Dear Diamond

Rate this book
She wasn’t mine to claim—I knew nothing about her.

But then our eyes met…

She danced on stage, exposed in more ways than just her lack of clothing. I expected to see lust. Instead, I got anger, hatred, resentment. She was in deep with the company I’d escaped, and my presence at Club Swank made me guilty by association.

But I refused to let them have her.

I’d protect her at all costs. After all, they owed me.

This was a different type of writing for Stephie Walls, in my 1 cent opinion but like all her other books I was sucked in.

Nikki (Diamond) always had plans to leave and do something with her life, but having a mother like hers made it kind of impossible. It seemed that Diamond was the adult here and I admired Diamond's determination to do what was needed to move on.

From the first time Ryker sees Diamond, he knows that she's the one for him. Some might think it's corny but when you know you know. Despite Ryker's past he has an ace up his sleeve that in the end ends helping him get what he has his eye on ;-)

Like I said a different feel of book yet it sucked me and I got lost in it. Can't wait for what else Ms Walls will grace us with. Kara~ 4 Stars

Dear Diamond by Stephie Walls was a bit different from what I usually read from her. I dare to say, Dear Diamond was edgier, but I still enjoyed the ride. I love Stephie’s words so dang much—it doesn't matter if she's writing a contemporary or a darkish romance, she will pull at your heartstrings and make you fall in love with her characters.

Forced to pay her mother's debt, Nikki will do whatever she needs to do to save her, even if that means to leave her innocence behind. Ryker Davis saw beyond the strip club, beyond the lap dances and the stripping, he saw Nikki—and he wants her.

Nikki and Ryker were dealt with a shitty pair of cards, but they are ready to play the game and hopefully get their happily ever after.

I'm not a fan of gauges, but I didn’t care. Ryker stole my heart—he was so hawt, I would lick him if I could, no kidding.

The writing style, plus Ryker & Nikki's journey showed me once again why I love reading Stephie Walls books. If you are up for an addictive, edgy, romantic story, you should definitely get yourself a copy of Dear Diamond.

I like the "damsel in distress" trope and I love a "protective and obsessive alpha male" who would burn the world down to protect the woman he loves.

That's why the promise of this book sounded appealing to me. However, the book fails in its delivery of the promise.

It's all about the writing style. It's in dual point of view with 205 pages. The worst thing about its writing is that it is based on inner monologues. Only a quarter or sometimes even less of each chapter is made up of dialogues and the big chunk of the rest of each chapter is inner monologues. Feelings, thoughts, worries, summary of the actions of the day etc. are all given in inner monologues! If you only read the dialogues in the book, you can finish it in half an hour.

The book is about an insta-lust/love. It feels quite unbelievable as it all develops so fast.

She is 19, he is 26. That's why, she acts like an immature teenager sometimes, putting herself into unnecessary danger.

All along the book, nothing much happens. Nikki is working in a bar singing and stripping to pay off her drug addict mother's debt and Ryker wants to save her from this misery she will never be able to get out of. Ryker knows the man who owns Nikki and her mum and that man owes Ryker big time; therefore, he is now asking a favor back instead of the sacrifice he did for that man. That's it. The man is first pissed that the girl he laid eyes on and wanted to earn money through has been claimed by Ryker. Some pissing contest later, all is fine and happy end.

This book could have been a good one with a better writing style and more things happening in the plot line. As nothing much happens, it is not interesting enough and also it feels too sudden, too easy and too unbelievable.

The story just touches your soul and hopes for the characters to find love in a dismal place.
Sensitively written, beautifully penned, characterizing love's power and tenacity to defy all odds. Against all written rules and loyalties, an unusual couple gets thrown together due to violent circumstances and is a testament that not all charming princes need a white steed. Some rescuers drive a Harley and are wearing an armour of tattoos. But they save damsels in distress for sure!!!

description

"I’d seen this neighborhood steal countless young lives and marry them with drugs, sex, and gangs. As lighthouses warned sailors away from rocks— Swank held the same power for devastation."
Dacon, IL has projects like any big city and gang controlled areas. One such is Union 21 which controls the darkened streets and a neon lit, smoky club called the SWANK. Here the patrons come for strippers, sleazy shows and drugs. All the girls are there because they owe the Silvanos. Money, bodies and souls.

