Tips for Using Our New Stop at DTW’s McNamara Terminal

Air France

As you may know, Michigan Flyer-AirRide was assigned a new location at Detroit Metro Airport’s McNamara Terminal on July 13. This is the terminal used by Delta Air Lines and its partner carriers.

We are now picking up and dropping off passengers at the same stop on the Departures Level of the terminal, just outside the “International Ticketing/Check-In” door for Air France and AeroMexico.

(This does NOT affect passengers who fly on airlines served by the North Terminal. To find out which terminal your airline uses, click here.

Michigan Flyer new stop at DTW McNamara Terminal

THE GREAT NEWS
Because we stop at both DTW terminals, Michigan Flyer-AirRide will get you to the right one no matter what airline you’re using.

For outbound passengers, our new stop at the Departure’s Level curb of the McNamara Terminal is far more convenient, and especially for those with disabilities. As soon as you exit your Michigan Flyer-AirRide coach and enter the terminal, the Ticketing/Check-In counters of Delta, Air France, and AeroMexico are right in front of you.

(We no longer have any stops in the McNamara Terminal’s Ground Transportation Center (in the parking ramp across the road from the terminal).

Similarly, passengers arriving on inbound flights will find their Michigan Flyer-AirRide coaches waiting right at the McNamara Terminal curb.

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW
Outbound Airline Passengers
MichiganFlyer_Bullet.pngIf you’re on the way to an outbound flight, you should know that all of the restrooms and restaurants at Departures on Level 3 are beyond the TSA Security Checkpoint, on the way to your airline gate. If you cannot wait for the screening before using a restroom, take an elevator down to Luggage Clam/Domestic Arrivals on Level 1, where facilities are available.

MichiganFlyer_Bullet.pngFolks with disabilities who have not arranged for wheelchair or other assistance in advance should know that the Prospect Services desk for requesting such help has been moved to the far south end of the Ticketing/Check-In area, tucked into a corner near the Westin Hotel entrance.

Inbound Airline Passengers
Basically, before leaving the airport, Michigan Flyer-AirRide passengers with checked bags first need to go down from the airline gates on Level 2 to Luggage Claim on Level 1, and then up to Departures on Level 3. Our stop is right outside the Air France/AeroMexico door. Those arriving without checked bags can just go up one level from the airline gates to Departures. Signs saying “Ticketing/Check-in” will point you in the right direction.

Sign to Ticketing and Check-in

Finding our location should be easy, though it may not seem so because there are no “Michigan Flyer” or “AirRide” wayfinding signs to guide you. Also, new “Municipal Transportation” signs have been mixed with existing “Public Transportation” signs.

Most of our passengers from the East Lansing area have long known Michigan Flyer as a privately owned, public transportation company whose motorcoaches connect them with DTW. They don’t equate us with “Municipal Transportation,” like that offered by local transit authorities operating city buses.

Nevertheless, here are four tips to help you find us fast:

1. When you leave your airline gate on Level 2, ignore any signs that say “Bridge to Parking” or “Ground Transportation Center.” Do not cross the Bridge Walk. Instead, follow signs that say “Ticketing/Check-In” or “Departures.”

Elevator sign

2. Look for the four elevators, two facing two. Those on one side go up to Departures Level 3—where Michigan Flyer-AirRide is located—while the two on the other side do not. Be sure to take an elevator that goes all the way up to “Ticketing/Check-In” on Level 3.

3. Head for the Air France ticket counter. If necessary, ask airport personnel, “Where is ticketing for Air France?” You’ll find us right outside the terminal doors to Air France.

4. There is no Michigan Flyer-AirRide sign to mark our location, but you’re in the right spot if the big sign overhead says “International Check-In/Air France and AeroMexico.”

Welcome Back Students

Welcome Back, College Students!
