A number of flights have been cancelled due to the wild weather, with some planes forced to turn BACK instead of landing in Glasgow.

We told you earlier how Storm Ali today claimed its first victim after a woman died when a caravan was blown off a cliff while she slept inside.

The body of the woman, aged in her 50s, was recovered on a beach after her caravan was caught in 90mph gusts on Ireland’s west coast.

Meanwhile fallen trees are causing mayhem on Scotland’s roads as 85mph winds from Storm Ali continue to batter the country.

One image shows the branches of a toppled tree sprawled across Inglefield Street in the Govanhill area of Glasgow.

The street has been left blocked off after the tree ploughed through railings in Govanhill Park.

More to follow.