description

"He was dangerous. But our stars had aligned, and now, I had to trust him . My heart screamed yes. My head yelled no. In the end, intuition gave way to desire, and the remote possibility of a happily ever after outweighed the more distinct probability of a painful demise. Ryker twisted me into knots that I didn’t know could be tied. I’d become a bumbling idiot who blindly went into the lion’s den with a steak tied around my neck."
Diamond -Nikki Wilson is one such innocent girl trapped in Jesse Silvanos cage and is forced to strip to save her mom. Silvanos owe Ryker Davis and he's ready to cash in. The path to salvation and freedom is not easy but they don't have any choice.

description

Ryker was a perfect Alpha, morally steadfast and very clear in his goals, not easily swayed he is a Protector!
Instant attraction leads to heated skins and boiling lust. They get intimate after trying to resist the magnetic initial attraction. But hearts are entwined and skirting love becomes harder

description

“I’m not going to try to get in your pants.”
“Even if you wanted to, it would never happen,”
“If I wanted it, you wouldn’t want to resist it.”

I liked the characters and was so mad at Tabitha, I mean how could a mom do that!!! I'm thinking chase is not done with Ryker and hopefully more books will follow.
Enjoyable read with lots of unexpected turns and surprises along the way!

I really enjoy how Stephie Walls writes her romance. She tried something a little different, a little edgier with Dear Diamond. I like it - a lot. Glued to the pages, invested in the characters, I wanted to both read quickly to find out what happened next and slowly to savor the story.

Ryker Davis is a good guy. His life hasn’t been easy but he wants to do the right thing. He’s sexy, not just in looks and presence but in his undeterred protection and commitment to those that are most important to him.

Nikki Wilson is a good girl. Caught up in the mix to save her mom she does what needs to be done. A little young and somewhat stubborn at times but she’s tough as nails.

Both are trying to live beyond the circumstances they were born into. Both are drawn to one another. Their story just flows. There’s no supporting cast and this story doesn’t need one. It’s a terrific read!

"Diamond was ferocious, yet dainty. Intense, but subtle. Everything about her was captivating..."

When I read the blurb and signed up, I was really excited to read this one. I would say the first half of the book sucked me in pretty well, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why I couldn't connect after that. It was a little slow, with not much going on, not at all what I thought this book was going to be. Very well written, and the premise of the story a great one, just didn't hold me all the way through. I did love the Lone Wolf in the Male Lead going against an entire gang for a woman he barely knew, but it was missing something I still can't figure out. May have just been me, who knows? Had a ton of quotable passages, obvious attraction between the two, some action, so it was worth it to me. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review.

"This girl would devour my soul before it was over, but I couldn't wait for her to feast. It would likely be aggressive and filled with trouble, yet I couldn't wait to get buried in her mess."

Dear Diamond
By Stephie Walls
4 Stars

Dacon, Illinois…you either love it there and grow up to be in the Union 21 working under the Silvano family…. or you live your entire life wanting to do good in school in hopes that one day you can move out of Dacon, Illinois.

Ryker has grown up being best friends with Chase, the second in line to take over Union 21. The Silvano family has treated Ryker like one of their own. Ryker had it all going for him, good grades, scholarship, etc. But one night being in the wrong place at the wrong time…changed his life forever.

Nikki aka Diamond has been thrown under the bus and as a result of that she has found herself performing at Club Swank to pay off a debt she knew nothing about.

This is a story about two people who desire to make a good life out of what’s been dealt to them…yet life keeps throwing them curve balls. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions and some pretty steamy scenes.

I really enjoyed this one. It was a quick paced smooth sailing book to read.

Dear Diamond is one of those books you just have to read. I looked at the cover and read the synopsis and I knew I had to read this book. I was not disappointed at all. I loved the characters in it accept for one and that was Diamond's mother. I wanted to shuttle kick her in her face so she would get her head out of her a$$ and see what her daughter was doing for her.

Diamond is paying her mother's debt by dancing at the club for the gang Union 21. It is there that she is dancing when she meets Ryker. Ryker is such a great guy and when he sees Diamond dancing he knows he wants to bring her home and make her his forever. But a debt is a debt and her mother owes one and the Union is going to collect but then it turns out they owe Ryker a debt and he intends to collect in the form of the gorgeous girl Diamond.

