I really enjoyed the set up of the meet-cute for this story or I guess you could call it the way the author wrote their *constant* interaction (read the book and you’ll figure that out lol) with each other. It gave the story a bit of a kismet aura and because these two were just so opposite, it also gave the story just enough of an edge that kept me captivated to read nonstop. That’s the sweet spot right there. If you can get a reader invested in your story to the point they don’t want to be interrupted nor do they want to run out of words then … sweet spot

I’ve had a few books by this author rec’d to me and sitting on my kindle waiting and waiting and waiting (lol) and now they don’t have to wait because I’m eager to get to them. I’ve had a taste of her style, and I like it! Go forth and do the thing, not only will you enjoy this story, but look at that cover!!! #winning amirite?!

I always really like the Cocky Hero Club books and whilst Arrogant Assassin wasn’t my favourite it was still an enjoyable read.

Emma and Ryder’s story is very much opposites attract. She is hot mess, always late and always losing things where we Ryder is a stickler for punctuality and organisation. They get off to a rocky start but can’t deny the attraction and chemistry between them.

The story is fast paced, I found it a bit too fast and felt some parts of the story were skimmed through and we could have had more detail in them.

The characters were brilliant. Emma, Nat and Ivy were hysterical and great fun, I loved their friendship. It was great to see Ryder reconnect with his brothers too but this was one of the things I felt could have been explored more.

A fun, short, cute read that was ideal for a rainy afternoon.

I always enjoy the Cocky Hero Club books. They're usually short-ish, easy reads, with a decent amount of steam and fun characters. Arrogant Assassin fit right into the club. It's sweet and funny and there are a plethora of adorable animals.

In what could have been a typical opposites attract story Lyssa Cole has taken this trope and giving it her own special twist.

What happens on vacation doesn’t always stay on vacation. Emma is a fun, spontaneous animal lover with a huge heart. And Ryder is none of those things, at least as far as he sees himself. This is a story about two people bringing out the best in each other by learning to love, trust and accept.

Lyssa Cole has written a visual story with many locations that you just can’t stop from picturing yourself there. This was a perfect way to spend an afternoon, do not miss out on this steamy story!

“Ready?” Ryder walks into the bathroom carrying Brownie and has a towel slung over his left shoulder.
I ignore the change of speed in my pulse, my bastard body betraying me as Ryder kneels beside the tub while I sit on the lid of the toilet. I should grab the cup and wet Brownie’s fur, but I don’t move.
I can’t concentrate on anything but the spark when my bare leg brushes against his arm.
Ryder notices too, and his gaze falls to where my leg is.

Heat crawls up my neck to my face. “Shit, where’s the cup?” I look around like an idiot even though I know it’s there in front of me.

“You mean this one?” Ryder hands me the cup, wearing a playful grin on his lips.
He must know. He must feel it. Just as I do.

Any time that I pick up one of Lyssa Cole’s books, I just fall in love with the story and the characters, there’s just something about her writing that sweeps you up and you can’t help but end up being lost in the story and it feels like you’re experiencing it all yourself.
Even though I think that Lyssa’s writing is pretty incredible, she always manages to succeed and improve on it with each book and I’m honestly in awe of her because she is just super talented, I know for a fact that I couldn’t sit there and just let my mind wonder and put all my thoughts into words. I know that in a way writing up a review is kind of letting your mind free and you’re literally putting words down, but I don’t have the knack or the vision to write stories which is why I’m so proud and in awe of her.
This book feels a little different to her previous work, but even still it just worked and flowed in all the right places. Although, I do have to say that Brownie is my all time favourite in this book, but I won’t say any more as I don’t want to ruin it for you, but Brownie is oh so cute. You’ll just love her when you get to meet her.
Ryder and Emma are seriously just wow…. It’s clear that there’s chemistry there, but I understand completely why Emma isn’t exactly as into him to begin with, due to him being one arrogant jerk. But still, this book develops in such ways I never thought possible.
I just love Ryder though, he is just one of those guys that you can’t seem to get enough of or even out of your mind but you can’t help but keep wanting to go back for more.
Honestly, Lyssa did a great job with this book and I loved every second of it, I can’t fault anything because she did her research and just poured her passion into it.
I can’t wait to see what’s next from her, but then again I’m pretty sure it’s just going to be as epic as all her other books.

