TEQUILA + YOUR BEST FRIEND + YOUR BEDROOM = UM. WHOOPSIE?

Don’t sleep with your best friend.
Take it from me. I did it. And it was awful.
I-wish-the-tequila-made-me-forget kind of bad.
The problem is, Luke has forgotten. He swears that he can’t remember a thing about that night beyond the trays of tequila shots being set on the tables.
Except I can't forget. I can’t forget how good his hands felt until I fell over and hit my hip on the dresser, and I sure as hell can’t forget the entire two minutes of tap-tap-squirt.
Awkward. Embarrassing. And the new subject of a couple of dirty lucid dreams.
But I have no intention of telling him what we did. Nothing good comes from telling your best friend he’s the worst guy you’ve ever slept with.
Which makes the tequila on my birthday a very, very bad idea…

Somedy, if i ever have a male best friend, I want to hav what Aspen and Luke have. Their romance story is sweet, un and endless banter. The story stars right away on the night they accidenly slept together.

The book is full with fun banter, sweet and a whole lot of food. I like Luke. He is loyal and fun. Aspen is fiesty and sassy. They are match in heaven. I am surprise it takes them forever to realize their feeling toward each other.

Well, love is a journey anyway. And in Luke and Aspen story, it is a journey worth to be listen/ read.

Genre: Friends to Lovers. Romantic Comedy.
Actual Rating: 3.5 stars

Cute, fun, and quirky are the best words to describe Tequila, Tequila! Anyone who knows me can see that I am a die hard Emma Hart fan. She has the most beautiful covers and some of the best over the top characters around. I read every single book she publishes- most of the time without even reading the blurb- and can always find myself chuckling and smiling ear to ear. For the most part, I enjoyed this one. Unfortunately, it's not my favorite Emma Hart book though. The reason being is that there wasn't a lot of "substance" to the story.

Aspen and Luke have been friends for 20 years. So imagine how awkward it was when the two drunkenly slept together. Fortunately for them, they can forget it even happened because neither think the other remembers that it happened in the first place. That is, until another couple of tequila shots opens Aspen's mouth and she tells all the secrets... Knowing that their friendship is important but also realizing the two have more feelings than they thought they did, the two decide to give it a go at dating one another. And the rest is history!

Everything that I summed up above is exactly what you get in the story. Sure there were moments in between where Luke's crazy family comes into play (I love his grandmother) and some silly banter between the two, but I never felt like I was able to really get to know the characters. I would have really liked to see a bit more of their past (they have been friends for over 20 years after all) and maybe some info on how they reacted when the other was actually dating. It would have felt more complete that way.

Other than this, I found the book to be a cute and lighthearted friends to lovers romance. I would certainly recommend it to those who enjoy the authors work and for those who love romantic comedies.

Salt. Tequila. Lime. ****OUT NOW!!****

Tequila Tequila is my favourite Emma Hart book so far. It’s laugh out loud funny. Luke and Aspen are contagious. Their story is addictive and I loved every minute. I’ve wanted this book since I read the synopsis and I’ll be honest the waiting has been painful. I’m so glad it didn’t disappoint.

Tequila the champagne of Mexico. It’s made in the volcanic soil to add extra zing and isn’t actually a cactus (who knew?).

One drunken night can change it all. Aspen and Luke are best friends. They have never thought of each Other in a romantic way. After one too many tequilas they end up having a one-minute rump. It wasn’t pretty. It was embarrassing.... so much so that both are in denial. Did it really happen if no one remembers? What if all of a sudden you are thinking about your best friend in a non-platonic way?

You’ve heard of whiskey dick but what about tequila tap-tap squirt? 2 minutes can change a relationship forever but Let’s not Taco ‘bout That (Tittle of chapter five in Emma Harts Tequila Tequila).

Aspen works in a bar. She likes to sleep late, eat Mexican food and drink too much alcohol. She’s in her twenties and enjoying life. She has a close set of friends and lives alone. Her best friend Luke is at her house every day. They pretty much do everything together. They binge watch tv, they sometimes sleep in the same bed and they enjoy nights out. They have been friends for most of their lives and know each other’s bad habits. What they don’t do is kiss. Not even once until that unfortunate night.

Luke can match Aspen’s witty banter, keep up with her drinking and follow the BFF emergency code. He works as a builder and has abs of steel. He has a big Mexican family. His grandmother is crazy but at least she can cook. She loves Aspen and is willing to marry her off to any member of her family. Luke has it pretty good. A loving family, a best friend he does everything with and the best supply of food in Texas. What he didn’t want was to ruin his friendship with Aspen.