Can these two escape the Union21 gang and become a couple or will Ryker have to fight like hell for the one thing he wants and that is Diamond!

This is a very different Stephie Walls’ book than the others I have read. This book brings the hot, sexy, and sassy from the very start. Ryker is this ex-con that has ties with an underworld family. Nikki is trying to do right by her mom by paying off her debt. Ryker has an instant attraction to Nikki the very first time he sees her and Nikki uses Ryker to get through something that she does not really want to do. This is a slow-burn almost taboo but super sexy story that lets you get to know Ryker and Nikki and what they are willing to do to get out of a bad situation.

This specific video review will be included in November 2018 wrap-up.

Oh goody... It's been a while since I've read a book from this lady. She had stolen my heart with her previous books and she keeps giving me reasons to keep loving her.
Each book was special, intense and made me want to read non stop.
Stephie Walls knows how to capture our attention. She knows how to captivate our hearts and souls.
Her writing is raw, intense, amazing and super detailed. Just give her a chance and you'll see for yourself.
Dear Diamond is her latest release and tells the stories of Ryker and Nikki.
Ryker made one bad decision that land him in jail. Now he's out and trying to do the right thing and live his life peacefully. On look at Nikki and...
Nikki once a sweet girl turned into a sassy little thing that will do anything to help her mom. Forced to take a job she didn't wanted, a job that disgusted her, Diamond has to keep doing it or else... One good looking guy appears and...
So good. So different. So appealing.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging and detailed.
The interaction between the characters is unique and the way they deal with each other is fantastic. They are stubborn as hell but in the end...
The story progressed smoothly, surrounded by darkness and desire and that made me reading this book nonstop. I couldn't.. I looked like a loon. Lol. I finished a chapter, looked at the time and thought... I still got time to one more chapter. Let's just say that I didn't went to bed... Oh boy... It was insane but I loved everything.
This book is way different from what Stephie had presented us in the past but let me just say that she nailed it, as always. She knew what to write, when to write and that was amazing.
Love, loss, heartache, betrayal, crime, punishment is very present in this book and will make you devour it in no time.
And....hot scenes... So many hot scenes... Oh goody...
Stephie you nailed it love. This book is indeed a precious diamond. You, my dear, are amazing and I want more books from you... More please…
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Ryker came from a small town which was run by a gang U21, he had never joined the gang his wish was to get out of the town and well away. It didn't help that his best friend, Chase, was the leaders grandson. He had ended up doing time with Chase by just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Jesse the leader had said he owed him one for taking the prison sentence. Ryker finds himself entering the night club SWANKS run by the gang as it was Sam's stag night, he really didn't want to be there. He was not interested in the scantily dressed women. Well not until Diamond made her debut stage dance, then everything changed.

She was so different, she moved with elegance and grace and the whole time through her routine she stared at Ryker. Ryker went to the sleazy club every night trying to find Diamond dancing again, but he never found her. Eventually she was there again she had three separate routines after she had finished her last Ryker followed her outside to where Sam (another relation of Jesse) picked her up. Sam made the mistake of hitting Diamond (Nikki) which made Ryker see red. This is where things started getting interesting. He found out Nikki was not like all the other girls, it was her Ma that was in debt to the gang and she was trying to dance the debt away except her mother kept adding to it. One vicious circle. She was like Ryker and wanted out of this town but was stuck with it. Ryker tried to keep her safe but she was very stubborn as was he. Ryker freed her from the gang by calling in his favour.

Will there be a happy ending to this story? Who knows? Very well written book with lots goingon. A recommended read.

