SWIM: Nov. 26 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – Rice junior Brittany Bui swam two career-best, provisionally qualifying times that lead Conference USA and was tabbed C-USA Swimmer of the Week. FIU junior Rachel Foord broke a Panthers’ record on her way to being named C-USA Diver of the Week. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World Headwear.
 
SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Brittany Bui, Rice, Jr., Houston, Texas
Bui earns her second Swimmer of the Week award this season after winning two individual events and swimming in three season-best relays for the Owls at the Phil Hansel Invitational. The junior won the 100-yard butterfly with a career-best time of 52.73 that provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships. She posted a second first-place, career-best and provisionally qualifying time in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.60). Both marks are currently the best in C-USA and her 200-fly time is also tied for the 21st best in the nation. In addition, she swam the butterfly leg of both of Rice’s season-best medley relays. The Houston, Texas, product also posted the league’s third-best time in the 200 IM (2:01.89).
 
DIVER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Foord, FIU, Jr., Melbourne, Australia
Foord recieves her second weekly award of the season as she recorded two first-place finishes and one second-place finish at the Purdue Invitational. The junior set a new FIU record on the 1-meter, taking the top spot at the meet with a zone qualifying score of 351.50. She took second on the 3-meter with a personal-best score of 327.20, also a zone qualifying score. Foord earned another personal-best score on the 10-meter platform, garnering 293.10 points for first place and another zone qualifying performance.