I love the mystery that surrounds this book. It’s what made me want to read it so badly. That’s why I’m not giving anything away. Emma has a way of creating ordinary characters and making them special. Aspen and Luke aren’t a rocket scientist. They're not trying to make it in Hollywood. There two people enjoying what they have and trying not to F**k it up.

Loved it. 5 out 5. Funny, entertaining and made for each other. It’s great!

Simplemente no me gustó.

This was just a really meh book for me, mostly since I didn't feel any connection to the characters. Their relationship went a little something like Drunk sex -> Friendship -> Friendship -> More friendship -> Oh no we remember the sex -> We're together -> The End. There was just a little too much of the strictly friendship parts for me to actually feel a romantic connection between them. And honestly, even as friends these two were still pretty meh and I didn't fully understand what was between them.

Overall, it's not a horrible book and was probably just a me issue that I had with the characters but I can't say this was the best book to end my year with.

I finished this a while ago and regret that I put off reviewing it for a while. I also put off another by the same author that I'm trying to get back to as well. The thing is, her books are fast reads. So the reviews piled up on me. And since she has a bit of a, um, tone? my reviews started sounding the same in my head. Because the banter! And this one had that, at least a bit. Which is nice.

And the story on this one really intrigued me, too. I mean, how would you recover from really bad, drunken sex with your best friend? It can't be easy, particularly with both realistically claiming alcohol memory wipes to start. So they go a bit without it becoming awkward. Until another tequila night lets that cat out of the bag. And then all the awkward in the world.

And I love where this didn't go. I mean, Luke never pulls the "gotta prove myself now" crap that a true alpha would be prone to. He's a great guy altogether, really, and I loved how committed he was to seeing the awkward through to get to a better place—even if that place was just a return to friendship.

And I really liked his family. It could easily have been played just for laughs, but Hart gives it enough depth to make it actually work. I particularly liked how Aspen was already a favorite with his family and that they cared for her like she was already a part of them, and without matchmaking. I mean, Abuelita kept trying to set her up with all the other cousins because she wanted Aspen as part of the family so much and that just worked so very well.

It's not pure win. Aspen was extremely exasperating in the last half of the story. Her instinct for flight was beyond annoying and the only thing that saved this from being a million pages long was that Luke knew and understood her well enough to push just right. Which is good characterization, but tiring to this reader.

That and the problematic relationship with alcohol put this at four stars. A fun read. But with minor issues.

A note about Steamy: There are a handful of explicit sex scenes, including a disappointingly (for Aspen) short one, putting this (barely) in the middle of my steam tolerance. It was one of the better aspects of this how well the intimacy is handled for two friends who are already all up in each others' business.

I thought the premise sounded funny and I’ve never tried this author before but she did a great job putting me off trying future books! The half-Mexican hero is fodder for lazy stereotyping about Mexicans drinking tons of tequila and whoever edited this book can’t even get basic Spanish right (I say this as someone who really only knows survival Spanish!)

Spotted this book in the GR friends' feed and for whatever reason I decided I would give a try.
Not bad! In fact I really enjoyed it!! It is a funny book, real laugh out loud type of read.
A tale of two best friends turned to being more than just friends... But then there's that thing, you know, when you don't want to ruin the friendship... So... Yeah, if there's a spark there, tequila or no tequila, it'll all get going in flames.

My English review

Roh I looooooved this novel so much! Emma Hart is becoming one of my favorite romance writers. What? No ! She has become one of my favorite romance writers! Yes that’s it and her books are so great! And it was once again a great pleasure for me to discover this novel. Except that now, I need to have it in paper to add it on my shelves. And you know what? It does not exist yet in this format …. Sacrilege! Yes sacrilege! I need it and right now!!!!!

In short, maybe you want to learn more about Luke and Aspen? I adored them, they are both crazy. Especially Aspen, I must admit. But when we see Luke’s family, in fact, we realize that it’s the same too! Yes, because once you’ve met his abuelita, it’s over, because she is quite a character, that’s for sure. One that marks us greatly! And Aspen? Oh Aspen, how she made me laugh and, at the same time, I felt her doubts perfectly. It’s so easy to put ourselves in her place and to understand all the stages through which she passes. We want everything to go well, things to move forward at best, but nobody can be sure that it will. This is not all because all the characters also make a strong impression and I loved to discover them all!