It’s been a long time coming for Emma, she’s needed to go on vacation forever and now she’s finally doing it alongside her two best friends, Nat and Ivy. What starts off going well on the trip quickly turns a little sour thanks to the fact that she accidently knocked into a passenger on the plane and spilled his drink on him, but thanks to him being such an arrogant jerk towards her, he ended up putting her in a sour mood. Now she’s just hoping that she can go the rest of the holiday without seeing him again, but for her it seems that life wants to intervene and they don’t stop butting heads at the resort. Yet when he asks Emma for dinner, she ends up turning him down, but out of no where changes her mind and they spend one amazing night together and then he vanishes the next day.
Emma tries her hardest to not dwell on it, but still she can’t help but keep thinking back to their one magical night together. However, when he ends up calling her out of the blue because he needs help, she has no idea her life is about to turn upside down, but she willingly agrees to help him.
Will Ryder be able to go after what he wants and hopefully turn things around so that they are happy as they were whilst away and show her that he is actually a good guy deep down or is it clear that they’re not a match made and that he hasn’t changed his ways and he’s still the arrogant jerk that she met on the plane???

The gorgeous guy Emma accidentally spilled her drink on just had to be staying at the same hotel where she's vacationing. Too bad the gorgeous is overpowered by his jerky personality. Now they keep bumping into each other. And a spark of something is there. Will it fan to flame or is his job holding him back from doing what he really wants with her?

Ryder cannot get the gorgeous but annoying woman who spilled her drink off his mind. Why does she have to be staying at the same hotel he is? She's distracting him from completing his job. She's on his mind so much that he even asks her to dinner. Too bad she turns him down. When she changes it suddenly, will it mean they can have some fun together? Or will he take off on her leaving her the one with him on her mind?

Whew these two...talk about chemistry! Even from the very beginning when he was such an ass, I could see their connection. I love how much he grew and became the kind of man she deserved, how he shed his pain and joined life again. Emma and Ryder are a fabulous couple, and a very hot addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

First, look at that cover—it is so sexy! A great storyline! I genuinely enjoyed this read of opposites attract. This is a poignant story about Emma Boone and Ryder Stone. The Arrogant Assassin portrays a story about loyalty, commitment, love and what lengths one will go through to keep those values alive. Ryder is handsome, arrogant, hard, cold, rude, but sexy as hell. Because of his past, Ryder feels that since his parents are gone everyone leaves, and love is risky business when you’re an assassin. Ryder worked for his uncle and no one alive can beat him in brawn or brains, which is why he is the most valuable of the assassins. Emma is the assistant manager of an animal shelter, and she knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. Emma and her girlfriends decide to go on a vacation. When Emma accidentally spills Ryder’s drink on his shirt on the plane, he was so rude. What a surprise when Emma encounters Ryan at the same hotel that she is staying. They are complete opposites in every single way. But for some reason, fate has decided to force the two together. Despite the chemistry, they’re determined to fight the attraction growing between them. Besides, what could an animal shelter manager whose love of animals have in common with an assassin? Only one thing is certain. When they finally come together, it’s going to be epic. I got emotionally attached to the characters and started pulling for their relationship. I do have one little criticism of why I gave it a four star—even though the story was entertaining, we are told Ryder is an assassin, but we didn’t see action of how hardcore it actually was with killings. I would have liked to see more brawls and activities of the assassin in action. Lyssa Cole manages to weave plot lines centered on romantic ideas with artfully developed main characters. What happens when you go on a vacation with the girls and the arrogant guy from the flight is in the same hotel as you? Well, you ignore him and enjoy your time, but he has other ideas for you.

The minute that Emma spilt a drink not he jerk in the plane and then sees him at her hotel, she had a bad feeling that all hell was going to break loose. He was a jerk on the plane and he hasn't changed at the hotel. Although her friends want her to hook up with him because he is hot, she is dead set against it. But is she? She finally agrees to go to dinner with him and they do get along. But something is off about him and Emma just can't place it.

Ryder is at the hotel to do a job but his mind keeps wandering to Emma and he keeps screwing up his job. He had never wanted or thought about a woman as much as he is Emma. In his line of work, he doesn't feel he can get close to someone.

What happens when they get back home and Ryder looks her up? What happens when her car is vandalized and she finds out just what his job is? Will she be able to look past what he does? Will Ryder go against his uncle and leave the job for Emma?

Lyssa does a good job of having you guessing if love will win over anything else? She writes a sweet romance that is a quick read but an enjoyable one.

