Backup Exec Accelerator

VMware and Hyper-V Virtual Machine environments require constant availability 24/7/365 and greatly benefit from advanced API integration through VMware VADP and Hyper-V RCT that enable efficient snapshot-based backups and block-level tracking to improve backup performance and reduce impact to production environments.

Backup Exec Accelerator further reduces impact to VMware and Hyper-V environments by eliminating the need for frequent full backups. Backup Exec Accelerator enables forever incremental processing of backups replacing full backups with consolidated full backup sets on the Backup Exec server.

The resulting backups are no different from full backups and integrate with the existing capabilities such as Instant Recovery DR, Instant GRT processing and Recovery Ready validation of VM backups.

Backup Exec Unix Agents for AIX and Solaris

Backup Exec 20.6 introduces support for AIX and Solaris Unix-systems in the Backup Exec Linux-agent licensing. More information is available here. 

Backup Exec Migration Assistant

Updated version of the Backup Exec Migration Assistant is also now available. The Backup Exec Migration Assistant enables customers with existing versions to migrate their Backup Exec environments to new Hardware and latest Backup Exec version.

The Migration Assistant can migrate the following:

  1. Backup Exec Database
  2. Catalogs
  3. Disk storage
  4. Job history
  5. Custom reports

Backup Exec 20.6 Availability

  • Existing Backup Exec 20.x customers can update using the Veritas Download Center (requires authentication)
  • Install and Upgrade media for everyone else can be obtained through the Veritas Download Center (requires authentication) for new installations and upgrades from prior Backup Exec versions
  • Automated Veritas Update for Backup Exec 20.x customers is available via the Veritas Update service
