queues and wait times have been an issue for many of our guests.

"Our servers will always advise guests if the restaurant is busy and there is a wait.

"In addition, we have a text service that will allow our guests to register for a table and continue shopping or running errands, sure in the knowledge that they will be notified when their table is ready."

We told how foodies were buzzing at the thought of Denny's opening a branch in Glasgow.

Edinburgh was also targeted for the opening of a new restaurant.

The news came as a number of US stores and eateries set up shop in Scotland.

Taco Bell are now dishing up burritos, tacos and breakfast wraps in the former Bradford’s Bakery on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.

And Scots went wild for Canadian coffee chain Tim Horton’s when it opened its first store in Glasgow last May.

The shop was the chain’s first store in the UK and fans queued hours OVERNIGHT to get a taste of their famous coffee and doughnuts.