Aspen and Luke … Oh those two. It is complicated. It’s difficult. Something has happened after a little too much tequila and what they are good at playing the ostrich! Oh yes, they are very talented! But I loved learning to discover them, I loved seeing them evolve, to attend their colorful exchanges. I loved everything in fact! And I can only advise to try her books!

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

This has to be one of my favourite books this year. I sped through this like a speed demon, it was just soooo good!

Luke and Aspen are life. Oh my god they are hilarious. I have not laughed so hard when reading a book before. These two are perfect as best friends and you can just tell that they're meant to be together, even when they haven't realised it, and don't want to admit it yet. Best friends to lovers is one of my fave romance novel tropes, and this was so well written.

I loved all the characters in this, and there are just so many hilarious and awkward scenes that this is pure comedic gold. These guys are loveable, relatable and so damned funny.

I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. Just go and read it, I promise you won't regret it!

I absolutely loved this book.

I love friends-to-lovers stories and this one was priceless. It was pure perfection. There was an instant belief of Aspen and Luke’s lifetime friendship. And I loved how they were as friends. And loved how they were always there for each other. I'll admit, I loved that after their drunken hookup, they both remembered it but thought the other person had forgotten it. And I loved that it was awful. The only earth moving they felt was their friendship moving to potentially rocky ground. Both of them tried so hard to keep things normal, even as they felt like things were different and awkward.

I was a little surprised (in a good way) that it was Aspen that balked at moving into romantic relationship territory. It was a nice change from it always being the guy that’s unsure.

I loved seeing both of them be jealous of interactions that never bothered them before, and both of them weren’t quite sure how to deal with it. But when Luke claimed her at the bar…PRICELESS SWOONING.

This book was freaking amazing and I’d definitely recommend it!!!!

I just knew what was going to happen. He was going to come, and I wasn’t even close. Not even warmed up. The key was in the car, but the engine wasn’t revving. No sir, not even close to it.”

Tequila, Tequila is by far one of my favorite romantic comedies by Emma.

I couldn’t get enough of Aspen, Luke, or they’re Tequila moments. They’re officially my favorite “friends to lovers” RomCom couple, too. They were hilarious, and so incredibly adorable together at all times — even during all the awkward, secretive moments. There was nothing I wanted more then for these two to come clean, give it and them, another try. I seriously forget the last time I was so intensely wrapped up in a RomCom couple like this.

Tequila, Tequila was WAY MORE than I was expecting, and I was left devouring every word. I mean, I know when I pick up a rom com by Emma, I’ll love it. She never disappoints in putting me back in a “good reading mood.” However, there was just something extra special about this one. Everything from the “whoopsie moment,” the secondary characters, like Blair and Luke’s Abuelita, to Aspen’s intense love for Mexican food (I can relate!) was PERFECT!

Aspen and Luke have been best friends forever. One night with entirely too much tequila spells trouble...and not the kind of trouble they bargained for. They never meant to actually have sex, but one horrible night has them pretending they can't remember it the next day. What happens when they can't stop thinking about it and want to see if it was a fluke thanks to the booze?

Aspen was witty and smart-mouthed, headstrong and determined. Luke has the best family, and his grandmother terrifies everyone. I was in love with this book from page one. The first chapter had me dying of laughter...at work. I love a good friend to lovers, but this topped any others I've read. There isn't a whole lot of works without giving it all away, so I have to be a pusher. Read it! Seriously do yourself a favor. One you won't regret. You'll fall in love with every character here.

FINALLY DONE WITH THIS ONE

(no, it wasn't bad but I hit a slight book slump while reading it so it felt like it took me 84 years to finish whereas normally I'd be done in 3 hours)

This one showed though why I'm not usually a fan of friends to lovers.

Emma Hart, once again, proves why she’s one of the queens of romantic comedies with her newest release Tequila, Tequila. Luke and Aspen’s story not only has the witty banter, quirky antics, and sexy scenes that readers have come to expect from Hart’s amusing and snarky reads, but Hart also puts her own spin on a common romance trope, friends-to-lovers, by creating a realistic scenario of best friends, tequila, and a less than stellar night in the sheets that only one of them remembers.