Ryder is in Aruba for business and not for play however he is finding himself distracted when fate seems to ensure that Emma, an annoying yet beautiful woman, is always there at the least opportune times. They share one romantic evening together however when he returns home he finds out that forgetting about her is easier said than done.

All Emma wants is to enjoy her vacation with her two best friends and she definitely doesn’t want to be attracted to Ryder, a bad-tempered and sarcastic man even if he is sexy. When she returned home she never expected to see him again until he appeared at the animal shelter where she worked. Although they didn’t get off to the best start there is no denying the chemistry and connection between them, but will his occupation be the one obstacle they can’t overcome?

This is a sweet and sexy story about the power of love filled with family and friends, both human and furry, that is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Ryder and Emma butt heads on their flight to Aruba, thank goodness she won't have to see that arrogant jerk again. Imagine her surprise when he is staying at the same hotel as her girls trip. These 2 have instant chemistry but hate each other at the same time. After one dinner together they realize they are from the same town. But really what are the chances of ever meeting again?

This is my first Lyssa Cole book and such a great introduction to her work. I fell hard for bad boy Ryder despite him being an assassin. I some how knew there was more to him than his cold heart. Emma's best friends Nat and Ivy made the story even more fun. I love the original series so it is always fun to have the glimpses of those characters too. Bonus we not only got Pixie but Brownie too! Another fun addition to the Cocky Hero Club World.

A good read with fun characters.

Emma is going to Aruba for a girls holiday with her two best friends. The problem is, Emma is forget and late for everything. Whilst trying to find her kindle on the plane, she elbows Mr Arrogant and he spills his drink down his shirt, he is one unhappy man and tells her!

Ry is heading to Aruba to do a job, and the last thing he needs is a distraction, but however much he tries he can’t help bumping into Emma at the most inconvenient times, and ends up messing up the job!

Once they are both back home, they get together and everything is going great, until Emma finds out his real job and ends things. Can Ry make things right? can he walk away from his well paid job and find happiness like ‘normal’ people. Can a goat, a house purchase and a change of job make Emma come back to him.

You must be the change you want to see in your life...

Emma and Ryder meet on a flight to Aruba and it goes ass-backwards. Emma literally bumps into Ryder and he acts like an overbearing douche, but boy is that man hot looking. They end up at the same resort and keep colliding into each other. Ryder is there to do a job but he gets side tracked by the gorgeous Emma. He does not know why he is attracted to her, she is exasperating and irritating, yet he finds himself drawn to her. He finds he is a different man when he is with her, wanting and needing a normal life.

It was a joy listening to the banter between these two. The sexual tension was off the roof. They get to know each other with the help of a goat. Crazy right? Their story was sexy, funny and heartfelt. I loved it.

Emma is a fly by the seat of her pants kind of girl while Ryder is very well structured. Their first meet didn't go well since he was a bit pissy about her accidentally spilling her drink on him, but she moved on. Little did she know that he would be in the town where she lived after her vacation, so now neither can get the other out of their head. They were cute together as the sparks were flying with their whole opposites attract going on after they started spending time together. It was the cast of supporting characters that really added to this story as her friends were super fun! Arrogant Assassin is a short(ish) read that made a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Can I switch places with Emma?
I want someone who would be okay with having tons of dogs and even buying me a goat or two to add to the crowd. 😍
Emma is enjoying life with her 2 dogs and her friends, the only bad thing in her life is when he parents decide to sell her family home.
Ryder is a Assassin not looking for love while on assignment until it falls into his lap quite literally in the form of a drink from a gorgeous woman.
Emma and Ryder crash into each other and it is sparks from beginning. Ryder will do anything to fill his life with the woman he has to come.to love including some drastic changes.
This book is heartfelt and such a feel good love story. It makes you truly believe love comes before everything else and that change doesn't always have to be so scary.

Arrogant Assassin was fantastic! I devoured this fun, sweet and sexy book. Emma and her friends are heading to Aruba to enjoy the beautiful island vacation. unfortunately, she bumps into a cocky jerk on the plane. Ryder is at the resort to finish his assignment, but keeps getting distracted by Emma. She was sassy yet so full of love and kept Ryder on his toes. He was a jerk but then the real man emerged, so sweet and just perfect. The push and pull and sexual tension was crazy hot. This story was great! Full of emotions, fun bantering, a bit of angst and some hot sex. Oh and some really cute animals.