Another new to me author and love it so much.
Union 21 owns almost every business in town and it’s a feared drug dealer gang.
Ryker doesn’t want to have anything to do with the gang but his best friend from childhood is the grandson of the head of the gang so he’s forced to hang out with them every now and then.
Nikki becomes a damsel in distress saved by Ryker as she has to dance in one of the strip club owned by the Union 21 for her mother’s addiction/ debt because they will always collect their debts in one way or another and the only way she will allow it is to do it by dancing.
When Ryker sees her he gets confused and trapped between wanting to know her better and letting her alone as she may belong to one of the Union members. Her beauty and fragility that he sees in her makes him wanting her even more to make her his and protect her.
It’s a long journey that they have to go through a lot of obstacles to overcome everything and be able to have a chance at love.
I didn’t like her mother for all the problems that she caused but maybe in a way if it wasn’t for her, our heroes wouldn’t have the chance to meet.
I really enjoyed it and loved that we have both POV and the story itself is very good, I like the writing style and how everything is easy to read and understand and the characters have insecurities and seem very real, I like how the author describe everything, the surroundings and the characters through the others eyes, it makes it so real.
Now I want to read more from this author ❤️

Once again I'm awed by the range in Stephie Walls storytelling. Dear Diamond is not like any of the other books by her that I've read. Okay, slight back-peddle here because her writing is always flawless. But the subject and situation is much grittier than I'm used to.

Ryker is a young man with a past tainted by the prison sentence he served, and Nikki is a young women who has taken on the repayment of her drug abusing mother moms debt to a drug/crime boss. These two are connected to each other through this crime network and the fact that they were both raised in the same bad neighborhood. But how there were raised is completely different and shapes who they are.

Ryker is fiercely protective and the minute her and Nikki "Diamond" lock eyes his interest in protecting her is solid. He is also fiercely loyal, but everything about Nikki's situation transforms where his loyalty lies. What transpires brings them together and a very deep bond is formed. The action is almost non-stop as the two evade some of the nastier aspects facing them and determine if their futures include each other. This is a highly enjoyable read that had me fretting over what might happen to divide them and a little afraid there wouldn't be a future for either of them, together or apart. 4 Stars and recommendation.

A fun, edged read with the perfect amount of steam

Stephie Walls just proved she can write all the things. From raw and sweet to flirty and sexy.

Ryker is one swoon worthy alpha and his eyes are dead set on Diamond.

Dear Diamond holds the perfect amount of push and pull, just enough steam and an edge of suspense. Stephie’s flawless and well written words make this an enjoyable read and easy five star read.

Stephie Walls does it again! She is definitely a 1-Click author. I loved Dear Diamond. It was different from her past book with a darker type Romance to it but it was so good! Ryker was hooked the first moment he layed eyes on Nikki and she couldn’t keep her eyes off him either. I loved the tension you felt theough the whole book. There was so much suspense . The book caught you from the first page and didn’t let you go until the last word. Great read for 2018!!

Read and reviewed an ARC copy for an honest review on behalf of Everything Marie http://everythingmarie.com

Dear Diamond was a fantastic read! Storyline was awesome and the characters were came alive in my head! Ryker ..... oye.... the tattooed hottie..... best friends with Chase whom is part of Union 21. Ryker paid some heavy prices for that friendship until one day he had to call in his favor.
Nikki- all too young caught up in trying to fix her mother’s mess...... only her mother will never change. Luckily for her she does not have to fight alone and her heroine calls in his favor which can risk a lot. I absolutely adore the way Ryker and Nikki’ story unfold! This edgy read was none like I have read before...... absolutely loved it!

I’ve tried so many times to read Stephie Walls books and each time I struggle with her writing style and content. Something was missing in this book. Half way into the story I felt very little progress was made. I felt the circumstances made it convenient for Ryker to get involved in Nikki’s problems. It’s too slow for my liking. Sadly, I skimmed a good majority of the story. Stephie’s writing style isn’t a good match for me. I’ve tried numerous times reading her books hoping to find that writing connection, but it’s not there.

This girl was a contradiction of smart and dumb. She knew her limits and boundaries, yet she still made poor decisions. She certainly got herself into some dangerous situations. I like the protective vibe, yet I don’t like the damsel in distress. This girl always found danger, needing the assistance of her protector. I’m not sure how she made it nineteen years with her mother being an inadequate parent.

Age difference. ✔️
Instant connection. ✔️

This statement was confusing...“I had too many connections to the Silvanos, and any female in my life would be tethered by those ties as well.” I was unclear as to the backstory of these ties. How am I suppose to understand this tether when the story gives little history as to these ties? Stephie just drives into the story without laying the groundwork. No foundation is built to draw from. Instead the reader has to pick up pieces along the way.