One of the reasons I enjoy Hart’s storytelling is because she provides her readers with both Luke and Aspen’s perspectives, giving her us much needed insight as the hero and the heroine struggle to redefine their friendship and work to understand how their feelings became something more after a very fuzzy night of Tequila and some spotty memories. These two have always shared an amazingly easy relationship but accidentally falling into bed with one another complicates things, especially on Aspen’s end because she’s the one who remembers their less than stellar night of drunken sex. So witnessing her figure out this new dynamic without letting on that things have changed for her when it comes to her newly acquired affection for Luke is a heck of a crazy and hilarious ride - one that I couldn’t help but hope Luke would rectify when he finally understands why he craves his best friend in more than ‘friendly’ ways.

For me, a story with dynamic and entertaining secondary characters makes the plot that much better, and in Luke and Aspen’s book, their friends and family members add to the hilarity of the situations Luke and Aspen find themselves in, moving the plot forward but also adding providing readers with some of their own antics and insights that not only shake up Luke and Aspen’s lives but also allow readers a third perspective when it comes to the inevitability of something more developing between these two.

Tequila, Tequila is a fast-paced, witty, and steamy read that will have readers reveling in the humorous scenes and the amazing banter between Luke and Aspen, and it was just the light-hearted story I needed after a series of emotional draining romances.

Emma Hart has given me one incredible read! What you will get is an entertaining story-line, some laugh out loud funny moments and a lot of sexy good romance.

Tequila, Tequila was a quick and easy read for me. It is an exciting story about two best friends, who after a night of downing tequila shots, have drunk, awkward and embarrassing sex. This of course leads to a lot of fun, flirty and witty moments.

I was immediately pulled into Luke and Aspen's story. I loved their chemistry and the connection that they shared. Their banter was hilarious and they both gave as good as they got. Their story was smart, sexy, laugh out loud funny and overall, just really entertaining.

There is just so much to love about this book and it is definitely one of my favorite new romantic comedies. I absolutely love Emma Hart's writing style and her incredible sense of humor. I am just dying to see what she has in store for us next.

No estoy satisfecha.

That was fucking awesome. It combined everything I love. Best friends to lovers. Small-town romance. Matchmaking grandmothers. Big families.

It really was so adorable. Aspen and Luke were made for each other, and their relationship was natural and beautiful.

The only thing is that there was no conflict. There was absolutely no conflict.

But it was so cute that I can't even, so . . .

And I'm out.

"Against all rational thought and what I knew was right, I wanted to kiss her again. I wanted to feel her soft lips on mine. My hands in her hair. Her fingers wound into my t-shirt."

"I'd seen laughter. Amusement. Bemusement. Disbelief. Shock. I'd never seen this. Not this darker flicker of emotion I wasn't familiar with seeing in his eyes. It was deeper...Stronger. Something that grabbed a hold of me and made sure I couldn't look away. Like a puzzle I wanted to complete. A riddle I needed to figure out."

"His kiss was pure magic. Straight-up ecstasy."

"Love is easy. Relationships are hard. But, if you love someone enough, nothing is ever too hard to fight for."

Tequila, Tequila is the latest laugh out loud romantic comedy from author Emma Hart. This story hits all the marks with humorous moments, sexy good times and characters that just keep you begging for more.

From the moment I picked up Tequila, Tequila I was positively hooked on Aspen & Luke. The very first chapter had me hiding my face and dying of laughter all at the same time. Aspen & Luke have the very best friendship and nothing could possibly shake these two...that is until one night when copious amounts of tequila are involved. This night changes absolutely everything and turns this duos axis totally upside down. I loved watching these two deal with the moments after; trying to navigate their way through all the things. Aspen & Luke had amazing chemistry and I couldn't wait to see just how their story was going to play out.

Bottom line, Tequila, Tequila was a totally fun read. It made laugh. It made me swoon. I totally got lost in the characters and their story. This is one of the cutest best friends to lovers romances that I've gotten my hands on so far this year. Aspen & Luke's story is funny with just the right amount of sarcasm and sexy. With little to no drama Tequila, Tequila will have you devouring this story in just a few short hours and in the end, you'll be left with a huge grin on your face. I had a wonderful time getting swept up in Aspen & Luke's story and am excited to see what this author has in store for us next!

***5 ‘Perfect Sense’ Stars***

Now this may just be my favorite best friends to lovers romance this year. It had everything I love about the trope and then some, and that ‘some’ was all kinds of fun. It was sweet, smexy, snarky and full of heart and laughter as Aspen and Luke navigated their way through and around their shifting feelings for each other.