AMAZING!! FUN!! ENTERTAINING!
OMG!! I loved this book so much. I couldn't put it down. From the moment Ryder and Emma bumped into each other on the plane you could just feel the chemistry between them. And the banter between these two was the best. Ryder had some issues he had to work through but meeting Emma was the best thing that ever happened to him. Emma had to take some time to herself after hearing what Ryder does for a living to see if she could handle that. You'll have to read this hook to find out but I promise you will love it as much as I did. Oh! And the animals..... don't even get me started. The best. This is a new author to me and I'm very impressed

I thought this book was terrific. The plot was fun and I thought had a certain freshness to it. I found the book very easy to get into and I felt it read smoothly. The main characters, Emma and Ryder, were extremely likable and I thoroughly enjoyed their chemistry and sparks. I loved the cleverness of this book. There was so much going on under that initial layer and that made for a story, a romance and a couple that was rich, compelling and impossible not to cheer on and swoon over. This is my impartial, independent review.

Emma is in Aruba for a vacation some fun in the sun and relaxation. What she doesn't need is some cocky man who is a jerk in her business. But they keep running into each other. Ryder is in Aruba to do a job he doesn't need any distractions, but when he keeps running into the smart mouth Emma things are about to change. These two do have spark and chemistry, but they also have their own stuff going on and neither of them wants more than something fun. But when that fun is taken back home with a threat of danger can they save each other before it's too late. Love this story.

Emma and Ryder meet on a plane to Aruba and don't really get off to a great start. She spilt her drink on him and he was kind of a jerk. Then, Ryder ends up staying at the same hotel as Emma and they keep bumping into each other. He's arrogant and rude and sexy too. She's fun and a little sassy and totally opposite of Ryder. They end up having one night together, then he disappears. Once back home, Ryder and Emma bump into each other again. Is it meant to be?

A fast paced story with plenty of steam and great chemistry between the characters. Easy afternoon read.

I am not typically a romance reader. I like suspense and mystery. But there is something about the way Lyssa Cole writes. She makes sure you are involved with all characters not just caught up in the mainstream.

The steamy parts are placed perfectly throughout the novel. Not over done but definitely not under done. The steamy parts are also on the realastic side. These parts feel more like you are prying on a real relationship then watching a cheap porn. Very tastefully done.

Very well written and such a great storyline. I look forward to her other reads.

This is the first book I've read by Lyssa Cole and I really enjoyed it. Emma and Ryder both sizzled from the first but not in the way you think. He's arrogant and he thinks he's all that but Emma isn't convinced. It was fun to watch their relationship grow but when secrets are revealed, will what they've found go down the drain? Make sure you get this book!!! It's wonderful!

The thrill of reading Lyssa Cole is that there's always a twist. Whether she's breaking your heart, heating your senses or speaking directly to your soul, you are meant to feel everything. Arrogant Assassin is as intriguing as it is steamy. Ryder and Emma are a powder of keg of hotness that refuses to be extinguished.

Emma reminds me of my first experience on a plane as well as going to a great destination with a great friend. It’s a great way to connect with a main character but that’s as far as it went for me even though at times it seemed se included the reader in her circle. Ryder hasn’t had a good day and his night wasn’t much better. It seemed as if he also included the reader in his circle.

Once in a while, I got a chuckle and I never feel that’s a bad thing but there were times where I just got confused. For most of the book, I felt like I was reading two separate stories. I kept waiting for that moment when the two would meld into one. For me, that didn’t come until we are almost to the end. At one point I felt that maybe things were going to turn around but then I was back to feeling like there were two stories going on. It’s possible it was because I didn’t feel a connection with our main characters.

I was hoping that if I was patient enough that the feeling would change but it just didn’t work for me. Every time that I tried to see these two as a couple. I liked reading about their lives but each on their own. One issue I had with Ryder is that I thought he was going to be a real bad*ss, based on his job, but I couldn’t connect him with the word “arrogant”. On a happy note, I loved the ending. Just because I wasn’t feeling this author’s latest book doesn’t mean I won’t check out more of her work.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Ryder and Emma butt heads when they first meet but the sparks are there nonetheless. It's funny watching their relationship develop but it's not all easy, especially when Emma finds out his secret. The chemistry is explosive and I loved seeing them work through their issues.

Emma & Ryder...
These two had a rocky start to meeting and no matter what Ryder does to make it better things always take a turn. However, these soon start over and you can definitely see their connection and passion that these two share. Sexy, fun, sensual, and some drama. Amazing story!