Another confusing moment...“Having grown up in the projects, I wasn’t easily frightened by the likes of U21 members.” Nikki makes an arrangement with the Silvano family to help her mother, yet she acts as if this arrangement is a done deal when she’s quite aware of the connections and hold they have in her neighborhood. She truly is stupid and naive.

“You picked a girl over an alliance, Ryker.” I’m still trying to understand what this alliance is when it was stated as a friendship. How was Ryker in an alliance with the Silvano family when he didn’t belong to the union?

I have read almost all of the books written by Stephie Walls, but after reading DEAR DIAMOND, I must say it is an entirely different book from any of her others. When I first started reading, I actually turned back to the title page to make sure she was the author. I was drawn into the story from the first page, and even stayed up late to finish the book in one day. It really was that good!

On the west side of Dacon, Illinois, the Union 21 was run by the Silvano family and they controlled the entire place. Ryker Davis grew up there, but never wanted any part of Union 21. Unfortunately, his best friend since they were babies, was Chase Silvano. Being a Silvano in this world was like being royalty. Chase's grandfather Jesse was the king of the Silvano clan, making Chase second in the line to the throne. Ryker's affiliation with the Silvanos had not worked well for his future plans of leaving there, or any of the dreams he had worked hard to earn. He had been stuck remaining there and forever tied to the Silvano family.

Ryker was to attend a bachelor party for his best friend Chase. He hated that it was at Club Swank. A strip club run by Union 21, and wasn't his kind of scene. He was at the bar having a drink, when a new girl took the stage. Her name was Diamond and he had not a clue why but she intrigued him. He did know that if she was on Swank's stage that she was in deep trouble with U21. He had never crossed any of the Silvano family, but he knew for this girl he would make a stand at whatever cost. He also knew that no doubt that cost would be very high.

It wasn't long until Ryker had to make a stand to rescue Diamond. And as they rode away with her on the back of his bike, their fate was aligned. Their stars had crossed, and now she had to trust him. What was a girl like her doing in a place like that? Did he rescue every damsel in distress? Her real name was Nikki Wilson and she was young, a bit immature, and in more trouble then she even knew. By helping her, he now was in danger from the very people that he considered family. Their souls touched. Their spirits bonded. She had fallen into the safety net of a man who appeared more dangerous than explosives, but had the heart of a warrior. The cards still seemed permanently stacked against them.

This is a story unlike anything I've read from Stephie Walls before. And again, I see a fantabulous job. This story is more dirty and gritty than others, but it also seems more realistic.

A town inhabited and controlled by a local gang or more like a mobster crew. There's no way to escape this life, no matter where you turn or how much you're determined to lay low to escape, there is some way you're caught up in their web.

Nikki has been one of the lucky ones, until she isn't. Her story starts with her debut in a star studded fashion. She's sassy, smart, and angry at the world and her situation. Her eyes dare any man to come near her and face her wrath, but one man does. Ryker. Once their eyes meet over the action packed stage, something clicks in place for both of them even if they don't want to admit that connection.

Ryker is a good guy, but he steps in when he shouldn't and the repercussions for Nikki and himself are almost too much to handle. But Ryker has connections that get him the small reprieve they need to make the choices they do in the end.

This stories hero is a total alpha, but he has a good side and he handles Nikki with the kid gloves that she needs at the time. I love to see a man swoon for his heroine, yet stand up and be the alpha he is at the same time.

I felt there was a lot of steam and angst in this book as well. We're kept on the edges of our seat watching Ryker and Nikki maneuver their relationship after being thrown together unexpectedly. There was a bit of a jump in the timeline toward the end that left some good story-line that could have be included, but that doesn't deter this from being another complete win for this author. This hit the 4.5 star mark for me . It's definitely a page-turner, a bit more dark than usual, and worth every minute.

Ryker Davis is best friends with Chase Silvano and has been for many years. Their association landed Ryker in jail and a connection to the gang Union 21 which he has tried to avoid at all costs. When he goes into Club Swank he sees a girl there that he knows he wants to protect and have.

Nikki "Diamond" Wilson has always kept on the good side of things but now she finds herself having to pay for the things her mom has done. Now she must work at Club Swank to pay back Jessie Silvano the money her mom stole from him through drugs. Nikki knows how long it will take to pay him off as long as her mom stops adding to the debt.