I adore Aspen and Luke. Aspen has just the right mix of sweet and snarky and isn’t afraid to speak her mind (most of the time). She cares deeply for her friends and will do anything to protect those relationships. Luke is a sweetheart. He’s laid back and has a charm that draws you in from the moment you meet him. His family and friends are all a little batshit crazy, but he’d do anything to keep them happy and safe.

Aspen and Luke’s journey to their HEA was all kinds of fun. The catalyst for the change in their status from best friends to lovers wasn’t unexpected, though the fall out from it kind of was. The fact that they were already best friends made it so easy to see how they could be more than that, if they only let themselves, because they knew each other inside out. Their bantering was a lot of fun and the sexual chemistry between them was smexy as all get out. There isn’t a lot of drama or angst going on between them, which I truly enjoyed, and though there was some awkwardness between them, it didn’t really mess up the relationship they already had. It does take them a bit to figure things out, and a few nudges and swift kicks in ass by friends and family, but I really liked where they ended up when everything was said and done.

This book really was a fun read. I was drawn into the story right from the start and fell in love with Aspen and Luke easily. While there is snark in this book, it’s not as OTT as some of the other books I’ve read by the author. And while I’ve laughed while reading books before, this one had me rolling, and much of the humor came from the supporting cast of characters. Luke’s family was ALL kinds of crazy fun and there was one situation that totally reminded me of mine. Blaire, besties with both Luke and Aspen, was a character and I wouldn’t mind growing up to like her one day *BSEG* But all in all, this was a great read, so if you like best friends to lovers romances and a cast of crazy, but lovable characters, then this one is a must read for you!

“I’m just thinking it’s weird that I’ve known for years how handsome you are, but the desire to sit on your face is totally new.”

Slice the limes, sprinkle the salt, pour your favorite tequila, and get ready for one hilarious, charming, and highly entertaining romance! My favorite ROM-COM Queen is back with another sexy standalone that will satisfy your craving for the best friends-to-lovers trope.

Luke and Aspen, these two were so freaking comical. Who knew that two clumsy minutes in bed together would eventually turn into something neither of them were expecting. Being childhood friends gave them this great foundation to build upon, but I just loved how charming and how easy their friendship seemed to be from the very start. The banter between these two…forget about it! So good! I love how pretty much ANYTHING could come out of Aspen’s mouth. She’s like this badass bartender who isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. And Luke? OMG! So swoony, even when he’s trying not to be. I loved how protective he was over Aspen. I loved how protective they both were over their friendship.

I’m not spoiling anything when I say that OF COURSE they get a second chance in the sack because…DUH! Then they get to explore this new element of their relationship and it’s awkward, cute, and completely lovely. All this time they were worried about ruining their friendship, when in fact, becoming lovers only strengthened their already strong foundation as friends.

Tequila, Tequila by Emma Hart was filled with great characters and sexy shenanigans! From Aspen’s friend Blair to Luke’s Abuelita, every character stood out, giving this amazing love story so much personality and heart. Like every other Emma Hart book I’ve come across, it was next to impossible to put down!

What's more mortifying than sleeping with your best friend when you are drunk?

Ask Aspen and Luke and they will tell you...it's bad sex, and pretending not to remember, and realizing the other does remember, and painful conversations you start after drinking too much tequila. And, haven't we all been there?

Well, with the drunk thing...but maybe not the sleeping with your best friend thing. Or, if you have, I hope it went better than this started out...even though it all works out in the end.

Emma Hart writes fun, real characters who you laugh at...and with. Most of them you like (or all of them in my case), some of them you find a little loony...but you always know that when you pick up one of her books you are going to get the funny, sexy, hot read that you have come to expect from her.

This book was no exception. I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I’m absolutely loving Emma’s ease in her writing style right now ! With each Rom Com she releases I find myself laughing more and more !

The fact we have just normal characters wondering through life happy with their place. The wit and banter between the characters for me defines Emma’s style within the Rom Com world !

One night and two many Tequilas, leads Aspen and Luke down a very different and sometimes awkward path as the BFF’s fumble their way to lovers and beyond !

Some great moments in this book with characters that can hold their own. You need to read it to see what I mean !

Loved it

Emma Hart has once again given us an immensely hilarious laugh out loud rom com that will have you begging for more. Tequila, Tequila is a friends to lovers romance that was equal parts sexy and funny with a side of sweet, that had me devouring chapter after chapter. This read quickly became a favorite because of the awesome one-liners and the relatable relationship between Aspen and Luke. If you LOVE romantic comedies as much as I do then you definitely will LOVE this book!