When Ryker steps in to protect Nikki from Sam, one of Jessie's employees, things begin to get heated. Is Ryker willing to risk everything for Nikki and will she accept what he is willing to do for her?

This is another great book by the author!

I really liked Ryker and it was sad at how much he lost in one night and he was innocent. There was something about "Diamond" that drew him in and once he heard what was happening with her, he knew he had to protect her.

Nikki was stuck in such a bad place and it had nothing to do with her. I was so mad that she was being forced to repay her mom's debt and that her whole life had to change because of it. I understood why she was so scared that Ryker was going up against Sam as she knew what kind of trouble it could get her in with Jessie.

I loved when Nikki met Ryker's parents and just how normal everything seemed at that point.

I was mad at Nikki for sneaking out as it landed her in trouble with Sam and then when she decided to go to her mom's on her own it made me so frustrated!!

The end was awesome and I am so glad how it all turned out!!

I haven't really read any books featuring female strippers before. If you are the same then I believe that this book is ideal for you to get started! "Dear Diamond" by Stephie Walls features a heroine that is forced to strip in order to save her mother from a gang and the hero that comes to her rescue.

Nikki is a very passionate and opinionated female. She may be forced to strip but she's anything but happy about it. She makes her dislike for any Union 21 member apparent from the start and it's the same look she gives Ryker the first time their eyes meet.

Ryker has the whole bad boy style going on but his heart is as soft as it gets. Even though, he tries to stay as far away as possible from the strip club and the gang, his association with the boss's grandson makes it difficult. From the first time he lays his eyes on Nikki/Diamond he's mesmerized and determined to get to know her.

Their relationship has so many ups and downs. With claiming her, he puts himself front and center to the gang's boss. His determination really touched my heart and the way he is with Nikki is something else! The feelings between them are developing past and even though they try to stop it they can't!!

One of my favorites for this month, "Dear Diamond" is definitely a book I'll recommend!!!

Dear Diamond by Stephie Walls
5 stars, I fell in love with Ryker and Nikki from the first page.
Ryker is a tatted up Harley guy trying to stay on the straight and narrow after already spending some time in jail. He’s out for a drink and a young woman totally catches his eye, he finds out her name is Diamond and she’s tough as nails. He thinks she’s beautiful and sexy. She’s doing a job she hates but has no choice in. Her mother got in trouble with the local drug lord and she’s agreed to his terms for the pay back. Diamond is AKA Nikki a girl whose dream of getting out of the lower class neighborhood she grew up in is now out of the question. As much as she loves her mother, working where she’s working to bail her out is dangerous and not really Nikki’s thing, but she does meet Ryker who thinks she’s hot and that she needs protection. Ryker offers himself up for the job. Now they’re both in the drug lords sights and things will get worse before they get better. This book was fast paced and highly enjoyable. I really want a Ryker of my own. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.

From the moment I opened this book, I was quite intrigued. I had not read anything by this author before and I was really excited to finally read something by her. I was not disappointed! The story was so well written I was hooked from the very beginning. It flowed smoothly and was very difficult to put down.

Nikki was in her own personal hell, thanks to the one person that was supposed to love her the most. The struggles she faced not only hurt my heart but made me angry. I felt every emotion she was going through and at a very pivotal point, I found myself yelling at my Kindle! Ryker, holy moly did I love that man! He's incredibly hard around the edges, but he captivated me. With all that he's been through, he's still a good guy. A genuinely good person. It was, for this reason, I was cheering for these two to make it!

I can't speak highly enough about this book! Stephie Wells is incredibly talented and seriously underrated! Dear Diamond is a perfect example of that. She balances the story and emotions so effortlessly. I don't know why I waited so long to read one of her books, but it won't be my last.

Such amazing writing talent!!

Stephie Walls has just taken her storytelling ability to the next level! Dear Diamond is nothing like what we're accustomed to reading. A little bit edgier and definitely grittier, Walls has proven that this darker side is a genre she feels comfortable taking on.

I sort of went into Dear Diamond blindly, not really understanding the whole Union 21 thing. But I was drawn to Ryker, an ex-con, and Diamond/Nikki, a young dancer working to pay off her mother's debt. The connection they shared, the way Ryker wanted to protect her and the trust Diamond had for him. Their story became intense and I found that I couldn't stop reading it even when it became very complex with Sam and Jesse. Walls didn't shy away from the depth and complexity that this story was based on.

Walls tackled this genre like a pro and if I didn't know this was her first darker story, I'd think she wrote these kinds of stories all the time. Though I love her softer side and heart-warming romances, I hope she has plans for more stories like Dear Diamond in the future.

Emotional and on-the-edge but I loved every moment of Dear Diamond. A must-read for sure!

Dear Diamond is darker than what I’ve read from Stephie Walls. Not at all a bad thing, it’s always nice to see an author switch up their writing style. From the cover to the blurb I had to really wrap my head around the changes and what I’m use to reading by the author.

Ryker, out on parole and just trying to live his lonely life notices Nikki aka Diamond. What could an ex felon and a young stripper possibly have in common??!! He’s drawn to her for some reason he can’t quite understand but as you dig deep into the story you learn that they really do have a lot in common. I liked how the story really focused on Ryker and Nikki. Due to others actions both are paying the price that has no way out. Dacon, Illinois is a place that sucks the life out of you and both characters truly wanted more out of life...they both wanted a future outside of there and they both understood being hurt by those close to you. They both knew they needed to get out but in doing so changes would need to be made and that means letting go of the past.

Dear Diamond by Stephie Walls is the heartwrenching story of Ryker and Nikki.
Both are trapped by fate and circumstances in a world of crime and violence.

Ryker has to be together with a gang he wants to have nothing to do with and Nikki is the pink, glittery flawless dream. He stops at nothing to have her, make her his.

Nikki is a young woman, who's forced to pay debts that aren't her own and that endangers her greatly. But she still has a lot of growing up to do and her actions aren't that of a grown up person. I will not spoiler here, only so much, never ever talk like this to a mob boss. She was not my favorite person in this story.

Favorite Quote: " Who lies with dogs, wakes up with fleas. "

Dear Diamond is a good read, well written, but I couldn't for the life of me connect with the heroine. The hero is a good one, but Nikki - -hmmmm. Dear Diamond is a standalone, written in a dual POV.

Can you change fate? Are you destined to become that which you cannot stand? Those are the questions that Nikki and Ryker struggle with in this book. Born into the wrong part of town where the drug lords end up owing you one way or another, both Nikki and Ryker want more but can they actually get it? Most books by Stephie Wall's are an emotional roller coaster than leave me in tears at some point, this wasn't that kind of book, however it was no less of a wonderful ride. Nikki is as fierce as a 19 year old girl living in a tough world can be and Ryker is a HOT alpha male, who finally let's his walls down and let's someone in. I loved the push and pull between these too and the constant underlying question of it they could ever make it out of what they were born into. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Keeping her mother safe her top priority, dignity lost with a shrug of the shoulders.

A double persona. One of edge, sharp and strong. The other of morals righting the wrong.

Ink and piercings adorn his body, making him stand out from the crowd.

Not a member but affiliated with the family through a lifelong friendship.

One stage, one dance her eyes find his and no one else exists.

Ryker the guy who took the fall, innocent though his outwardly appearance says otherwise.

Nikki her one goal in life to escape from it all. Her life on hold to deal with the here and now.

A fantastic read that has it all. Anticipation, expectation, suspence, romance and the obligatory bad guys.

I do love a good knight in shining armour so to me Ryker is the bees knees!

Stephie Walls is working her way onto my one click list with each book of hers I read!

I can't remember the exact way I found Dear Diamond. I think it may have been a recommendation somewhere across social media, but I did and it looked good and people were raving about it, so I grabbed it up!

I was immediately sucked into the story and felt a connection to the characters and their story. It was a whirlwind of a story.

I love angst. If you can give me a book full of angst, I will most likely fall in love with it. This book had angst, it did. However, I felt like all of the angst was built up and did not lead to the dynamic climatic point that I was suspecting from the buildup. Which was slightly disappointing.

I still enjoyed the story. I felt like the last bit of it was more of an extra epilogue, which is fine. Overall, it was a good read and I look forward to more of Stephie Walls books in the future.
